A brief trip back to my hometown. For someone that grew up here only 3km around the corner, to walk through the heart of Gosford in 2023 feels almost surreal or post- apocalyptic.
At the time of producing this video, 5 years had passed since the initial scheduled demolition for this site. The site primarily featured in this video initially housed the Central Coast Youth Club, The Old Brisbane Waters County Council Chambers and Froggys Roller Rink Arena.
The Client developing these lands is Macau NHK Pty Ltd. It is not known if this developer still owns the land, as Froggy's was demolished in 2017 prior to Christmas and all following work has completely stalled
During this trip to Gosford we wanted to present a point of view that we feel when returning back toGosford. We wanted our viewers the experience how it feels to return to see your hometown in such a desolate state.
The explorers also accessed several other filming locations that feature in this film about Abandoned Gosford.
Also at the time of editing this, St Hilliers has just started construction on a large residential and retail development at the original Gosford Primary School Site. It looked like they has just broken ground at our time of visiting Gosford.
We are pro development for Gosford! but we are appalled at the previous decisions made by GCC. At the time of editing (Jan 2023) The GCC had all been terminated by the NSW State Government. The mass- termination of every councillor was carried out due to the GCC accruing to almost 90 million dollars in debts. The state government was forced to pay well over 5 million to appease suppliers and keep essential services and trades running.

Thanks Mark! We didn't know if anyone wanted to see it, so I'm glad you did. It's pretty sad what has happened to my home town! We are back down there in three weeks so possibly stay tuned for a part 2?

This is a great video, my family have lived in and around Gossy for over 100 years. The original clock, was still in there maybe 18 months ago, it was on the floor near the old staircase. The story is that the developers who have purchased these buildings are just waiting for them to pretty much fall down, so they can build highrise units so more crap from Sydney moves up here to destroy our history The packing house has now been destroyed and newy uni building a campus for Law and IT students i believe. Markwtown was built in 79, there was a carpark, where the courthouse is now. Its demise was 100% erina fair. I use to do gymnastics and trampolining, at the youth club We lived at frogys, you probably know me or my brother!!

Thank you for watching. The video was meant to have an 80s vibe in the cutaways, as that's when I grew up in Gossy. Sadly it contrasts what scenes we saw when we shot this. I practically lived at The Youth Club and Froggys growing up, so I bet we did cross paths many times! I wanted to shoot the CCYC when it was abandoned, but I was always too scared. After entering and filming buildings like Market Town & the old Council Chambers, can't say we will be doing another one. Bad vibes in Market Town and the floors in the old Clock Tower Building/old council chambers were impossibly hazardous. A property firm in Macaw own that entire block now, they paid for Froggies & The CCYC to be ripped down then have stalled any further progress. Thanks again for watching and dropping a comment. Only better for.more shit from Sydney to move up here, theres nothing for kids to do anymore, we had heaps of places to hang out to keep out of trouble, now nothing but unit blocks, no parking and all the history knocked down

@@kyliemitchellharper6872 I don't agree on the "nothing to do on the coast" thought mate. There is a lot if you have the right mindset. I do fully agree on the removal of history though. There's little respect given to Gosfords History with forward planning. Makes me think they know the "double towers" were coming when they nuked Gosford Primary School!

I grew up in Gosford in the 70's. I see the Imperial Centre is still open, that was our first big shopping centre. Then there was Market Town, I remember when that opened. Sad to see so much ruin in Gosford. It was a nice place once. My cousin who lived at Peats Ridge told me that the Shire Council was full of crooks, in it for themselves.

Hi John. Thanks for watching mate. This video was shot close to 18 months ago. Gosford has really stepped up with development since this was recorded. The abandonments are now confined to the South end of Mann Street, the end closest to Paul's Corner. I agree with your cousin's sentiment of the Council completely! Cheers. Ebenezer.

Was the best place in the world to grow up in the 70s and 80s. The old union hotel, has gone and a ridiculous high rise apartment building with two towers is being built. Its shit, absolute shit up here now. Too much trash from Sydney moving up here and now they are building cheaply constructed units to.accommodate them
