Abandoned American Home Holds Thousands Of Forgotten Photos! 

It make's me sad

They didn't even bother to do anything with the stuff or the house. Just left it all.

@@RetroCaptain ...... It's not the responsibility of Bros of Decay to do anything with all the things left. The children and grandchildren should have the decency and respect enough to at least remove personal items and photos. It's heart breaking to see all the photos left. I'd love to have photos of my grandparents and their life. Photos can now be scanned to computer then downloaded to a flash drive or thumb drive for keeping. It would be better than just leaving EVERYTHING to the elements.

Kids now days don't care about family pictures. Family history. Sad. New generation's. Most don't want their own baby pictures.

One day, another generation will want to know but it will be too late😢

Before I’d pass judgement on the children, antecedents, I’d want to do a little more research-it’s possible they may have died sometime before Mary. First, I’d look for papers that may mention the illness/passing/funeral announcements, etc., of family members and so forth. Perhaps even more saddening is that no one may ever read my comment here-or anyone else’s-concerning the family/events.

Not jus that the family thinks those pictures are there to stay i know i left a bunch back home and noone sent me them back:(after i lost mmy mom and her lousy so called husband.

Hello my name is Jenna Beale this is my great grandmothers home. She was placed in a nursing home and sadly passed away. There are multiple reasons why we had to leave the things and why the house is abandoned. We are not negligent and love our family very much. Please think before you make assumptions or comment rude things about the family. Please enjoy the memories as we did but respectfully, thank you.

I don't understand the need to trash someone's home, no matter they died 18 years ago. It was Mary and Elmer's home, it should have been respected as Lesley and Danny have done. I'm just glad I got to see it with the "Bros" and it was in such beautiful shape and it was left as they found it. Shame, shame, shame on those who disrespected their memories and trashed their home. 😪

The wall in the bathroom has been removed by someone who wanted to remove the copper pipe in the house , because copper can be sold for cash as it is a valuable metal.

Houses in the US have been built with clothes closets in the bedrooms since the early nineteen hundreds, unlike England where people buy a large piece of furniture to hang garments in that also had drawers. I forget what they call this piece , but it takes up a wall. Originally closet were small in bedrooms , but over time have gotten larger and larger.

The decor in this house has a lot of what was called Early American style. Very popular in the 1950’s. Those lamps that look like the old oil lamps are an example early American style.

What a fascinating story of the two spinsters! Could you record their back history and as many stories as you can remember, then give a copy to the local historical society? Just a thought to keep their memories alive....so happy they took care of the apparently unwanted cats-I raised 8 kittens (two litters left in my yard by a feral cat), and am now enjoying life with the last surviving one who will be 19 this Oct. 😺💕 It saddens me too to see all the abandoned memories and things created with love. Thank you for sharing your story.

@Nancy Carlson It's funny you know, and not in a humorous way, how animals can tell what kind of person you are and whether it's safe to come and try and find a home! I'm a real cat person but when Ethyl, the older sister who would be 91 if she was still alive, and Winifred the younger sister would be 87 and turning 88 next month, were alive I was raising my children and working a lot and I didn't have the time then that I have now to put tiwards animals, but these days my 5 cats, all rescues, are my world. Ethyl and Wyn were born in Sydney, Australia in the 1930's into poverty and they lived in the inner city in a place near Ultimo, but I can't remember what the town was sorry and they shared how their father always seemed old and the only photo I've seen of him he WAS old. They were not close with him! Their mother would clean the local Catholic Church and Convent and the nuns would make the girls beetroot sandwiches and occasionally, if their mother was there on a Sunday afternoon, they would give the girls the remains of their roast luncheon. The sisters were NOT people people but their neighbours knew they loved cats and so kittens and mothers etc would be dropped over the fence to them and they'd come outside and find them. When their mother finally died the sisters sold the property and moved as far away from Sydney as they could which still had an active train line. So in the 1970's they moved with 20+ cats to their home at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. I could go on for hours but I'm just going to share the reason why they spent their lives in ill health. Their father went to the pub on a Saturday afternoon, and then, and ONLY then, did their mother give them the castor oil that would allow them to do their Number 2's! True, they were NOT allowed to go to the toilet for a longer visit on any other occasion in case their father needed to use the facilities, and he would fly into a rage if one of them was in there!. NO surprise that both of them died of bowel obstruction related issues! They've been gone 25 and 21 years, and I will inquire as to whether the Historical Museum has an interest in their stories! @@michellesartori6695 Wonderful to hear more of the sisters' story and of you and your cats, too. I believe my cats rescued me and my 3 children, as they came into our lives 5 months after their dad left us - they drew us together and gave us a common goal - they were with us/me through so much and made me laugh when I needed it the most. You take care and keep on loving those cats, Michelle.

@Nancy Carlson Animals do help us to carry on when we don't want to! I was in the exact same situation as you after my husband left me and my 5 children so I know what you mean! At the moment my 5 cats are what's holding me here. You take care too!

So you are telling them to keep the stuff but sell away their childhood home they decided they loved enough to not sell it for money? The memories weren’t made in the pictures, they were made in the house! It’s ridiculous when you realize you value pictures over your childhood home 😆

@@jennabeale4128 Exactly. People just don’t think about the reality of things before judging. They are saying that leaving pictures and belongings means you don’t care & you should take them but then say to sell the house so someone can use it. I wouldn’t sell my family home if I didn’t have to. The house full of memories means so much more then materials. I mean where do these people think you should store these pictures and belongings? In a bedroom? They are already home. The house wouldn’t still be in the family if someone wasn’t paying property taxes. Thanks for commenting.

@@jennabeale4128 I'd watched the video. I'm not assuming anything, nothing I've said was rude or disrespectful. It doesn't take much to grab a box and throw personal item in it. Everything is left in the house. What would you call it if not left to decay. God bless your grandma and the wonderful life she lived in that once beautiful home and the family she raised. When my dad passed away. Everything that was important to him we took home. All his clothes and shoes we donated. Pictures we made copies and put them in a photo album and gave them to his grandkids as well as us kids. If you honestly thought my comment was disrespectful, I apologize to you..have a blessed day.

Great idea! Sell out your childhood home! Get rid of it! Make money and value pictures of the lost home!

I thought once of writing a small book of 'lessons' for people who come after but realised that the knowledge is mostly out of date. Tips on how to make the butter turn quickly. How to tell if a cow has milk fever or if it's something else. Changing the leathers in the piston pump. Even how to tie the cow's tail to her leg to keep from getting swatted while milking. This is all just useless now. Even garden things- the kids all eat store bought, they aren't interested. Even the recipe for the loaf of 6 strand braided bread I made every single night when they were growing up, they have no desire for it. When we get old we realise just how very unimportant many things really were, which seemed important at the time.

@@Chahlie I think your information is vital. For example, think of "The Carrington Event" of 1859. The sun put out a high level X flare, and the technology of the time was toast. It burned through the newly invented telegraph lines- wherever they were located. Now we are light years more dependent on our technology. Carrington Event type flares happen every 150-200 years. If we don't have instructions for & knowledge of "the old ways", we are up the creek without a paddle. No one has the whole picture on a subject, so those with some knowledge are doing our species a service by recording it. I am 60 now (61 next month), with one son who knows more of the practical matters because his dad taught him (& me) car mechanics, carpentry, cooking and other skills. He was taught the old ways by his dad-& had I known he would have such a short life, I would have insisted that he start a book or manual for us.😔 So your info is vital! I'm thinking of starting a collab, for production of an electronic document- one that we could all edit and add to...kind of a wikipedia of common sense & common skills. Then anyone with foresight could print it out. It probably should be etched in stone! LOL, but that's another project. Heather it is so sad that most don't think of such contingencies. You are a treasure of knowledge, unacknowledged of this by those who most need to learn it. I really believe that will reverse- for good or for bad.🙏🏼

I had an elderly man show up at my back fence- I have rural acreage and just happened to be nearby. He had come about a mile down a mountain through the bush. I bundled him into my truck and prayed to God he could show me where he lived, and he did. The daughter was in the yard distraught, and grateful. I realised afterwards that many people would have called police, creating most likely a huge problem for the family. Years ago another neighbour, who I already knew, showed up at the local store where I was working- he couldn't remember how to get back home. It's life I suppose. Heavens, and the man who called me at the store to tell me he thought he had had a stroke as he couldn't get out of his chair, ever so polite he was, but interesting that his first thought was to call someone he knew rather than the ambulance. These kind of communities are sadly dying out :(

I’m so sorry! What a tragedy to lose four children in the span of a few years. You are right about the younger generations, it’s unfortunate many have lost that connection to our history and ancestors.

Hi Leslie and Danny ,,I always enjoy your videos ,,,I only wish that people pass away that reletives would have more respect for what parents left behind family heirlooms and photos and antique,s ,they could had a yard sale or donated things to people that have great needs instead of letting things just go to waste and be destroyed ,,it's a shame that no one cares

The lp, or long play albums, are the larger ones in the cardboard sleeves. They run at 33 rpm The smaller ones, with the large holes in the middle, called 45s because they run at 45 rpm. You needed a plastic insert, to use them on the turntable, the odd turntable gave you a round insert so you could play the 45s.
