I restored homes in Ny City To I had to retire do to huge medical Problems, I started when I was 7 years old youngest of 10, I have turned these homes into some Beautiful, living Space,s the floor in that store with little work Would look brand new when done. People underestimate there self,s, Anyone could repair a home, You think you have to fix it all at once, 1 Room at a time, Fix as you can, That's all it takes

It's great to get advice from an expert. Hopefully a lot of viewers will read this and see that most of these places can be saved if planned wisely. I hope this comment saves at least a few of these wonderful historical buildings and since all these buildings have a history, they are historical buildings. Thank you and wishing you a wonderful Thanksgivings

Oh, the memories. This looks so much like my late Uncle’s store. I come from a family of merchants and when I was born my Mama and Daddy had a country store. We lived in the back of it until they built our house. Thanks for the trip back in time.

You are so welcome. This is why we explore and share these to show those who have never seen one and for others to keep the memories alive. I bet living in the back of one of these stores, you have some pretty good stories. Thanks for watching

I can see why the owner never entered the basemen 🤣I love the door! That green reminds me of old retro signs. I bet this store was really cool when it was open.

Very interesting! It would be a great place to metal detect.I'm sure it has been already.👍

Thank you so much for the compliment. Glad you liked it. Funny you should mention metal detecting this place. I edited it out, but we found old rusty bottle lids and tabs from cans imbedded in the pavement and gravel. I would want to metal detect that basement. Thanks for watching :)

My Grandfather's brother had a grocery store similar to that at the turn of the century in Cairo Illinois and that town is abandoned, I have the meat slicer 1915, the cash register 1904 , his meat grinder and I have a picture of the inside of the store. Another Great video of times past👍

Really cool old building. I remember exploring abandoned buildings/houses with my dad when I was a kid. Your braver then i am cause I would've been curious of that basement but not sure I'd have gone down there. Just subscribed too. Love these old places. Makes me think about my dad and the good old days

Thank you so much for the sub, so glad you liked the vid. We love getting comments of down memory lane. We do these because we love it and to preserve these buildings and the memories, so when we get a comment like yours, it makes our day. The basement was a little spooky but fun too. We love the adventure. Thanks for for watching

why couldn't anyone replace ONE tin panel on the roof to protect it? wow! I don't think you would have gotten me down there in the basement!

I agree with you 100%. It made me really sad to see how easily this one could have been saved. The way it was made, it would have lasted forever with just a little TLC. The basement was fun and scary. Thanks for watching :)

I don't think I ever did, but I've seen them before and on TV. They are really cool. I did love the old standup soda machines with the glass door where you got soda in glass bottles. No soda tasted better than in a glass bottle. Thanks for watching. :)

@@PrettyTattered There was very cold water in the bottom and your bottle would be wet when you got it out. Some had sliding slots you had to maneuver the drink, by sliding in, until it was free.

Thank you for the compliment, so glad you enjoyed the video. I don't know why but people in this country do not respect their heritage or history. It is sad. We also try to image what it was like to live in that time. So much of how those lived has build out lifestyles today. We should thank them, respect them and preserve them and learn from them, not ignore, destroy and shame them. Have a wonderful day! HUGs from the USA.

It's very upsetting how they don't care. This owner didn't even know there was a basement and his wife and him have owned it for many years. Now that is sad. Thanks for watching

Oh how we love these old country stores. We just did a shorts video on one that still has everything in it. It opened in 1933 and closed its doors about 20 years ago. The owner lives right across the road and it is on a busy intersection. He refuses to let us video the inside. I really want inside this one. It is loaded. We only have footage of the inside from the windows. We will probably show more of it in a near future video with some other abandoned buildings. Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words.
