I cannot ever get my head wrapped around why people destroy, and vandalize old buildings. In kinda makes me angry. The old buildings would look so cool if just left alone.
I don't understand the mentality of that myself. They had to actually take paint supplies and things out there for the sole purpose of vandalizing. They're just animals. You wonder if they ever contribute anything useful to society.
I don't get the destructive part, but I do get the graffiti part. I find it fun to post stickers and write tiny little symbols and markings on walls mischieviously and imagine somebody coming in and seeing it and noticing it.
@@NorskeDrummer Probably they're just venting their anger caused by having to tolerate the constant cringe of virtue signaling comments... Really though, people are desperate to get as much copper as they possibly can so they can sell it. Why are they so desperate? They'll do anything to avoid withdrawals. Yeah, it's illegal. Unfortunately, unnecessary opiate prescriptions written by doctors for temporary pain that can be managed without addicting medications is legal.
Used to live about 45 min from there. Been there numerous times metal detecting. Unless something has changed since 2013, the only place you can't go is up on the hill by the FAA/USAF radars.
You fellas are so lucky that there are so many places to explore! Here in the UK its almost impossible to just rock up at an old prison and wander around!! Everything is locked down until its knocked down or falls down.Yeah we have old castles and history but usually someones collecting money for you just to have a look! keep on rockin!
Really cool-you guys are on it--I was there about 4 yrs ago, didn't seem like that much graffiti. I saw a few rooms with lots of phone jacks kinda strange (no booths). That DOJ glass was cool, it was more intact. They had sensors around the perimeter back in the day and signs warning to keep your distance, as this area is a well known area for ORVs (as well as signs on the road to not pick up hitchhikers)...Thanks again guys, be safe while enjoying your summer!
Just an FYI, there was not a Super Max built. It was a moderate/low maximum, and it's more than 20 miles. This facility was closed to make way for Indian Springs/High Desert, after the DOC sunk millions into trying to rehab this place. Shows exactly well tax payers dollars go.
Minor detail--This prison was not a Super Max--nor is the newer prison down the road..The US has only one Super Max prison--it's in Colorado...Interesting Video!
Just a heads up to any that would be interested in exploring this place.....ITS ALL GONE! We off road in this area frequently.....last New Years, stopped by only to find EVERYTHING GONE....LITERALLY. It was fun for the kids to explore but I think a nuisance for the local military installation that is still active at this location. It is near the 395/58 (Kramer Junction).
Lol..... This was a low security facility. No other security facility would have tennis courts and basketball courts.... Which were right next to solitary yard time . (hence the 3 walls but 1 open wall )
True story: in the mid 90s I delivered paint supplies there a few times and in the late 90s I drew blood out there a number of times. At that time it was mostly young inmates in protective custody but it did have some state mandated mental health occupants as well.
Today is 04/28/2020. The buildings are all gone the only thing standing is the radar station. And it’s active and the FAA own the land. And yes I was hassled while changing my tire. There are nails everywhere now from the demolition of the buildings.
What a waste of money for not being open that long and it's not like there would be a shortage of thugs to stick in there now instead of releasing them right away now...........i would take the thugs by the busload and bring it back up to using again for something, but the cost would'nt make sense, but anyway good video and also surprised no snakes or scorpions lurking about waiting for some din din.
Thanks for the video. Damn government could have sold some of that equipment. I see you are fair skinned like me. I got sunburned badly a few times when I was young, now paying the price in my 50's in the form of having to get skin cancers shaved off my face a few times, not fun. Please use sunscreen, wear a brimmed hat like the Australians.
Instead of abandoning that place I'm wishing it could have been used to house the homeless. Of course the homeless would have a choice. Hey folks, GOOD JOB, as always. Thanks :|
darksidesinners702 California. Just give it 24 hours until someone spills the beans on its location. I don't want to be liable for disclosing it's exact location.
