This and your other DX CRX video were a treat to watch - the HF's in particular were ahead of their time in a number of ways. The engineering and details are still noteworthy 30+ years later. B38 Capital Blue with the silver lower half and red accent just like this one was the best color for the CRX. Hard to keep those front panels from cracking, however! If you do decide to part it out, I would be very interested in the wheels/center caps. Good luck!
That's awesome and I'm glad you liked them. I plan on doing lots more on these CRXs over the next months. Unfortunately the Blue HF is the most far gone out of the CRXs I have, but at the same time, pretty unique and could be worth restoring for sure. I agree, the wheels and wheel caps are the best!
I have the same car(dx automatic, 87,000 orig.miles, blue) ....and a 77 Corvette, the crx gets much more attention by far, I can't believe how much people love the crx , always get offers to sell it , thumbs up from others on the road ................don't part it out keep and fix it up., they're extremely rare , I live in the N .Y. C area and I've only seen one other 1st gen. Crx on the road .................p.s.....,.,.just realized you have a vette also, cool.!!!!........…..... Erik
Wow. Super rare to have an automatic crx , that's really cool...keep it. I've been driving my red CRX a lot this summer and every single time I take it out...it gets attention ....it's worked perfectly for 35 years, so that's pretty cool.
I’ve had a mint 89 and mint 91 time capsule both sold way over what I bought them for but I miss these fun small cars I definitely want that first gen crx square body I like just like all my old ford picks
I’ve got an 87 with 23,000 origin miles on it! Any tips on getting the carburetor to run like it’s supposed to? Lol. Really want to get it back on the road! Cheers.
Wow, that's amazing and I have 2 , 87s aswell. Not with low mileage line yours. My carbs have always worked well, but thinking of rebuilding my red CRX carb this winter ...I'll let you know how it goes , or do a video on that . J

I'm happy that I have it and it runs really good, just needs some work on the underside. Nothing that could not be done with a month or two or concentrated work. I love my original red CRX. Did you see that video. I'll be doing an epic trip with the red CRX in April 22 and will post some highlights. Thanks for your comments btw. J

That's great and in my experience the automatics were super extra rare as the vast majority of CRXs were standard. Keep looking and you may find one around, but they are getting harder and harder to find. I got my silver and blue CRX from various add like Craigslist. I got my red CRFX brand new in 1987 and kept it the same for 35 years. These cars are fun.

Getting ready to restore a 1987 Civic DX. Only 160K miles, parked for about ten years. Needs a new interior and exterior, carb rebuild, some electrical. It never had AC which was still considered an option at the time. I'm going to have to scrounge parts to add that. Shocks, struts, motor mounts, brakes, all new hoses and wires, fuel pump, and it should be ready to go!
You can fit a 1970 honda CB750 motorcycle in there if you take out the passenger seat. I had the same model, year and color CRX that had a leaky no.3 aux valve that would foul out the spark plug. I hauled that CB750 from white city,OR to Coos Bay,OR on 3 cylinders. What a BAD ASS little car!!!
Yes they do. I just went out and checked and the needles light up perfectly . Makes for a nice looking retro looking instrument cluster layout. I love it!
Hey I have a 86 CRX si. Having issues with the clutch I believe the clutch has failed however looking for insight as to I identifying the source of the problem. I think they throw out bearing has failed and as I was driving to work one day clutch action became harder and harder until finally I was not able to disengage the clutch and had to drive it with the starter. Any help would be greatly appreciated
This will be the year I decide what to do with it....I'd love to get it back on the road as it is a truly unique CRX...totally different from the other 2 first gen CRXs that I have. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Hello. Any chance you have spare parts for sale? And any info on the codes these cars throw. Mine starts and idles but when driving the fuel cuts off. On the ecu the 8 and the 2 are lit

I enjoyed the video. I have a 1986 hf. I was wondering if you could tell me how the lip is attached to the front bumper? Mine is only held on but a bolt on each end. Looks like there are supposed to be some type of fasteners to hold it in place. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I'll have a look at what you are looking for and see if I can take a few pics to post. In general, they did use fasteners evenly spaced along the seem of the bumper and the wind deflector / skirt thing. I've replaced a few with some stainless steel nut and bolt / washer combo. The original clips were plastic. Thanks for sending in the comments.
Nice!! Always good to have saved another classic CRX. I drove my red CRX over 10k this year and never had an issue, crossed the US from Washington State to Detroit.
