Thank you very much for this very interesting and informative video presentation, it is good to be able to not only see the buildings but also to see inside and how they have been modernised to suit the trends and requirements of the time. It is great that so much is in such good condition and the people are very grateful for people like Chris and others who volunteer to help to keep the history of this important place alive. The people are greatly indebted to you for taking us along with you.

We are so incredibly thankful for everyone who has been helping Chris out and to Chris himself. He is very dedicated to preserving the history here and is very knowledgable about everything that took place there. We can't wait to go back and document more of the tunnel as it gets cleared out. We were so honoured to have been invited to document such an important site.

@@PinInTheAtlas Nah, i didn't like this one, I loved it. Y'all are doing really great things out there. Ever improving! Bet ya had a blast. Places like that where i lived, worked, and played all bring back memories. Some good as is there. Down the road i used to ride my mule into the local bar and we'd both get "tipsy". Got pulled over by the coppers one night on the way home. He laughed so hard he sent us home. Didn't know who had the best time. Me, which was barely hanging on or the mule.🙂

Isn't Chris great! He certainly loves what he does. Massive shout out to him & all the fantastic volunteers 👏 If it wasn't for all of them, this place would be truly forgotten & left to decay. Looking forward to seeing the tunnel open. Very exciting! I must say though Andrea, Steve was extremely brave walking through that door after you said about the spider. I would've wanted to know; Where it went? Did you see where it went? How big was it? Are you sure it definitely fell onto the floor? Was it a jumping spider that goes for your jugular? Are you REALLY sure it's not here now? Have you got the spider repellent? (Yes, spider repellent exists. I have 3 bottles of it lol!) Kidding aside you've produced a brilliant, informative & wonderful video for us this week. Thank you. Found it all so interesting. The wind gusts got up to 100mph last night. Cabin roof stayed put! Thank you for your email my lovely, I'll reply very soon. Have an awesome week, stay safe, take care and put more pins in your atlas. 🐾🐾 Toby says Hi!

Chris was great. You can tell how passionate he is about Sutro, and he is a wealth of knowledge. We spent the best part of the day with him and camped overnight at the tunnel. In Steve's eyes, any spider is huge! Even if it's like a money spider, and yes, I have to deal with them! We do have a spray that we use in the truck, and anything that comes into contact with it dies. Glad you enjoyed the video and that your roof stayed on. Sending love and light to you and your Dad.

Thank you Ron. We were very fortunate that Chris invited us. The tunnel links many mines. Some we think are collapsed but there’s the Chollar mine in Virginia City that does tours. We didn’t do it so not sure what it’s like. Here’s the link travelnevada.com/mines-prospecting/chollar-mine-tours/ Plus “Ask Jeff Williams” has a video on Sutro and the mines in Virginia City. He does a totally different take on things as he is a geologist.

The video was about the Indiana stone hedge. Its by Story. Really scary place! I wouldn't go there even if i could make it up that hill. Squire Boon an Daniel Boon were running from the Indians and found a cave. Squire said it saved their lives an lived there from then on. The cave is so beautiful you should go there for sure! Ulysses S Grant gave a speech (after he was president) from the steps of the Sutro Mansion. He and his wife also rode in the tunnel the full length. Sutro also brought frogs into the little community so he could have frog legs. They would live in the pond that water from the tunnel would drain into. There are frogs still there today.

We actually captured one of the frogs on camera in the last few minutes of the video. Yes we have heard that and after the ride and exit near Virginia city I believe they said it was a hot and miserable! Thanks Maryel!

The delapidated looking house you walked into is kinda what I want for my dream house. The building looks like cr*p on the outside, but the interior has modern amenities and even drywall. I want to build a similar cr*ppy looking house, but leaning with the flow of the prevailing wind. I do want to install a large wood fired stove for cooking, baking, and heat, but have it rigged up for propane also. I worked in construction for 30 years and my main trade is structural. So the lean of my dream house will have concealed steel columns and beams set at an angle with the wind making it look like wind is blowing it over. The interior will be modern wall finish materials, modern tubs and showers, LED lighting, tankless water heater that runs on burning wood or propane, and run the house indepently of the grid with wind, solar, and water for electricity if a stream is available. The ass kicker is that I hear people say to start small and grow a little at a time. Some sugest to start with a 1/4 - 1/2 acre. I want to have livestock, raise poultry, a green house for some plants and vegetables, and grow other produce and medicinal plants outside. I want to have a private race track for dirt bikes and my own private 4x4 trails. I want to hunt on my land, and yes I would down Bambi because Bambi was created for mankind's food. 1/4 - 1/2 acre, really?? I'm thinking 10 miles square and then grow!! Oh, did I mention I want a garage to house a Harley for everday of the week and a spare in case one breaks down!! I own two JEEPs now, but I can imagine having more. Probably an FC (forward control) JEEP like one that you fillmed in one of your videos. This is a fun video. You got to revisit Sutro and got to see a bit more than the last Sutro video I saw, and you made a cool new friend!! I wonder if you can seen yourself volunteering to help rise the place from the dead. Imagine a work PARTY with like minded people and even have a big *ss cook out/bar-b-que maybe a potluck as you work on preserving history for the posterity!! What an awesome party that would be!!
