We bought here paid the €3k deposit and 2 stages payments. We were getting worried as it was not mortgaged but our life savings we were paying out with no bank guarantees! We managed to get one guarantee after lots of arguing with the agent. Our agent was a company called MASA they were based up in Alicante and they said they only sold legal properties and they had a uk office and they were doing the presentations in our golf club. Everything seemed legitimate to us. However we were offered a transfer to mazarron country club only problem was thete was no choice of villas, only 2 bed bungalow in one area. So we cut our losses and went for mcc as we just wanted to save our money. Anyway been there 11 years and very happy with the area. We are closer to the sea and love the town. So for us it worked and we didnt lose any money, i still cant believe how everyone lied even here in the uk.

Hi. I was one of those people who bought a villa in the Almanzora country club complex. It took me years before I got the money back. Cost me a fortune in legal fees. Ironically the dealers were still selling the properties after the court shut them down. 😒

Nice one Shaun, certainly wouldn't have wanted to drive down that river bed over the Easter weekend. Another interesting place but such a shame for the people who lost their money

I was one of the people who got scammed at this off plan development back in 2005! After a long battle through the courts we got all of our money back thank goodness. I took 11 years in total. Luckily because of exchange rates we ended up getting back more than we paid. A lot of years of stress though!

Amazed at some of things that go on there. Just makes me think how lucky we were buying off plan on Condado.

My mother family comes from this town, I love the area and the big family still owns some country house and plots of land. We get olive oil for free for all the year long.

I remember we went here to look at a property to buy in 2005,i remember the Irish salesman wanting to collect us from where we were staying and drive us to ACC.We were a bit dubious so we followed him in our car.We were met with all the usual Bullshit Sales stories.The salesman told us that the plots were selling fast and was trying to get us to put down a 3000 Euro deposit.He had his 'Son' with him and explained that he and his Sister had just bought a property there and if we were quick we'd be able to choose the best plots left.We were told that there would be shops,a supermarket,restaurants,hair salons,a riding school for which the horses were being trained as we spoke.He pointed over on the hill and showed us a row of Palm Trees just been delivered from Egypt and another delivery was on it's way !.He explained that we should buy soon because all the new development in China was pushing up the prices of construction materials like concrete and steel.We told him we'd been looking for property near the coast and i remember him telling us not to buy there as 'it's full of Spanish',he said.I thought to my self well, we are in Spain !. Amazing the amount of housing developments there that never get completed. Is there a problem with homeless there like Britain? Those empty houses would be perfect for them.

Sean I have some old Spanish property magazines that feature this golf resort. The houses were really something but well beyond our budget

You have to ask the question why did they start building homes in this area without permission and got as far as they did with the development. People in authority were taking back hands to probably give the go ahead to start building. Its a travesty what went on in the Almanzora valley area and still is with the money people have paid in installments for their properties only for the powers that be to put a stop them and will never get a cent back. another good video Shaun.

We bought in 2005 through Masa International and believed all their promises, as they were a large, well established company. We lost our deposit and all 3 stage payments, we never received a bank guarantee for any of our payments and we are still fighting to get our money back to this day. Masa refused to help and just left us to fight alone. We sold our home buy there so we lost more than just the money. Angry isn’t the word.

Crazy seeing all these unfinished projects and terrible that people have lost so much money ............BUT it makes for great places to explore and to show us !
