Alaska is beautiful. In the summer 1978 l visited a small village called Yakutat. I got the chance to see the Yakutat Glacier. Truely amazing. Mayor of Yakutat offered to take myself and my aunt there. The tide was going out in the bay at the time we arrived. Most of the fallen icebergs where off to the side. We had just about close to a hour before tide change to listen to the thunder as sheets of ice fell into the ocean. The Mayor mentioned that the indigenous people would paddle their canoes close to the icebergs to touch and test their bravery. Thank you for sharing.

Wow Dustin…I learn sooo very much from you, each time that I watch your video’s…& I’m old enough to be your mother😳🤣 I ALWAYS sooo enjoy the scenery!!! I’ve never been to Canada, but it is very beautiful!!! A bit to cold for this AZ adapted girl!!! I lived in WY for 32 years, sooo was used to it…my body has acclimated & I pray that I never have to go back!!! I remember, all to well, the…not being able to feel your fingers & toes, the wind that cuts straight through to the bones, the shoveling at 4:30 am, just to be able to get out of the driveway to go to work…ohhh yes…the good ole days…NOT!!!😳 I’ll take cozy, by the fireplace, any day 👍🤣 I learned sooo very much about glaziers that I didn’t know!!! When I could walk, I was on one in MT! But had no idea how magnificent they are!!! Sooo very sad that global warming is destroying them😰😢 Thank you Dustin, for sharing this wonderful adventure with us! I loved it ❤️

Just amazing. I’ve always been a geography nerd, and I used to gaze at the map of British Columbia wondering what the heck Atlin is like. Coming from big city Burnaby, there’s always a sense of curiosity in me about northern BC. Your glacier segment was fascinating, and so important to talk about. Climate change is hitting glaciers HARD. They are stunning features on our gorgeous planet. As always, thanks for embarking on such epic adventures, and taking us along with you. I am a fan.

Tyler Lees>> Thank you for the reference! I was just wondering if those were narrow or regular gauge or something else entirely and if I could find some info on that line down here in the Excited States. Now, at least, I have something to go on! In those Victorian days, nobody could tell anyone that something was impossible or too difficult. It was an amazing time of sheer cussedness and a lot of genius yet so much of the evidence is rotting away or has been built over top of. Thank goodness stalwart history and nature nerds like Dustin just have to get out there and see what's beyond the end of the road or over the mountain tops!! And, always drop a line or two of fishing line for something fresh for supper : )! What an amazing channel!!

My late Bride and I travelled BC, Yukon and parts of s. Alaska in 2005 for two months the in our van, tenting most of the way. We visited the townsite of Atlin and learned that the Yukon and White Pass Railroad brought visitors to Atlin in the early part of the 20th century, to spend a vacation on one of the luxury lake boats that plied the waters of the Atlin lake.

Atlin is a special spot. We almost moved there many years ago, but circumstances changed and we weren't able to make it work. Loved the 'bonus' glacier footage. On our trapline here in the Yukon, we have lots of eskers left behind by melting glaciers. I love imagining what it must have been like covered in ice. They are a neat land formation and make great trails when you get up on top of them. I have a few places you might be interested in checking out if you are back up this way!
