I was a civilian contractor there in the 80’s. When I worked there they had missiles as well and the radar was part of the early warning system. The brick built building was the entry gate house which you had to go through to gain access. I have visited it again last year and it’s a shame to see it in such a poor state when it was part of our Cold War history. Great vid guys, thank you. ☺️
I accidently came across this place off the road. I had quick look around for about 15 mins. I had a feeling the whole time I was being watched and left after having a quick look around. I now know I was pushing my luck and narrowly missed some free and unwanted cross country training.
It a great bit of history but we'll never try to return again after the owners turned up and set their pack of large dogs on us.. we're just too old now for all the running about lol 😄
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu thanks for the reply. Is the Underground bunker that is sealed up with a welded up door on the front. In The building that is in the middle of this site?
It's sometimes difficult to get the right mix of history without giving too much away.. people are always telling us they'd like more history so we do try but of course we want to protect these places too as much as we can.. tbh this site appears to be so well protected and the owners don't seem to care how they do it so with any luck if anyone that does figure out where it is and tbh it's pretty well known anyway will be sensible and stay well clear!
