I found an incredible abandoned ski resort in japan that had several abandoned vehicles on the property along with an entire ski store full of ski equipment left behind. This was definitely a very fun explore and I hope you guys enjoy it.

Great Explore H . When I was in Scouts as a kid . We climbed Hollyburn Mt. In North Vancouver . We were to follow the old chairlift path up the Mountain . There were huge Trees that had fallen over the years that were so big you could not climb over them . Tangled amongst these fallen Giants were Crushed lift seats and tangled cables . What a climb with the snowline only a quarter the way in . There was a Cabin that we had use of at the top for two nights . Then the leaders caught the Cabin on fire and they use our 10 gallons of Hot Chocolate to put it out . Going down we found a very small creek that crossed the Trail . We road our Backpacks down this frozen Wild Bobsled shute . Good thing the frozen part ran out before the Waterfall . Lol . Have Fun Bro and Be Safe .

I enjoyed this one especially for the outdoors. I love that misty, foggy early morning time. It seemed nice and quiet and serene up there. Thanks for making that long trek to get there! I have to say that I can see why they don't try to sell things like the ski equipment. Who's going to buy it? Other resorts already have their own, and how many people are going to buy (and store and transport) skis for the occasional vacation? By the time a place like that has gone under and is forced to close down, whatever they could sell it for wouldn't even be a drop in the bucket. Second, I had to look up the housing issue - I read just a little, but got this - because of earthquakes and fires, the building codes change every 10 years or so, and it's cheaper and easier to rebuild from scratch than bring a house up to code. So the homes depreciate to nothing in a short time, and knowing this, there's not much incentive to keep them in tip top shape since there will be no resale value. That's probably a gross oversimplification, there were other factors. And interestingly, unlike here, they value land and homes separately. At this point, it's partly a cultural thing too I think. I read the spiritual thing applies to religious places only, not homes, something to do with spiritual renewal and growth. Apparently things are changing, but one article said there are currently 10 million abandoned homes in Japan. Yes, million! Didn't see anything about why they would leave so many possessions though. It could also be that this place closed because it wasn't up to code for earthquakes. Sorry this is so long, but wanted to pass on at least the gist of it. 😀

Thank you so very much for taking us with you as you reminisce about the Nevele in its prime. I have been fascinated by it since I first saw JP do his first installment of his thorough exploration of the whole resort, along with then and now photos of it. The wanton destruction and graffiti-filled buildings breaks my heart - some people need to find better things to do with their time!!! As long as there are people who can share their stories regarding the history of such a beautiful resort will keep it alive for others to tell and experience (even if it is only in our mind's eye). 🥰💖💖💖

I watched this video with a combination of feelings, some of which were amazement at how much valuable equipment was just sitting there. The other feelings were of what a waste this all symbolized. It seems to me that this facility could've been repurposed before it was left to the ravages of nature and the elements. The other feeling I had was of the "ghosts" of the people who tried on boots for size, slept in the beds and ate in the dining rooms. I could only imagine that this place had some real "fans" who probably came back each year, and while it was opened, I'm thinking they'd never in their wildest dreams would they guess that one day a fellow with a camera would be walking alone through the empty place, recording all of the gross waste...man's scar left on the natural environment of the area. Thanks for this very atmospheric video and the emotions it evoked!

This place was awesome!! I can’t believe it was only open less than 20 years. What a waste of money. And all that equipment too. The little boots for little kids were so cute! That place seemed really big so I thought it was a hotel when you first got there. Since it wasn’t a hotel I bet the beds were for kids who needed to take a nap. The ski lift was fascinating. I’ve never seen one before, as I’ve never been skiing. It sure did look like a fun place to visit. Great video Harmin!! Take care and stay safe out there!! 😊 ⛷🏂

It definitely had a apocalyptic feel to it. Yes it was up in the mountains away from everything. Again, Japanese people have I believe a superstition about places they own and only seem to want to stay in one place 25 yrs before they leave, usually all their possessions too. Idk but I witnessed that time and time again. It was cool to see the lifts there too!

Hi, so many ski's and boots, wow. I wonder why they never sold the equipment off as it would at least have given them some revenue back. It looks like it would have been quite a cool, family friendly place in it's day as they even had children's ski's and boots. Thanks for taking us along, I don't think it will last too much longer though with all of the rain etc. x

@@qhkqchk2920 maybe not cost effective for the owners, though you’d think some workers would have taken the stuff. It’s all unwell kept now, but people use vintage skii equipment. Would have been worth it to grab the stuff. Probably could still get money from some of it. Nothing compared to resort costs. A few other abandoned places had perfectly good arcade stuff too, really weird because people would definitely buy it. Maybe not worth the owners time, but you’d think someone would take it and sell it.

Do you think the 25 year thing is cultural or economic or both? That is a lot of stuff left but if it’s due to economic troubles of the times I guess there is no one to sell it to. Japanese abandoned places are so interesting. I’ve always thought of it as being so crowded that anything abandoned would soon be replaced. Thanks for sharing another great find.

This was likely a casualty of the Japanese economic bubble that burst in the early 90's. Lots of new ski ares were built and existing one's expanded in the previous decade. Too many for the population to sustain. Surprised this one lasted as long as it did. Many ended up closing or reducing their sizes in the following years. Also, for the majority of places, little of the infrastructure has been upgraded since, unlike American and European counterparts. Still a great place to ski!

I wonder if they leave everything behind to report as huge losses on their taxes? Do they pay taxes? Is it an insurance write-off? I keep trying to find a reason for the abandonment of the equipment in these abandoned buildings. The gift shop was mostly cleared out, but was it by the owners or vandals?
@InfamousCrimeLocations
@InfamousCrimeLocations 4 года назад
Hmm very good question! Again, it is very common for Japanese people to leave all their belongings when they abandon places there. I saw it in almost all of the places I went to. It's like a superstition they have. 25 yrs in one place, then they leave all their stuff and build again.
