I’m glad you locked the door so no one could easily get in there and destroy the place. It’s extremely rare to find an abandoned place that isn’t riddled with graffiti and trashed. Nice find!
I know sometimes you're not supposed to go inside because you can get in trouble but I do like it when you do go inside it makes the video better. Your channel is great.
That's the legal problem, because they're now private when they're not an operating business, so they could technically have you arrested for trespassing. I entered a place like that, the owner came by, all I was doing was filming, and they threatened to have me arrested. That's why I no longer try to enter them, I don't know how people may feel even if all I want to do is document it.
Thank you. I figured the door was meant to be shut all the way but someone didnt make sure when they left. So I thought it was necessary of me to do it so no one can go in and vandalize the place. It's nice enough that it can be repurposed.
The last YELP reviews for this Golden Corral were in August 2016 and basically most of them said the place really sucked with horrible food. One guy said in june they were "Closed by the health department for gross unsanitary conditions..." but they have photos of the staff inside. Local paper says they closed in Dec 2016.
Reminds me of "old country buffet," but with larger format and taller building. You need a lot of traffic to make these places work, and supposedly that went away when nearby kmart closed.
Awesome video Wallie. It's nice to see an abandoned building without broken windows and graffiti everywhere. It would be nice to see someone buy this place and make good use of it.
wow wat a beautiful building,,,,look at them clean windows,,,and that green beautiful grass....it looks like it closed yesterday,,,,somebodys keeping up with the landscaping and housekeeping cuz them windows would be dirtyu as hell if nobody was cleaning them
Yeah, I mean I feel that whoever was last out of that building didnt check to make sure the door closed completely so I went ahead and closed it in full so no one can get the wrong idea and ruin the place. It's nice enough to see new life with a new owner/business. And if this video is viewed by someone looking for a property like this one that they hopefully got a thorough look at it to help them in leasing/buying.
Wow you actually got into the place. I remember eating there many times. Used to be a decent place. As other have said, then something went downhill and it became a dump of restaurant.
great video. glad you stopped and checked that door. and thank you for explaining that urban explorers should be there to document not distrub. Keep up the great work
That's the sole purpose of my videos is to do something I love... explore, admire, and leave. I highly discourage anyone that intends to vandalize/destroy. I just like to look at, explore, and create a memory of something of that once was here yesterday and gone today.
@@WallieB26 that is how all people should treat these places. so the next explorer with a different audience can experience the same joy you give your viewers. than you sir
This store closed on the December 28th 2016! Almost 2 years now. I cannot believe all the stuff was inside and since it's uniontown, no one broke in and took everything. Glad nobody did though. Great video! I love it when you can get in and walk through the place!
I am a resident in Pennsylvania as well, I've seen so many dead locations. I live near a dead mall and once, there was an abandoned ice cream shop in the middle of nowhere in Gettysburg. On the Carlisle pike, there is a abandoned fire mountain which has closed 4 years ago.
I agree, their silverware, plates, and cups just weren't clean and I want to at least 3 different locations, one plate had what looked to be disgusting yellow food left over on the back of it, not exactly sure what it was, but my appetite was lost.
@Octavios Reaves - *I'm an hour south of Cleveland, and the place near me wasn't well kept. Floors were covered in old food where we sat, food was poorly prepared and had almost no flavor. Selection was limited, like they ran out of stuff. The restrooms were nasty too. May have been a fluke, but it was enough for me to never go back.*
The one closest to me in Northeast Tarrant County, TX is a crapshoot. Sometimes it's very good. Most of the time it's just so so. Other times it just plain sucks. The restrooms are often disgusting, and I think I once bit into a moldy hushpuppy. I don't go there often these days. I've also seen dirty plates in the "clean" shelves as others have mentioned here. I guess GC doesn't make its franchise owners take a more active role in their business.
The restaurant claimed it was slow economics. They left out how many times the health inspector shut them down causing people not to eat there. It used to be a busy place then about 7 years ago the food went to hell. I heard from the wait staff that the store manager bottom line wasn't food quality.
GC's prices are higher than ever, and the one near me really gouges customers on special days, including Mother's Day and Father's Day. The GM essentially told me this is "because they can".
worked as a dishwasher in the one in macedonia ohio, This is incredible to see since its the same layout and everything I had a lot of good memories I cherish to this day working there sometimes I miss it greatly since 2010 was the best time of my life. God I miss it and all the friends I made there. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.
This Golden Corral was either not that old when it closed or it had a recent renovation then tanked. Sad to see that happen. It looks better than an active Golden Corral I know of in Northeast Tarrant County, Texas. This abandoned GC's restrooms are much cleaner than the active local GC in my neck of the woods in Texas.
Batavia IL has an abandoned gc, but I think somebody bought it. It was a franchise. The owner died and the family didn't want it. Great video. I can't believe you got in. I saw the thumbnail and thought that it was just a window shot and also thought to myself how is this a 12 min video. Got my answer.
Awesome video. It did surprise me that there isn't garbage all through the parking lot. What surprised me even more was that the door wasn't locked and yet there was no graffiti and nothing was broken up. The restaurant is still fairly clean and in such good shape. I always love watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work.
That was a great thing you did by locking the door. I love to see abandoned buildings, etc, but hate to see the destruction and vandalism. Thanks for sharing!
I had one that I used to go to about 10 minutes from me. It closed and it’s now an engineering place. About one year later, a new one opened 30 minutes away from me which was a former Ryan’s. We would go once a year for family reunion. Year by year, the quality of the food and service declined. After 2015, we stopped completely. Some people I haven’t seen since then. Also I’m highly interested in joining camp corral if possible, ive seen many legends come out of it, and I feel like it’s my time to earn that title
My favorite buffet restaurant is Golden Corral! But this one forebodes me! Covid really murdered golden corral’s business. Even the one in my hometown is closed.
Your reaction to finding that door at the Golden Corral opening reminded me of at least two other instances: *An early video when you got into the Payless and said, "Can't believe I just walked right in here." *When you got into an abandoned Ames and were like a kid at Christmas. Perhaps you are lucky because you are such a good man of pure of heart and intent "Just leaving footprints and respecting the property." Seems the urbexer powers that be that watch over all of you and every so often give you a "gift." Knew you are an honest and classy guy from your first video. When you locked the door I said, "Yep that good guy Wallie." The buffet chains seem to be struggling and failing. DIdn't one of them file for bankruptcy? I have a leery feeling eating at a buffet type of restaurant that food wasn't fresh, dishes dirty and who knows what else. I'm a food snob and like my food freshly made. Last buffet I've been to was in Vegas at Ballys. Now this place would make an awesome microbrewery restaurant because America can be better and happier with beer and steak and bacon. Keep those videos coming!
We used to had Golden Corral in Newton up to mid 2000s near I-80. The building got torn down and a brand new Pizza Ranch opened up in 2008. Pizza Ranch is popular around in Iowa and have good buffets and have fried chicken too. Awesome explore of an old GC Wallie!
We lost our 😢golden corral 😢 in Springfield ohio. We had lots of great memories there. And birthdays. Plus holiday celebrations! In trade we got a chick filla there now!😢😢😢 Been past it but never got to est there yet!!!!😢
My nearest Golden Corral (Rock Springs , Wyoming) closed suddenly last December. No warning , patrons were greeted with locked doors and a very sad letter on the door , thanking patrons for their business. Apparently there was a tragic death in the owner's family , and he had to immediately close down. Much like this location, a door was left open , and I was able to "explore" one night at 3AM. There has not been any vandalism as of today , and the building is still abandoned.
Death sucks and what sucks even more is that there aren't any more Golden Corrals in Wyoming which means if people want Golden Corral they have to go to South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, or Colorado.
Good explore of this place. Can't believe it's in such great condition on the inside and outside(as I couldn't spot any graffiti), after it closed too(other than dust). And THANK YOU for locking the door behind you, since like yourself if I was the one exploring and not you, I'd be worried about vandalism occurring after I explored as well and have done the same. Hard to believe this GC shut down. I wonder if its closing was because the landlord asked for too much money for GC to continue to operate here, or if business fell at this location so much after a while?
@@WallieB26 Makes sense hon with that Filthy Closet you encountered and sticky floor and smudges all over everything...My hubby and I before he died in 2020 went to our GC here in Orem Utah and the place ...ESPECIALLY the Bathroom was absolutely Filthy...ugh...and the salads on the buffet were WARM when they should of been Ice Cold...We stuck with Chuck A Rama Buffets after that...Great Video 🌻🌼🌸🌺🌷🌹
In Meadows Place, TX there is a former Golden Corral that is currently being used as a restaurant called Kelley's Country Kitchen. It looks identical to this one, except the ex-Golden Corral party room is across from the restrooms. Here, it is directly across from the door you entered in from.
I am glad you said urban explorers are not there to take anything. I had lost respect for Ace's Adventures a couple of years ago when he took some documents from an Ames store.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing this with us. It was so cool that the door was left open so that you could go in there. Something funny as well, before I watched this video RU-vid advertised for Golden Corral's endless ribs. Funny. I've been to Golden Corral restaurants in Victorville California and in Arizona. Good food. Thanks Wallie, Stay Awesome
That place was closed down because of numerous health violations; the managers didn't even have food sanitation certification. Supposedly they cleaned up the place and hired qualified managers, but most people were afraid to go back because of past bad experiences. Uniontown placed stores and restaurants with no plan--just randomly stuck wherever, so customer traffic is scattered rather than concentrated. There is no focal point for shoppers; it's a matter of picking out a few destinations--or going elsewhere like University Town Centre in Morgantown where shops and restaurants are concentrated in one area.
As others had previously commented the reason it closed was due to SEVERAL health code violations. It has since (well up until the COVID shutdown) reopened as a Chinese buffet. I had heard lots of good things about the food at the Chinese place though. EDIT: Thought I'd add that it closed December 2016.
Holy shit. I used to work at this Golden Corral almost 10 years ago now. Seeing this video brought back a flood of memories, especially as I haven’t lived in the area for some time. But I know it’s a Chinese restaurant now. Thanks for the video and the door lock! Got a subscribe from me!!
Great video!! So nice to see an abandoned building in pristine condition just like the payless store; graffiti, broken windows, etc...always ruins it for me. The Golden Corral where I live used to be so good but has really went downhill (the last time I ate there the food was so nasty that I left the restaurant still feeling very hungry and picked up some McDonalds on the way home). That building has great potential and am very surprised that there's no mold. Thank you for locking the door. You should come to Chillicothe Ohio and check out our abandoned buildings
There used to be a Golden Corral in Pleasanton, TX years back. It was a small location. It closed down and the building remained for sometime, till Mc Donald's bought the property. They tore it down to build the McDonald's. Then many years later when I worked at a Burger King, a new general manager was hired. He said he worked at that Golden Corral. Also said that the place closed because management didn't know how to run it.
Great video. You got lucky getting in. My favorite place to eat. So many choices. Looks like another could just come right in, clean a little & start serving.
Wally I live in Port Huron Michigan in Fort Gratiot Michigan which is on the other side of town they had to Golden Corral they closed up couldn't keep workers the food was always cold they never reopened it it still abandoned
Hey Wallie! It's been awhile since I have seen and commented one of your videos. This one is cool because you got to go inside. There is a Golden Corral by me that really should close because the food there is pretty nasty. Anyway, good video as always!
I glanced at the door and noticed it wasnt shut all the way so I figured I had a rare opportunity to see inside and then leave the place the way I found it. Except I shut the door completely and locked it so no one gets the wrong idea and tries to damage the place. It's nice enough that it can see a new business right away.
@@WallieB26 THANK YOU so much for locking the door behind you, after you left! I had the same worry about vandalism occurring as a result of you posting where this Golden Corral was, and I would've done the same were I the one exploring it, so as for the place to not get later vandalized as a result.
I live in North Carolina Kinston and this is not what they did with our golden corral as soon as it closes down in 2021 and 2023 two years later they demolished it and that was only today! and I have memories on that golden corral. They shut down and they demolish the whole building. I’m sad. They closed it down, but it was for health reasons and also when I was looking at there, they apparently left the chairs and tables there. We’re going to throw them away. RIP Golden corral from 2004 to 2021
I think it closed because of mismanagement, just like the one that was in Connellsville. There is a new place there now. Who knows if it will open back up after this is over.
In South Florida the demolition crew is waiting even before the business closes. They quickly build something to replace anything that goes out of business.
Like all your videos and That’s building looks exactly like the one in the next town from me that place is always packed it sucks to see a good restaurant close
There's one near my mom's house in Elizabeth City NC. It closed back in 2018 (can't remember date). From what I understand, the owners of the restaurant... just decided to call it quits! Shame too! This Golden Corral always scored a 95 or better (on sanitation)! Such friendly staff suddenly out of work! So sad! 😭 At least I had the pleasure of eating there a few times, before it closed. 😢
I live in Uniontown and I honestly can’t remember when it closed. Well over a year ago, possibly a few years. Last I remember they were cited for health code violations on multiple occasions and then one day, bam they were closed down
Awesome video man!!! I'm guessing it wasn't closed that long it still had the dumpster and I saw the grease container too. I'm surprised the power wasn't still on
