@@geoffbell166 Just South of Oaro I think. When I was about ten years old I walked into it. That would've been in the early 1960s. The line is now built around it beside the sea on an embankment. Not much of a deviation really.

In the 1980's some Government agency wanted to put Kaikoura back into Marlborough. It would have cost a fortune re-arranging electric supply as Kaikoura got its power from the Waipara in the south.
