These old David Browns are good machines. My grandfather bought one from a local farmer several years ago when he retired his farm. It always started right up when needed and ran without issue. The only reason we no longer have it is because he sold it. It was a bit too big for what he needed and traded it toward the New Holland 1715 we still have now. People knock on some tractors for being basic or entry level but I personally think those are the best ones. Very little to worry about, cheap to fix, do the job and no computers to go bad. :)

This is my first experience of them but everyone seems to swear by them. In fairness it fired right up. I've found a 990 that's been idle for decades, looking forward to seeing if that'll start. Thanks for watching 👍

@@davesworkshop2714 there are a few yes but still considered uncommon. Depending on the state like mine Michigan it's really hard to get parts. I know of maybe a handful here of owners i talk to be have seen at least 10-15 on the market place. These are mostly a Midwest tractor. There is one big place in Kentucky that part's these out but otherwise salvage yards here just don't have any so most of the time you have to travel more than 8 hours to get anyting or have it shipped with a extreme shipping price. After witnessing the tractor and it's condition and surrounds my guess is 17 to 18 years of sit time at the very least. Of course it was said the owner gave the information the plastic turning unit was the oil level stick. All of the electrical connections to the starter need removed and cleaned. She needs a snort of Cosby Sauce. The owner could tell a guess as to sit time. + or minus 5 years. Upon further inspection my guess is 27 to 28 years.

@@davesworkshop2714 No i am from sweden :) The old Cropmaster did i acutally fire up all by myself the first time in over 40 years back in around 2006 when i was only 11-12 years old believe it or not.. i had been with my dad and already learnt ALOT from him since he was a heavy truck/tractor Mechanic and i loved to hang out with him and fix all kinds of things.. used coaxial cables from the antenna as ignition cables back then lol.. engine was stuck but i filled it up with diesel fuel and put a breaker bar and a pipe on the crankshaft as i only wieghed about 25-30 kg myself and got it freed up, took the starter and carb apart and got it fired up :) but it wasnt until 2020 that i drove it on the same lands as my grand pa used to drive it on in the 60's to 70's. I Had to split the tractor to get the clutch working and change some bearings in the gearbox before i could drive it and put some new tires on.. felt really good to finally drive it after all those years since i first fired it up
