Abandoned Kmart Weirton, WV 

For some reason I really want to go to Kmart during normal business hours.

I wasn’t sure the store was closed. Thank goodness the recording was there to confirm it.

I live in Weirton and it's sad to see Kmart go 😢 I loved going there and that's where I got my kids their Christmas Presents

The announcement said "please come back during normal business hours". When are normal business hours if they're closed?

It almost looks like the thing at 9:20 to 9:30 was a trash incinerator, based off of the tall smokestack. If I had to guess, that little door on the outside is to empty out the ash and whatever else remained after they burnt up the trash and the part attached to the building was where trash was loaded in.

I was here during the closing sale. That Kmart actually had good deals. I got a TON of Bears gear (hell of a find might I say) and two carts full for like $80. So sad to see another one close though

Come to barboursville ,wv there is an abandoned Hooters and a Kmart that is doing decent business.

Well nice you visited Kmarts in Weirton, I have memories of that store even when I was a kid. Yea, it would have been cool to see them stay open. If you didn't find something at Walmarts you could go there and most of the time find what your looking for. I work at that Walmart in Weirton, and some of the managers that worked at Kmart are now working with Walmart. Anyways wouldn't attempt to try and get in there, don't know but a few times I heard the alarm go off in the building, and police were there. Most the time I heard it was early in the morning. I would go the atm machine at the top part of the parking lot to get money, and then go to McDonald's which is across from the atm. Anyways very nice video you did, and hopefully something will go into that place, but don't know what!

That thing on the ground is a guide for centering what I assume is a dumpster that would be pulled up to it.

How can you come back during normal business hours when its closed for good?

Heh, they need one of those "This entrance is currently closed. Please use the main entrance." things at the Price Chopper supermarket on Eastern Parkway in Schenectady, NY, since the pharmacy/side entrance closes at 7pm (store's 24 hours but only the main entrance is open 24 hours)

Have you checked out the former Mountaineer Mall in Morgantown, WV it is pretty interesting. It’s still in good shape and you can walk around it. There is a telemarking business that’s inside. It is a great place for “mall walkers”

That KMart definitely had an auto service center at one time. The garage doors were identical to a local one here. I predict all Sears and Kmarts will be history during the first quarter of 2018.

Aw, these guys never got their big pantry reset. Couple of years ago a bunch of guys from this store came to help us turn all the shelves in our pantry aisle sideways and I was in charge of the daytime operations of that project. They were one of the best group of guys you could ask for for a large scale reset. I remember them telling me about those recording things to tell customers to come back during normal business hours. They thought it was weird that we didn’t have anything like that. Also their layaway button broke so they had a doorbell that rang up front at the service desk and they would call someone. Once they were done helping with our reset I told them I wanted to help with theirs and they were going to pay me to work up there for a week to do that, and they were scheduled to have it be done, but then they closed. Guess they didn’t like the reset anyway considering a week before we were announced to be closing they wanted us to flip everything back. We didn’t finish that as you know ;) Also the person who made the quilt out of Kmart shirts was from this store, as they told me at Super K

what up wallie this is josh well i was working at east stroudsburg kmart about six years and two months and i stated at 05/05/2011 to 07/26/2017 that year my last day of work that year and i was stocker and unload the trucks and push the shopping carts as well!

So sad to keep seeing these goes. Just hope the place I started at is going to stay up! Lots of customers and profit.

If you want to there is a K-Mart in Oak Hill, WV that has been closed since maybe 2012. There is also the one in Beckley that is set to close later this month. Hard to tell what will go in there.

The tall rusted steel thing behind the store is an incinerator, used to burn boxes, the tall tube like object is a smoke stack. Year ago most if not all huge stores had incinerators.

all the garage doors used to be Kmart Penske service center they replaced Tire oil changes brake jobs. the Kmart store in Weirton which is my hometown was there when I was a kid in the 80s I believe that the Kmart open up a stores between the 1960s and 70s

That stack was a box carton burner. the other was for a large compactor dumpster.

Those garage doors make me think that at one time, there could have been an auto center in that Kmart. I don't know - the one in Wooster (closed Sept. 3) didn't have one.

Come to dayton,ohio in Trotwood there's abandoned Best Buy, TNT Fashions, and other abandoned stores.

I think this on 250 Three Springs Drive Exit 5 Turn right and the Kroger is in the back of the plaza. Is the Ponderosa still there I used to shop here when I went to Kroger.

That's hilarious they bothered to do a motion detector on the front of the store, repeated the message forever that it's currently closed! More like it's closed forever, now. So Sears Holdings wasted TONS of money, installing that motion detector.

Our Kmart is closing it had signs that said all sales final so I bought a bunch of stuff and some gray Everlast knee length shorts anyway when I tried them on at home the back of them was low and I couldn't even wedge my ass in I got in half my ass lol I've still got the receipt and I'm gonna try to exchange them before it's to late.

Rumor has it that Big Lots was supposed to have been opened at this location in 2018, but the landlord (Blight-Lord) gave Big Lots a hard time so they pulled out. Just like the old Big Lots location at the Weirton Shopping Plaza. Been about 15 years now.... And it's STILL EMPTY.

Am pretty sure they will use that empty parking lot for some events and maybe use it to rent parking spaces. Am surprised was there no police or security driving or hiding around there usually when a building is vacant like a commercial retail building There's police or security driving around making sure no one causes trouble.

This is the Sears holdings CEO, his decisions have been lately to close a majority of Kmart stores vs Sears bc he owns Majority stock in Sears and would rather try and save the real dying chain! Keep in mind it was KMART who through their CEO purchased Sears! Sears did NOT buy Kmart! And with the CEO selling off the Sears craftsman line to black& decker And licensing out the Kenmore line, Sears has nothing! KMART still has their licensed brands or at at least a couple left!and @wallyb26 glad to hear you'd rather be in a Kmart than a Walmart!

The Kmart near my church is abandoned to. It was next to my church in Liverpool New York. I was away from church for 3 weeks because I was moving and came back to church and no more Kmart it went out summer 2017 June started to go and gone buy September. So sad to see my Kmart go. The very last hanging on for dear life Kmart in upstate New York is mattydale New York. No Garden center there in that one because it's in a strip mall like Liverpool was but a pharmacy(still open) and Kmart pizza place (that is no longer there. )what are we here in upstate New York going to do now one Kmart left in all of the state. Wen they close that's it. My basket ball program wants to take over the Liverpool store and turn it in to a gym don't know if it will happen but I hope so. We are full to the max with kids every year and Kmart would help us a lot. We desperately need more space asap.
