The Rothschild family is a wealthy Ashkenazi Jewish family originally from Frankfurt that rose to prominence with Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a court factor to the German Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel in the Free City of Frankfurt, Holy Roman Empire, who established his banking business in the 1760s.
Built in the 1850s, this amazing 19th century Gothic mansion was used in the filming of Batman Begins in 2005. Failed development plans led to its vacated state.

I think that round structure you found at around 9:30 might be an ice house. Before refrigeration people used to buy and store large blocks of ice shipped in from Norway and other places for use during the summer. The opening scenes of Frozen show how it was done. The ice would then be packed in a structure like that and insulated with sawdust and the ice used during the summer.

Seeing Mentmore Towers again brought back many happy memories as I used to stay at The Stable Yard B & B backing on to the grounds for 2 years back in the mid 80s. It was here that some of the Royal Mews carriages were stored back in WW2. Used to spend many a summer's evening walking around the grounds & enjoying the views. At the time the sunken Italian garden was still maintained & could still go in the house (mostly empty of artefacts) but still looked smart particularly when spruced up for the summer ball. They were always filming there, adverts like Timotei Shampoo, an American version of Florence Nightingale (played by Jaclyn Smith). The Earl of Rosebery's Derby winners Ocean Swell & Blue Peter are buried on the grass verge as indicated by the plaques. Several of the trees along the main drive had plaques indicating they were planted by Victorian & Edwardian royalty. At one time Mentmore, Waddesdon Manor & Halton Hall could all see each other across the Vale of Aylesbury.

Was this "insider" you keep referencing, even commenting on the topic that forum was about? that forum was about? And did his "insider" information have any relevance to the topic of that forum? Or was was he only doing this as clickbait to lead readers away from that forum and onto his own site? (which is basically what You are doing here?) What a place! It's obvious they still do a bit of upkeep, the landscaping and security (probably the gardener wearing more than one hat!) One wonders why they let such a beautiful place slowly succumb to rot and ruin? It took a lot of savvy to see those rooms inside, they were very cool. Especially the art work and mirrors. Mad amounts of money have been dumped into this place, the furnishings fit for royalty! I have to say well done getting through those small areas underneath, I'm claustrophobic and have seen far too many vampire movies, where they sleep in the cellar during the daylight hours, so crawling underneath there would have been a hard no for me! Then all I could think of was those pipes and cables running throughout and how much it would stink to have to plumb and upgrade the wiring! I mean someone had to do that already! Imagine have the fortitude to complete a job like that, mad respect to whoever got the jobs done! What an awesome home, thanks for taking us along :)!

@@blueice011 Did they leave this property to rot or was it seized by the government. Reading from comments, there are horrors (alleged or otherwise) associated with the family and by extension, their property as well. Still, the architecture and the history might be worth it if used for something useful than being left to rot. I hate seeing buildings, mansions and castles being left to decay. It's like removing a part of history.

@@tineegonzales7365 I believe the house and the estate have long list of owners since the Rothschild family. I'd encourage you to google Menton Towers' history, if you are interested in more details. It's last owner is believed to be Syrian born British property investor Simon Halabi and the building was used as a golf club until it was presumably left to decay.

This looks much much older than they are saying. Looks like it's several centuries old. Expecially the brickwork that is shown under ground

@Kleos Aye, this I also know, but there are also those, the families we know of are just puppets for those above bt also to note, there are those equal to the entities at the top and even above them, that are working in humanities favour, to restore balance. For what happens in our realm, reverberates throughout all realms in space and time and these dark players have gone too far, and so the clean up, the battles have commenced,

It's awesome how calm cool and collected you kept throughout but what impressed me the most was that you kept filming and because of that even though you only got into a small bit of the actual building you still have some pretty amazing video! Luv your channel keep up the good work 👍
