Have you ever lost someone you love and wished you had told them how much they meant to you? I know I have. It's important to cherish the people we care about before it's too late. And today visit an abandoned mansion that reminded me of how quickly things can change. In an instant we can go from our highest highs to our lowest lows. And this place is a testament to just that. Filled with memories of a past life to only be forgotten forever
Today we're taking a look at an abandoned mansion with its very own private island guest house. This place was built in 1941 and owned by a man we'll call Robert. Robert was a businessman and part of the United States Air Force in his younger years. He thought this place would be perfect for his family - his wife Ellie and their four children. Ellie was a stay-at-home mom who cared for the children and the estate, while Robert built up his family's fortune. But one day, in 2002, Ellie collapsed from a heart attack in her late 50s and ultimately passed away. This left Robert devastated. Even though he tried to live in the home by himself after all of their children moved away, he couldn't stand to be in the place where the love of his life took her last breath. So he left to be with his children, and the mansion has sat abandoned ever since, with many memories left behind. So come with me today, and let's see what's left.
I am an Urban Explorer from Oklahoma just traveling around finding the coolest forgotten places! follow me on my journey around the world finding the best unknown forgotten places on earth! Merch coming soon 🔥

Nice exploring. This just goes to show, no matter how much stuff you own, properties you collect,toys you have when you're old and bereft of love, none of it matters. You go out with what you came in: nothing.

Absolutely right, kids never know and never respect how much parents spend for kids and for their future, after grew up kids sees all as garbage or as parents must do this...but kids stay selfish. Parents always loose...
@amandasullivan1121

They were all grads of Harvard (him and his kids) and owned multiple properties. When you have that much money and success, one property out of 10 is peanuts to ppl like that. Plus he said they took care of him after he moved out. So you want them to work their own jobs, take care of their own homes, their father AND maintain this home, when they are probably millionaires!? lol weird how strangers are so judging when they have no idea what the circumstances are or what the mans wishes were
@PinkMartiniAZ
@PinkMartiniAZ Год назад
@@amandasullivan1121That's a lame and lazy excuse. Not to mention wasteful. You ask if we want them to work their own jobs, take care of their own homes, their father, and maintain his home? Millions of people have jobs and take care of their house and family (including their elderly parents) all at the same time, so... yeah. And if they are so rich, then they can hire companies to come out and clean out the home, auction or donate the things and sell the house for them. They can also hire live-in maids and nurses to help while taking care of him. Calm down.

I think the pink room is set up almost like a shrine for the lady of house who suddenly passed away from a heart attack. The flowers on the pillow on the bed seem to indicate that. The guest house is probably more interesting to see. I'd have to try to walk that bridge and go out there if I ever explored the property.

Seeing this makes me so curious about the history of the house and the family that lived there. I also find it very sad that homes can go from show pieces to this. Homes are like people, they begin in pristine condition, smell new, as they age they hold memories, secrets,love but eventually they fall apart and return to the earth.

I like the videos here. Fascinating topic. All okay, what I really ask is to get an impression of the floor plan. You guys are going from room to room without me getting an overview of the structure, really. Thank you very much. Keep going 👍🏽. I want to understand how they lived here.

Great to see you again. I'm watching from Ireland. I always enjoy your videos. Strange the way these homes are just abandoned? Why don't they sell them before all the decay happens? So sad. Bet it was beautiful when the family lived here. I hope this family are happy wherever they have moved on to.

It's so great to have a history behind a lost place even though it's a sad one. The house is so cool actually, the vintage vibe, round corners, the courtyard, the workshop, I'd like it a lot. Despite the history I'm surprised that the property was not maintained anymore, especially as the owners are wealthy and said to own several properties anyway. In the mancave-like room it's quite obvious that something, maybe a painting or framed photograph, must have been placed on the right-hand couch until not long ago. There weren't many dates unfortunately; however in one of the bedrooms there's a Big E flyer from 2006 and I don't think that a stranger brought that there. BTW on top of that is a photo of one of the daughters I'd guess. The boy's bedroom is a bit of a puzzle, why was it left like an about-ten-year-old's bedroom? You say they were four kids who all went to Harvard and therefore I'd guess they also went to upper class high schools that may have been boarding schools. But wouldn't they have come home on the occasional weekend, even when studying? This property will be located somewhere in New England, not on the other end of the continent from Harvard. I totally agree that the pink bedroom was set up as a shrine for the wife and I bet that all those items had their very special meaning to them. She must have worn that dress in a very special memorable moment, had a drink from that glass at a very special occasion etc. Most likely she was even featured in that newspaper. I would guess that the last thing Robert did before leaving was go to this room to say goodbye forever.

It would be interesting to get the story on why the family didn't sell the house after the Father died. Even if they are well off, it's a significant asset to let rot and forget about.

This is so well documented, and leaves you wondering why this mansion wasnt sold, rather than left to vandals and for nature to take over. Your empathy is evident, as is your compassion. Thank you. Is this filmed in Canada or the U.S. ?

Sad reality that many abandoned mantions and yet so many homeless people around.. wishing that one of those Mantions will give for a home of those are homeless people..🙏❤️🙏

You have a good heart. But I've seen really nice places like this that they used for homeless people, and they completely destroy it almost immediately. No matter how hard people try to give them a nice place to live, they will destroy it entirely. There's a reason that a lot of people are homeless, especially if their drug addicts or alcoholics, which is a large majority. They don't care about much, including your generosity.

Personally I think that this place is amazing. Too bad that they ignored the roof tho. They should have put a metal roof on to prevent it from caving in and just ruining this place from the rain. Why did'nt any of the family take better care of this awesome home. Great video. TFS with us.

While I do appreciate you and the videos you do and is so sad and depressing to see so many abandoned homes and money discarded like it's nothing. What some people would give to have an ounce of what so many of these owners have/had! Clearly taking what they have been given for granted...

Ive done cleanouts for evections,moveouts even deaths for the past 20 some years mainly apartments some houses,nothing like mansions,but ive always said i cant believe what people leave behind,its sometimes unbelievable,but i cant help but get excited when the houses are filled with stuff,it almost tells a story,as i sure you know,it can get quite addicting. You are very detailed when showing us these homes.. you got dirt over here...an owl,a table 😂😂😂, have fun guys an its cool your showing this kind of stuff.

The vibe I'm picking up from this place is that people were probably squatting and living here after the owner left when it was still nice and well kept. Then throughout the years more people started partying and hanging out destroying it.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if the father would not let the children go back to the house. If they would’ve gone back and taking things out of the house, and it may have caused him more pain. The one part of the basement where the ball was kind of reminded me of a canning cellar.

Amazing house!! I can only imagine how beautiful it was when it was built and while the people lived there! Would have been great if you could have gotten out to the guesthouse as I'm sure it's very interesting too. I think maybe those glass window blocks are original to the house, as any homes back in the 40's had them and were rather popular back then also. There is a paper one of the bedrooms that is from about Sept. 2006 that is about some sort of fair coming to the area. Maybe that was the last time someone lived there. I wouldn't know any other reason why it would be in the house, unless people stored things there from elsewhere. Again, thanks for always being respectful of the places you visit. This is a great find and as always a back story is always nice to hear on the houses, so keep the videos coming!
