i managed to beat this game without dying under 25 minutes. This game is really hard. As far as i am concerned dying even once is not an option. You need all of you power ups and shields maxed. This was achieved through practice. This game demands concentration and perseverance. If not, just put the controller down. I wont judge you. I remember squeezing my controller so hard i would hear the insides crack. The difficulty of this game is not for everyone. I Watched my brother turn into a human tornado over this game. Trashed the entire room, then my mom swiftly threw her chanckla em and seriously beat his ass for it. Control yourself while playing this game.
It was very difficult to get back on track after losing a life. This is the kind of game where you spent your weekend mastering every level, one by one. It's a very unique, amazing shooter, so it was worth it. And the ost is a blast too.
@@M75248 You know it man. This game was no joke, and that's a definite on the OST too. Its part of the reason why I kept going. The game was really good all around. Its just really f,kn hard. Id imagine kids flipping out worldwide over this game.
This was my favorite shooter when I was just a tadpole. This is also the game that got me interested in sci-fi, space horror and body horror. Cheers for this nostalgia bomb, mate. 🙏
Never been a fan of games with grotesque biological nightmare stages as a kid, even today they still make me queasy. Though i have to admit they are creative
Seeing that the game had a license from Milton Bradley/hasbro, makes me wonder if it's based in any cartoon or toy line. ... Because oh boy is this game bloody and grotesque
In the 80s, video games were a hot market, and Milton Bradley wanted a part of it. Instead of developing their own games, they went to Japan, and started licensing games that were not set for release in the USA. Unfortunately, this also meant a lot of the games were either very hard, or unknown, and so didn't sell well.
@@joshpart3319 this was done for cars too in the 80s. Suzuki couldn't sell cars in the US at the time so Chevrolet imported them and called them Geo's, and shared the profits with Suzuki.
@@noapparentfunction yeah, with the cars i was Aware of that, actually it still happens at least where I live e.g. there's a sedan sold by Dodge that's actually a Mitsubishi
I never got past the guardian commander thanks to that damnable teddy bear thing that would jump onto your ship and drag you across the screen. Good job SS.
What happens with the last boss Parasitis? Looks like you are receiving damage but I guess you arent, with the blinking bullets and ghosts I cant be sure about it
@@lankymaccrazyhair264 I barely believed it either, but yeah it was made around the beginning of RU-vid's life. Makes sense with all the audio and visual crudiness, though.
It can only be a joke, kill the last boss without suffering damage and even with a bug hindering the game. I found this final battle a little suspicious
Old timer here. I can confirm that the hit detection in this game was weird and sometimes it bugs when there's too much shit on the screen. You either go "Why did I die?" or "How the fuck did I not die!?". It's more notorious on the later stages.
I resorted to save scumming via emulator to beat this one. I was completely drawn in by the art. I also wonder what this. Setting done with metroid style gameplay would be like...
See those ghosts alongside the final boss? Those are the disembodied souls of your people, who perished when Parasitis devoured yours and their planet, Abadox. They blame you, "You did this! You let this happen!"
The original Japanese has Abadox the name of the conflict-a combination of Abaddon (the demon Nazar is put in mind of when he begins his attack) and the Parasite X postulated as what apparently turned a human into Parasitis. I think the human was Nazar and Maria’s unborn son. Maria is a variant of Miriam/Mary, Nazar as in St. Joseph the NAZARene, Maria is implied to be an early victim of Parasitis…So Abaddon or Salpsan possessed the embryo/fetus and constructed a miniature Hell around Maria to render Earth an eternal nightmare.
I often wonder if These games like Abadox and Heavy Shredding, ect weren't originally planned for NES rather maybe they had once thought they were going to stay in the console market and make a 8 bit Intellivision....
09:17 that is some great hit/collision detection. Other than thay, the game is on steroids. I really like it. The fact I haven't heard of it before is beyond me. :)
