Perhaps its worth investing in a LEP torch, they are basically a laser torch. They have a concentrated beam that shines a long way, im talking 1km for the lower end of the scale. Being a concentrated beam, you could use it point out what you are talking about. Not to mention seeing how long tunnels are, or how far the various holes/stopes go down. Mine is a $200 cheapie a MATEMINCO FW2. Do your own research and see if such a torch is useful

Nice recommendation mate. One that laser measures the workings would be very useful. We could do a proper survey and map it out. Thanks for tuning in mate and have a good Easter break Kind Regards. Ebenezer

Hello from remote rural NSW opal miner here great footage indeed. Hint take sidewalk chalk with you and mark your directions on the walls , works for me in complicated abandoned workings. Or glow sticks at junctions , you can even get LED small flashing drop squares cheap enough,, pick them up on the way out and recharge them for the next adventure, right hand rule is just as easy as if you face out you just take every left turn to get back.

Great adventure in this mine with very bright lights, but way back then , how would you guys feel with just using some candles, the way they did it ? also I may have missed about what the tin mineral looked like, thanks for another beaut video ! Cheer's.
@qldabandonedmines
@qldabandonedmines 5 месяцев назад
Thanks Shane! This tin deposit is extremely interesting, at least to us. Most locations in this series were griesen ore bodies. This one was a little more complex. It is quartz lithic sandstone, decomposing siltstone and greywacke. It was these mineralized zones that would have housed the Tin. The old timers would have just chased the higher grades with drives, pits and trenches. The 1980s operations would have chased a much larger "halo" around that high grade. If tin prices spike like they are anticipated, there's a chance this site will be an active prospect again. We just pray the old workings don't get nuked. If they do at least we have this digital reference to keep forever. Kind Regards. Ebenezer.

Great explore and video. I'm curious what the squeaking is in the background, it sounds like a hurricane lantern on a hook blowing in the wind.

Thanks mate. The annoying sqeak is our Sat phone swinging on my bag on a carabiner. I do it on purpose so I can tell if I drop it, as they are about $400 each.

@@qldabandonedmines yeah its an epic sound. And I watch Nathan too btw, I was a grommet back in the 80s 90s. I saw a cloubreak video with that track. With your show and with Nathans video too it gives off some really surreal, ancient, mysterious vibe, and I really like it.

@@lachlanscanlan5621 Well then mate, I'm going to have to dig up my bodyboarding video I edited in 1997. It was made with 2 x VCRs and audio cassettes! Its called "This Reeks" it's epic. It has a skate section and even a Wipeout and stunts section. Stunt section includes throwing large fly spray cans into the campfire then standing really close to it 😂😂😂 I'll see if I can digitize it and sent you a link from my Google drive.
