Abandoned ghost town hidden in the woods. B.C. Canada. Explore #19
This is an abandoned mining ghost town called Bradian, British Columbia, Canada. A visit to this historic town of Bradian and Bralorne was fantastic. The drive to this location was amazing with great views of nature and mountains. A lot of the roads were very high and just on the edge of the mountains making it a very dangerous drive. I didn't film to much of these roads as you cant take your hands or eyes off the road for 1 second. Approx. 6 hours north of Vancouver sits 22 abandoned houses in various conditions. Some houses are sealed up tight and others are wide open.
The Bralorne Mine operated from 1931 to 1970. This mine produced more then any other mine in British Columbia. 4 million ounces of gold and 1.2 million ounces of silver had been produced here.
The town sat abandoned since 1970 until a family bought the town for approx. $100,000. For 17 years the family slowly fixed up the houses to protect them from rotting away from the elements. The family then sold the the town to a Chinese investment company for approx. 1 million dollars. The Chinese investment company after 6 months of ownership re listed the property for sale as their plans fell through. This is a special place that I will never forget and I hope you enjoyed the video of this explore.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

I just sat and watched this video with my 91 yr old mom. What a wonderful few moments of memories we shared. We lived here in Bradian (Bralorne, BC) in the 60s in a few of these houses. The tin roofs were because of the volume of snow so it slid off. Man, did we get great icicles from those tin roofs. We were one big mining family. Life was great, until the mine closed. We left in 1969. My dad poured the last gold brick so we were one of the last families to leave. I finished grade 7 there and can honestly say living there was the best time of my life.

@@AbandonedUrbexCanada here's what's so cool about growing up in a town like this. The mine owned everything. These were mine owned houses so rent was dirt cheap. There was a ski hill, again owned by the mine and all the parents chipped in and ensured us kids got there and everything ran smoothly. Same with the swimming pool and the theatre, skating, etc. There were company picnics at the lake (Gun Lake) that everyone went to, so as I said, it was one big mining family. I guess that's the way it is when you're so secluded from civilization! You'll notice how big our yards were, and no fences anywhere. Our family had 2 horses that roamed freely and we had an assortment of dogs and cats that roamed just as freely. For that matter, so did us kids! There was an abandoned bunkhouse on the hillside up behind our house and we spent most of our free time playing in that old building. Thanks for this video. It has really brought back some great memories for both me and my mom today.

With all the new wind turbines coming out for household use. It might an ideal place to have them there and of course a good wood stove. In Saskatchewan some news media are saying some towns are ghost towns or have become unincorporated, but most houses are inhabited. Whether they still pay property taxes still is anybody's guess ?

Some people do live up in that area. I was there a in 2021 I think with some friends. It is a beautiful area, but personally, I wouldn't live there. I understand if someone wants to live "off grip", fair enough, but just from my experience, I'd probably select a different location. The nearby locals I did meet left me with some sense that if anyone doesn't like you, you may never fit in there. And in a place that's already remote, you probably don't wanna be socially isolated. Having said that, Lillooet was absolutely lovely. Don't think I've seen a place with more polite drivers in all of BC. And the drive from Lillooet up towards Bradian is incredible. When we went, the dams had been opened for repairs, so the lake was almost empty. Got to see old tree stumps, the original river going through the valley, and some of the foundations of old homesteads that'd been flooded when they built the dams. Was very surreal!

Abandoned homes always look so sad and lonely. Families used to live there, lawns were probably mown and gardens at the back, laughing children played on the street and dogs barked. What were the people like and how many dreams were shattered when the mine closed. 😟. Lonely place.

Really well done! Though no one’s living there, to know someone owns it makes it feel like someone could move back. When I was growing up, I wasn’t far from an old, abandoned house built in around 1900. I think the place was abandoned in 1950. As a child I would walk around in there, seeing really old newspapers going back to 1901 and 1902 stuck on the walls. I still remember finding stuff such as scrub boards. It’s fascinating stuff!

Abandoned Urbex Canada Yes, it takes gas which costs $$$ and they’d rather spend $$$ in other ways. Thank goodness. My husband and I were at this site many moons ago. I always remember the town being in a setting much like Gilmore Idaho, which we visited several times and were always ‘alone’ in these out-lands when we did so, much to our joy.

@@AbandonedUrbexCanada good job the vandals can't afford to get there plus they would more than likely to dum anuff to get ripped to prices by a bear 🤔 wouldn't be a bad thing to offer the vandals a lift and just drop them off nearer to where the bears can easily get them far anuff away from the actual village/town so they can't escape from the Bears Could even make a video of them getting killed by bears could title it vandalising scum get their comupance

You're cute- "high up in the mountains". We sit at 14,000 feet, lol. Your scenery is stunning!!!! One day, I'm going to take a vacation up there. I'm impressed with you're narration, calm and polite, and respectful. You also provide information, which I really find helpful. Thank you. The quiet music is also really nice. Did any of these homes have plumbing of any kind, or power?

Wow, what a fascinating place...so eerie yet beautiful! Went to BC for the first time 3 years ago and fell instantly in love! The landscape is so different and opposite from the east coast yet the people are quite similar and very friendly. But I'm completely biased, I'm Nova Scotian, lol! Terrific video, Brent, thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you got your luggage back👍🙂

My family lived in Bradian when we first moved to Canada from England. Lived in one of the old abandoned houses you featured. Was a wonderful time . Ultimately my father got very sick from working in the mine spraying Urea Formaldahyde foam. We had to leave the town to be close to a hospital. The company slow walked my father for compensation until they went belly up. Still a beautull place to live and a real sense of community.

Unlike most western ghost towns, that I've seen, I didn't see any old out buildings, shuttered stores and businesses etc., Just houses in disrepair. Granted they are still in better shape than in some western ghost towns. To attract people to a ghost town you would need more than just dilapidated houses. That said, this ghost town has one huge thing going for it, and that's the view. The view is breathtaking. I don't know if the houses are salvageable or not. If this town went to the right buyer, with new houses or with the old ones, this place would make one hell of a vacation spot.
