That about makes me cry, many of us would come close to giving up a body part for a a car like that :) I was surprised how complete it was, parked and abandoned. Thanks for sharing
Really can't stand people who are so set in their ways they would rather see an American classic become dirt because they believe it's worth 25k in this shape! Nice find, but very sad!
One day, in the distant past, that car was somebody’s pride and joy - and now its a very sad mess which people would debate restoring due to neglect, rust and missing parts. I cannot understand how someone could let such a neat car go to waste. What a shame.
Aye Patrick,I see the “nice” in that car,I really like green muscle cars from the late 60’s and early 70’s especially Chevelles..to me they are one of the first real muscle cars, along with GTO’s and early mopar hemis and Ford 427 side oilers..but you are the “g.o.a.t.”of chevelle enthusiast especially 70’s LS5 and 6 cars, your like a chevelle professor,I learn so much from your videos...wish I could buy you a beer!
As said by many viewers. This is extremely sad. What’s sadder is most of the time the owners refuse to sell them. Excuse : someday they’ll get around to fixing it. So sad 😭
I've had no less than20 or so 70 chevelles over my life 3 of them convertibles. But my last chevelle was a 69 rag top was my favorite. I could rebuild that car with my eyes closed
What a great find, the color combo makes it a stand out. I restored a customers Fathom Green 69 Z/28 (triple green) a couple years ago and it is outstanding in these colors. I have vids of it here on YT.
The SS 396 Chevelle was my first car , blue, white interior, black vinyl roof. No AC PS PB 4 speed 12 bolt no positive traction and yes the the mighty 396-375 HP the factory rated 375 HP was is under rated more like 450. Car was very fast for a 16 yr old kid
What a great piece to take to MCACN (Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals) to display in the "Barn Finds" area, and then a few years later have an unveiling at the show with the car being fully restored...
WOW ! My great aunt drove a gold 69 chevelle , loved seeing an old lady pull up in her hot rod , haha It had white interior with console shift and a 350 4 bbl.
Great video Patric, I have a Le Mans blue 69' Chevelle SS 396 350 hp. This November 2019-- 47 years. It's garage kept. I hope to contact you soon. I biught this Chevelle in November 1972.
My older brother had one, same year too, had it painted cherry red. He had it for years when he went into the service then he got rid of it for some reason, never said why. Boy was that thing ever sweet.
Yeah!!! I'm one of those people who is wanting a 1969 SS396 Chevelle lol, me and my brother hear in Kentucky knows where a few 66-72 Super Sport Chevelles are but owners say "they going to fix it" yeah 22 years later they are setting in the same spot rotting even more to the ground :(
Ya I know how that go's there. is a 67 gto I offered to buy 15 years ago that has the same story. It could have been saved but not now it's a dam shame it had every thing you could want 4 speed hipo 400 positrack gold Body black interior the earth has reclamed it
So sad to see cars left like this. I get that people’s dreams sometimes exceed the financial ability. I had to let my 66 Lincoln continental go. I had started a family and with 2 sons and a mortgage , fixing up my car wasn’t practical. But I couldn’t stand to let it sit and rot. I basically gave it away, just so someone could enjoy it, hoping the buyer had resources to get that gorgeous car back on the road.
Great review as always Patrick. I was thinking why don't you have a quick summary one of yourthoughts on what happened to some of the cards you found if they were fixed left to rot or sold breaks my heart to see those cars repairable and just watch away that's money the owners are just throwing awayit makes no sense that car could bring someone else a lot of happiness and joy and start new memories but once it gets beyond repairable that's it it's over all for nothing
what would be really cool on your barn finds is when you found someone to restore one, if you were able to stay in touch and show any updates to see how they turned out.....anyway, you're having more fun than one person should be allowed. :)
in 1977 my dad had a 69 gold no vinyl top black bucket seat interior console non a/c chevelle 396 350hp 4 speed 12 bolt 4.10 gear. he had bought it from his cousin for 1000.00 dollars. very cool car!!! wish I had it today !!!.
Vice Grip Garage this Chevelle looks right up your alley. Would love to see you take this one! Little bit of wheu wheep and man tense she"ll be ready for 500+ miles
If I could buy it, I would restore it, it would take me 10 years to do it, but I would restore it. I don't care if it would cost me $50,000, over a 10 year period it could be saved.
My favorite model and color.Really sad to see it in that condition. Thanks Patrick.Maybe you can help it out of that place to someone else who can appreciate it.
A 60 Thousand Dollar rotisserie frame up restoration all day long if it is saved now. Another 3-5 years - it'll be history and junk. It is a shame when owners have lofty plans for a classic car in need of restoration when they can't afford to build a garage, or even put a good car cover over it!
my car was just like this car. bought it brand new in 1969. i was 18 or 19 years old i think that.was a very very very long time ago . April. 2019. i will be 71 years..old paid $2,500.00. for the car color. was forest green with gold in the paint. green bench seats. twin hood scopes with the chrome grills. factory installed. white stripes. front fenders doors an rear. quarters thin stripe. wide stripe. thin stripe automatic transmission. green vinal. roof. factory mag wheels. am push button. radio. 396. 325 horse power rochester 4 barrel.carborator. put a sun tachometer on the steering column. an 8 track.tape. player. under the dash next to the pull out ash tray.. living in Wisconsin. drove the car in the winter. removed the mag wheels an tires for the winter. put on steel wheels an tires. an.. snow tires on the rear. no air condition had astro ventilation. one piece radio antenna on top.of the right front fender .. still have the original bill of sale. an the window sticker. sold the car for $1,800.00. in. 1972 after all these years. still miss that car. wish i still own it. back in the good old days....boys an their toys
Dennis Stern Yes I regret getting rid of a 69 Dodge Coronet so I know how feel sir, I had a 64 Plymouth Sports Fury 440 engine and other upgrades, got rid of this one also, sad😫
I grew up looking at one much like this one. Green 69 ss 396 4sp 12 bolt. Sitting behind a home going to hell. Owner would not sell it because it was sentimental. Belonged to her husband who passed. I understand keeping something like that but watching it rot away is such a shame.
Jared , theyre the "someday " people . Someday theyre going to fix up that car . Someday.....Someday . Truth be told they dont have the money to fix the broken window in the kitchen let alone restore a 70 SS Chevelle .
Kinda similar how I found my triple green 70' SS 454 Monte Carlo! It was in great shape and in about 1992 but a drunk lady in an Olds 442 smashed me with no insurance...argh!
Hello from North Tonawanda, N.Y. I'm only a couple of miles away from the Chevy Tonawanda engine plant (They love their Chevys around here!) also "Green is for Go!"
Love your videos.....Just noticed tonight that you sound a lot like Matthew McConaughey ...Has anyone ever told you that? Love the content...keep it coming.
I wish i never sold my girl. Orange SS, black top, white interior, m21 4speed (wide ratio on 4th gear which i kinda hated, always wanted m22 rock crusher), posi. As a16 year old, I got her for $1200 in 1987, built the 396 with balance, comp cam, roller chain roller rockers, 10:1pistons, hv oil pump, alum intake, 850 holley dbl pmpr, headers and of course raunchy Sonic Turbo muffs. Lol. Raised hell speed shifting, ruining rear tires, lost license twice (for points accumulation lol dumb kid), sold it for $2500 in 1993 and thought i was doing SO good to get that much for it. Gawd. Been looking for it all these years, to buy it back. VIN was 136379z320500 if i remember right. Sigh.....
If you only knew back then what they would truly be worth. I had a 79 chevy monza that was converted to a 350 and had the 308 posi rear end. That rear end was kind of rare for that car. I sold it to buy my now ex an engagement ring. If I had only known. That car wasn't even closely compared to a chevelle but i liked it and it was fast as hell.
@@greggfridline4260 i know hind sight right. I always wanted a Monza with a waspy high compression mouse motor. Never happened though. I bet that little monza was fun to rip round in!
@@bobvincent4841 it was fast, I loved that little car. IMy brothers wife's dad, went through a mid life crisis, bought the monza and paid someone to build and put that 350 in it. So it was done right and he sold it to me pretty cheap. $2000. He didn't even drive it for a full year. I could never figure out why. It had to cost more then that to buy and put that engine and trans in that car. I was lucky. Then I sell it for a woman id divorce down the road. So many bad decisions guys make for a damn women. Lol
With nearly every piece of that car available for repair, there is no good reason for it to be sitting there as a yard trophy. True emotional attachment would want it restored to its former glory.
Why would anybody let that waste away. Looks like it's being parted out little at a time. Shame. Love to have that engine. L35: 325 gross hp at 4,800 rpm Oval port cast-iron heads, Holley 4-barrel carb through 1967, Quadrajet 4-barrel starting in 1968, 10.25:1 compression ratio, two-bolt main caps, forged steel crankshaft (through 1967). Available in most full-size passenger cars, Camaros, and Novas through 1972.
What a crying shame 😭 I wish I could get back one of the two 69 Chevelle SS I lost in my divorce due to the crooked court system one of them is still sitting in a barn where it has been since 1977 and the owner flat-out refuses to sell it it had less than 30,000 miles on it when he got it
