Back in late 70’s my best friend had a 69 chevelle ss 396 and I had a 68 charger rt 440 magnum and back then everyone had air shocks to raise the back end of the car up and put on wide tires, still love that look, this video brings back all those good old days, beautiful car you should be well rewarded
Does everyone realize if these men had not gone to and returned from Vietnam there would have been none of this. They were the ones who bought them. Thank you for the two contributions. So hope you are fine
1969 Chevelle was my first car when I was 16. It was the same shade of blue, I bought it when I was 16 and paid $350 for it as it needed a head gasket. That's what started it for me. Wrenching and love for muscle / performance. Boy was I some happy when we got the gasket changed and a tune up. Mine was a 350cu - 780 Rochester carb and a turbo 350 transmission, & bench seat. I sure wish I would have kept it like so many vehicles I owned over the years.
Yeah, like the solid gold/gold 1966 GTO I used to drive. I drove it as an everyday car in the early '70's before the Arab oil embargo sent gas prices through the roof. That car drank LEADED premium (99-100 octane) like crazy, though. Who really cared when gas like that went for 30-40 cents per gallon??
My boyfriend AAA RICKEY had 1 Lemans blue 325hp. turbo 400 horseshoe shifted console black int.12 bolt rear 4:10 posi. vinyl top was black he removed it and polished paint under it and returned the chrome surround tic-toc-tac a true 138 car! sadly in 1978 he traded it for a Vega with a 454 and narrowed rear.
I had the same car, same color in 1976. I had the factory deep dish mags, headers, cam, Muncie rock crusher 4 speed with Hurst shifter, even the same gauges. Loved driving it to the max.
Looks sweet. I had one myself back in 69. Same color, Lemans Blue, but all blue. No vinyl top and black vinyl interior. I also had the 375hp engine with Turbo Hydramatic 400. Car was a beast. I bought it in April of 69, about $3400. Biggest mistake I made was getting rid of it nearly 2 yrs later. But, was married, had a newborn son, who'll be 50 in December, and thought I needed to give it up. P.S. A few months after I got it, I put airs shocks on it along with some J70-14 Positraction tires on it. Looked even better then.
This was my favorite car in 69' when these came out. I thought this was the best looking Chevelle of all time. I thought the 70' wasn't as good looking until they grew on me now I think the 70' is the best looking. I wasn't old enuff to drive in 69' or 70'. When I did get my Lic in the mid 70s I ended up getting a 69' 383 Road Runner and in 69' the RoadRunner wasn't even on my radar.😆
Your destiny was to kind to you, a 69 RR was my lifetime dream car I never got. Still a lifetime regret. You owned the 1969 Motor Trend Car Of The Year Award Winner. MEEP MEEP!
HAD ONE, 2ND OWNER. BOUGHT FROM SMALL CAR LOT. GET THIS, FROM NEW 2 YEARS OLD AND I BOUGHT IT FOR $1800.00 . REASONABLE PRICE. ( NO.GOOD OLD DAYS). IT IS ALL JUST GETTING BETTER. OOPS, I BOUGHT IT, BUT MY SWEETHEART, WIFE, SHE OWNED IT, JUST LIKE ME, HELPLESS. WHEN SHE'D HOP IN AND MAKE THAT LADY SING IT,WHEN SHE'D BRING IT. I DROVE OK,BUT SHE AND HER BABY WERE JUST ONE, BLENDED. WHAT MEMORIES! THANK YOU.
This had to be THE year of the best looking Chevelle in terms of body style. That sideline bold black stripe was optional, BTW. It looked fine without it. I knew a guy that had a '69 Chevelle SS398 that was solid "marina" blue like this one, but without the black vinyl top. He never really ever "punched" it at lights like a lot of guys with muscle cars did in those days. It also had a snow white interior that set it off real nice. Whoever got it after he sold it got a good car that had been taken care of and was bought mainly for the looks and not performance.
Sounds great, I have a 69 convertible Chevelle, that drives like a Cadillac. My brother has a 68 SS Chevelle 4 speed and he purchased a 70 model Monte Carlo with factory 402 in it
I know my remarks are a little late but just saw this today. Really nice. I had two 1968 Chevelle's, one blue over black SS396 similar to this one. The '69 actually looks a little nicer to me. The grill is better for sure although I think I like the tail lights on the '68 a little better. Horsepower on the 69 was 50 HP more than the 68. Maybe next (life) time I'll get a 69 since I've had two '68's and one '70 already :)
I had a 1969 about 15 years ago, I sold it cuz I need it money. I don't regret selling because it was for a good cause. I would like to purchase an other soon.
Had a strip-o blue one with auto on the column back in high school. Sold it and bought a Fiat x 1/9. What was I thinking???😩 Glad you left yours stock other than rims.
I really really really wanted you to open that baby up and let'er purr. I get that it's a show car but damn I wanted to hear those headers scream. My dad has a chevelle 396 ss in his garage but it's completely destroyed. We had plans to fix it up one day and never got around to it. Spendy but absolutely worth it.
My dad has a 1969 Chevelle 350 in it . Don’t even drive it lol said he grew out of it and don’t wanna sell it either . I guess it will be my car when he dies
My boyfriend had one in 1977 it was a barn find true 138 code car a rolling chassis he fixed it and painted it like this one he had to trade it for gas mpg car "opec" killed off alot of muscle cars
I had one in the same exact color with a Dark Blue Vinyl Top and an Automatic Transmission with the Horseshoe Shifter. Only thing that ever went wrong with the car was the water pump. $25.00 for a new one installed with Air Conditioning! Like an idiot, I sold the car. Now stop your yapping and sell me the car! Let's get it out of the corn fields of Iowa and down to the beaches of Fort Lauderdale where the "girls are hip" (Relating to the Beach Boys).
Nice car... what rear end?? If the factory tach redlines at 6500 rpm.. then it is a L79 car. Also L79 equipped cars with 4:10 gears had the HD radiator support with the upper rad hose following top of rad.. then turn towards motor. Thanks
@@ronlind1757 happens to the best of of us. There was an L-79 tied to corvette i think at some point but i'm not sure what it denoted: engine type, trim level, etc. I was never a vette guy.
At 00:44 I'll give u $100 bucks if you can say "unbelievably" 5 times in a row. 😄 Just kiddin my friend....couldn't resist. Some of us never grow up. 😄 Beautiful chevelle indeed!
Hey it looks beautiful if you want to sell it please get back to me I've been looking for one and I can't find one that's halfway decent please if you want to sell it get back to me
