The Whitfield family had several homes. They owned the Mines and land at Kitts when I was a kid. Remember meeting Jack once when we came back to visit Harlan in 1972 just before I graduated high school. Must not have had any heirs.
Awesomely spooky old Mansion at night! That reflection of the full moon in the window is super spooky! It's such a beautiful place surely it will be restored and saved! It has such a beautiful view of the mountains too! Great video! Thanks for sharing Coyote's!👍
As someone who restores historic homes for a living, I'd love to restore this property. According to records I found while pausing and restarting your video, the City of Harlan bought this property in 2022 for $80k. The places on the outside that are in bad shape at the soffits you mention are box gutters. Common failures in homes this old and box gutters of that period, and very expensive to correct. Worse still is if the box gutters aren't fixed, it causes loads of problems in the exterior walls down the road and compromises the whole house. Best info I can find says the house was built in 1918 which pre-dates the current siding and that tells me the original siding should be underneath, but, I could be wrong. The windows are definitely not of the 1918 period, and that double oven in the kitchen would've been mid-60's/70's most likely. Apologies for just seeing this video a month after you posted it, but I only recently became a follower of your channel. Keep on doing what you do. Clay

Thanks Scott, and Papa Coyote sends a big thank you for the cup! Thanks for the Hot Wheels great timing on the Tesla truck we just saw one driving around Harlan.
I feel like it would be a perfect place for a BED & BREAKFAST if someone were to buy it when i was still in high school i was in the MUSETTES & we had our picture taken there
It is a beautiful place and it needs is a little lipstick and rouge ....I heard that line in a Kevin Costner movie , can't remember the name of the movie, let me go search and see if I can find what movie it's from and I'll edit it in later !! Love Y'alls videos ! I FOUND IT, it was a line from the movie "the war" 1994 Awesome movie !! I highly recommend it, it is set in rural Mississippi, and Kevin Costner comes back from Vietnam a changed man !!
They also owned quite a bit of property in Harlan, as a matter of fact they owned the property the Whitfield public library sits on they donated it to the city for the library that's why it's named after them
