With a house left in that kind of state, you kind of have to wonder if the people who lived there left one day, planning to come back, and then died in a horrible accident.
@growlingbehemoth 2008 is when we crashed (recession). This house doesn't strike me as being left due to the economy. It looks like they ran to the grocery store and never returned. No, unfortunately we probably do not want to know what happened. So sad!
Maybe they drowned. They are on the water. Some people think the ocean is harmless or they underestimate the power of currents. Even experienced swimmers/ divers get caught by them and end up dying.
It was a holiday home to the doctor who made Grey's Anatomy (?) the not revised version I think? None of the grandchildren wanted the house so they just abandoned it. It's a shame tho, it's such a nice house :p
After the housing crash back in '08, I worked cleaning out houses that had been foreclosed on and abandoned. People left everything. The closets were still full of clothes, family pictures and college diplomas were still on the walls, these were houses that had been empty for a year but looked like people left a few minutes before. And we're not talking cheap houses either, these were typically in rich neighborhoods. That was an interesting job.
I did the same for 8 years . It always amazed me what people would leave behind. But I did enjoy finding those hidden jewelry hiding places. And I found that women would hide money on the top of kitchen cabinets , and bedroom closet`s under the carpets.
LOLOL - I was thinking the same thing; A couple dozen dime-store novels doth not make for a 'full library'; A more accurate statement would be 'there are some books on built in shelves in the living room. Also, the books are junk fiction and not indicative of a 'very intelligent' inhabitant. By reason, no one who is very intelligent would leave a house to decay.
Antonio APC79 if you are only around black mold for a while it can give you symptoms that are like a flu or cold. Like coughing, nausea, headache, stuff like that. If you are exposed to black mold for a long period of time it can be more dangerous but it most likely won’t kill you. Memory loss, persistent headaches, trouble breathing, and just general pain in your body. So not fatal but definitely not fun
@@elissamyers7321 I’d be scared to eat any food she cooked, knowing that could have gone bad upwards of 2 years prior. I’ve realized how good I’ve got it. It took me 8 years before I realized what expired food was. Is it sad or great that it took that long?
@Dr. Random not O1O Probably sad. We had some kind of food in the cabinet that I saw last year and it expired in 2020. Just like some mustard I saw at school a few days ago. We don’t use that cabinet much.
The house is actually up for sale the reason why the previous owners left in such a rush was because they discovered the black mold and was told to leave everything how it was it was owned by a doctor and his wife that was a nurse they have three children and it on bailie beach rd mattituck ny 11952 The reason I know this is my stepfather has a beach house about four houses down from this one they are trying to sell the property the house is infested with black mold and on a side note the candles and all that stuff was staged I’m sorry but it was
Kyinthesky it spores into everything and can make some people very sick and it can be impossible to get better if the body can’t detox If they was trying to stay healthy, heal or get better they would’ve had to leave it all behind
Kyinthesky it sometimes depends like in my house we had black mold somehow and it got on just bout everything that was in the clothes a whole bunch on sentimental stuff and clothes had to throw everything away
I always feel uncomfortable when idk who and why it happened. I'll spend hours researching who the owners were until I'm satisfied. It's such a beautiful farm house too. The wood floors are incredible. Such a shame. It looks like French farmhouse revival style.
lying piece of Shit My thoughts, exactly. Like the Trivial Pursuit board; no one holds onto the cards, number 1, and the cards were so nicely placed on the table as if people just ran away in the middle of a card game, number two.
They live near a beach, dust is almost never a thing in homes like that. Now ants on the other hand....those are everywhere near beaches! I’m surprised I didn’t see much bugs in this house.
I noticed that too. You could see the outline on the table from maybe the game box... but obviously they "staged" many things... that beer box in the fridge would be black moldy and crumbling... most of these videos are just clickbait.
Exactly what I was thinking and almost always think when I see videos of houses abandoned like this. Like the kids room...afterwards the shot out that little window (8:21) ... I imagined a child looking out that window and now that child is an adult with the memories of the house & gazing out the window, then for them to stumble across this video an have the reaction you stated. I hope that happens and if it does I hope they can/will tell us about the house & why/how its abandoned&/who lived there etc.
This is really weird but when I read the comment it talks about attorney general barr I thought was weird because this isn't a video about that or anything near it and then when I clicked on it to look at the two replies the whole comment changed to be relevant about this video and the people that commented commented on that. Is anybody else seeing a comment about attorney general barr? And then clicking on it and it changed?
Who wants a SuperWoofer from 1985 or a 2008 case of beer? Apart maybe for the wood paneling there's no valuable. Add ten years of seaside weather and it'll crumble.
I know of this home. I think it belongs to the family of a very popular and prestigious family of doctors and surgeon's. I'm pretty sure this is like a second home (maybe vacation spot?) and both husband and wife passed away and the family never came back to it. Someone in his family (uncle, brother etc) wrote books on surgery. So no it's not fleeing,or murder,or prison... It's that they passed away and as you can see it's a handful to manage that property. Cool video tho
Why is the whole house decaying like that though if it's only been abandoned for 7-8 years? There's literally black mold on everything. Never seen anything like that except in buildings that have been abandoned for decades
@Dirty Lettuce other explorers went by, thats how they find out this place in the first place. Some other people took all the wine bottles too. Third floor of this house, where the bunk beds where, finally fell off last year.
I absolutely love the fact that you don’t add music in your videos. During the moments when you don’t talk, the silence in the house giving off the abandoned vibes, I love it! Most explorers I watch add in too much editing and music, it’s just not enjoyable but your videos are great! Can’t wait to see more from you man!
This is quite mysterious. It looks like the family just went away for the afternoon. I love the arched windows in the bedroom and the circular room where the bunk beds were. The black mold tho, is very dangerous so please wear a mask when you enter a place like this. Awesome find guys.
Idk how people do this shit by themselves. I’d be terrified of a person hiding out in there. That’s the creepiest part of all, you never know who’s lurking in those places.
How did you think people like Charles Schwab, D.Trump & etal. became real estate moguls? By charity /voluntary/ donations from working people with families?
@@aries-vl7it I have watched one bloke go through some abandoned homes, some have been left very recently and others have been either used for fly tipping, One house was practically jammed packed with all sorts. They even look through drawers and cupboards, with their bare hands too! so fuck knows what they could be picking up too.
I disagree, leaving drawer's open is a tell tale sign that people left and aren't coming back; who opens a drawer and then leaves it open. Especially with little children around. No they left in a hurry, and they don't look like they're coming back; so far they haven't. Black Mole is Dangerous, that could have force people out; but it didn't look that bad. Except you can't see inside walls, they might have been told to leave everything. The clothing was mostly folded in the drawers, so I'd assume that picture albums; jewelry and electronics of value might have been taken. If people were fleeing in a panic, clothing would have been thrown and dropped on the floor and things would be disorganized everywhere from rifling through stuff. My guess is either black mold force them out or they were members of a witness protection program, given a short time to leave and told to take only a day or two's worth of clothing. That would explain why there was no picture's on the walls of family also.
Liberty GiveMe Yes-it was so obvious! That was probably the reason they took off and left everything. I hope the guy filming burned his clothes afterward.
It's very sad to see that their children and grandchildren didn't bother to come and restore this beautiful house. They must have have lots of memory and good time to remember. Very sad.
And it's a beach-house! I thought everybody liked beach houses! Maybe there was a hurricane/storm and they fled! So beautiful even the gazebo so close to the beach you can just sit there and watch the ocean while sipping on a glass of lemonade at noon feeling the ocean breeze and sunshine at the same time !! I wonder where is this?
I know it’s been a year, but if the bank foreclosed on the house they don’t own it anymore so no one can go take that stuff or repair it. Probably different where you are but in the US they take the house if you can’t pay the mortgage. I think this house is abandoned bc of black mould infestation. It causes massive health issues so they were probably told to leave everything bc it has mould spores on it.
I can think of 3 things! 1- hit the lottery and just left ( I would do that) 2- husband got into big trouble and had to leave ASAP 3- the house is haunted.
Yeah, super lame It’d be way cooler if he said, “...so I went into this abandoned house & arranged/played w a bunch of shit that was already in there. i.e: “I went through the closets & found a bunch of board games & decided to set up the trivial pursuit game..just to trip out the next explorers.”
Yep, I was thinking of the same thing!!! Almost every room had a book open up!! Why would you want to light candles?? Chester drawers were open here and there??
@@patriciaparsons2655 Because he had already gone through the house taking still photos. That's why the candles were lit and dresser drawers were conveniently opened the way they were. It also explains why his tripod was already upstairs laying on the bed.
chief tp It comes from a variety of sources including plants, roads, wind, clothes dryers, electronics, attics, basements, air conditioning and heating ducts and vents, pets, pollen, insects, carpeting, knick knacks. If you live in the south, coastal states, desert, or Southwest, you have more than your fair share of dust due to excess pollen, windy, and dry conditions. But not matter where you live, dust will be a problem and it needs to be addressed.
If it has been 10 - 15 years that the house has been abandoned, it could have been due to the recession of 2008 (Great Recession). A lot of people owed more on their house than the value of the house itself and just walked away from their property. This could have been a second home / vacation property and the homeowners were overextended. Ironically, it was the collapse of the housing market that started that disaster.
Agree, there is a lot of stuff they placed around that they pretend was left like that. Towards the end the little table with the Gin on it.. There is very little dust on the seashells and the mug to the left, even the table. Anything left for 10 years gets a considerable amount of dust on it. Absolutely placed there by these guys very recently. (as he alludes, they are doing picture shoots also)
Where's the paper from 2008? There's nothing about the house that has any tech or decor from that decade. It seems staged, a home obviously abandoned in the 1980s or 1990s and has a case of Blue Moon in the fridge, come on people, it's called staging an abandoned house. 👎🏻
There's nothing valuable or even collectable in this house. It's all just cheap stock made furniture bought at some run of the mill furniture store back in the 70's and 80's.
@@kyle8952 I'm sure it's also corroded through. Been sitting in damp salty sea air for a decade. Nothing in that house is valuable. Interesting yes, valuable no.
Me too! It seems a lot of our Gentlemen Urban Explorers just have to look in old fridges and freezers. Not one of them smells lemon fresh, wait! maybe the next one will.😉
Have you considered finding the owners in local court records? That may give you a starting point in finding out what happened. I suppose that's not your mission, however. I would love to take up that part of the story and share.
That’s what drives me crazy w/these videos! Pretty basic stuff that may lead to an even better story & it would set RU-vidr apart from all the others, amongst whom none rarely make the effort
That would be cool but I don't know if information like that can be given to just anyone that ask for it. I could be wrong but that's personal info it just seems weird for them to give it away.
My thought too. And also why would things be pretty neat? Surely others had poked around. Things would have been more messy. People do not have manners.
They did not leave, they FLED! They left so much memorabilia behind: pictures, books, quilts etc. They were frightened, scared. They didn’t even take their clothing! They did not leave. They FLED!
@@tko12C well that's funny because one of the viewers found info on it, and he wasn't even there. He saw a name in the book and googled it. What he found all makes sense. So I find it very hard to believe this guy who was at the address couldn't find any info.
How is it that non of the furniture, or books have dust on them if it’s an “”untouched” home for so long.? My house gets dustier than that in a couple weeks.
simple. dust is a product of dead skin and other small debris stirred up by human movement. no humans = no dead skin particles and no movement to stir it up.
Teresa Mullet my grandparents got an old wood cabin there property and it’s not very dusty. Hasn’t been touched in ten years. Thing is still dirtier than this fake ass place
Anyone else freaked out when they saw his girlfriend in the mirror?! 😭 for some reason I thought he was filming alone! Lol anyway great video you can tell that was once a beautiful beach home
Right, I turned the video off as soon as I seen that....as viewers, we're obviously intrigued by things genuinely "untouched" frozen in time. Not things claimed to be untouched then hindered by the discoverers, and staged. Kinda wack if you asked me
Bradley Broyles what happens now. Can anyone claim it. Pay the taxes obviously. We have an abandoned house where I live. Heard it’s haunted. How would I find out anything. I tried googling but nothing.
David Ho thats not true there greedy asses take .these people passed away you can go to public records in that town tells you everything. Drs owned it. As it not being messed up maybe the cops watch it so no party spot for kids. Its sad such a beautiful home
I tried looking up the address in the book you showed at around the 5:20 mark 341 Highwood (or Ridgewood / Norwood) Ave (interpolated via G.Maps) Glen Rock, NJ What is interesting though is that there is no house at any of those addresses. There is a house at 343 Highwood Ave. Google Earth imagery for the area does not go back past 1995. The same 343 house is there. No fire records could be found from DDG/Google. None the less, I discovered obituaries for a Celestino Clemente, M.D. who passed in 2013 at 91 with family. There was no record that I could find of an "E. Clemente" However there are two practicing Doctors in New Jersey with the last name Clemente. Roderick and Joseph Clemente. They both have over 20 years in medicine and are specialized in Neurosurgery and Cardiology, respectively. So far that's all i can find. Interesting dead ends. But someone has been squatting in that house, if not you. That beer was put there like yesterday.
Since some of the other books on the shelf were library discards, the stamp in the book may not have anything to do with the former occupants of the home. It could have been from a library book sale, or from the dump even. But I agree that someone is likely squatting there.
Yes it's nice to view because he's steady with his camera and not like some who whizz the camera so fast you end up sea sick. Nice place. Sad it's going to waste. New sub. Looking forward to viewing more.
Some of the shelves were empty. The owners probably placed books and other items on them gradually over time but never quite filled any of them up. Don't forget, "minimalism" is a thing; rich people having lots of space and only minimal use of it, ya know.
Troy Pattillo : yes Troy your correct - a lot of this is STAGED - no spider webs or dust . Dining tables seems to be always set . Bed’s made and books opened and left on bed . These explorers try to make these places interesting - having viewers mean money . They usually say they do not take items - leave it as they find it - is their motto . I do not agree with that - I think most do load up on stuff - they can’t reveal that for they would be arrested .
At the 5:24 mark...you can see a name and address inside of the book that is lying on the bed. I looked up the name and address and it is for a doctor who passed away in 2013. If the owner of the book is the person who owned this house then it is odd that it sits abandoned as he had a large family. He was 91 when he passed and left 5 adult children, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren...many who still live in the same state as he did.... It is so sad to see the remnants of someone's life...simply left to rot...with no-one caring enough to close the house properly or to even relish the belongings of a life well lived... Unlike most Third-world countries where the elderly have great value...in our first-world American society the elderly are looked at as a nuisance by so many people...as if they have no knowledge or value in the lives of their family or community...which is simply untrue...So sad...
A life well lived...Um. Sure! Or maybe just a long life. Maybe the guy was an insufferable asshole? Not every relative is a treasure. Perhaps the home and everything in it reminded them of bad memories so they left it to the mold. Did you ever have a co-worker you couldn't stand and think "wow, I'm glad I only have to tolerate this jerk at work"..Well, that person has a family and they probably don't like he/she either. Just something to think on.
I find it frustrating that you don't bother to research your sites before uploading. I watch similar channels like this one, such as "Uncharted Travel" and he includes this information on his videos. It adds an extra dimension of interest that your channel is lacking. Constructive criticism 👍
With the lack of family pics anywhere in that place, or any sign of a "personalized family lived home" with so much clothes and such left behind... It is most likely exactly what happened.
It is on the beach but it is definitely not a vacation home that someone decided that they didn’t want to attend to anymore for what ever reason, this was a permanent home from the looks of that many clothes and the scrubs that were found. Why would you take work clothes on vacation?
That house was someone's inheritance that became an B&B. The phones in each room that look like hotel phones plus the one in the kitchen with the sticky note #2600 was likely to dial the caretaker. The library with the books, old tv, and board game would have been a common area. You can see the mark on the table that is a square shape that tells you something was there. Most likely the board game box before it was staged for dramatic effect. The book left on the end of the bed had 2 stamped pages with the name of an MD that included an address. The furniture and decor in most of the bedrooms is from the 60's to the 80's probably the time when someone lived in the home. The cheaper furniture like in the kitchen is most likely from when it was passed on to whomever inherited the home. Since it is a costal property, the most likely scenario is there was a sole owner who turned the home into a B&B after they inherited the property. Then ten or twenty years later it was aboanded after a storm that caused water damage. If was insuranced they probably didn't return because of the mold and they had money from the settlement. When a hurricane hits even near a home that maybe doesn't cause structural damage but, does cause water damage by the time everything is settled a lot of the properties are left like that all over the coast. If they had to evacuate it would've looked pretty much exactly like that. You load the car and go and most people grab family photos, clothes, and whatever else they can carry with them.
I'm no detective, but there seems to be one glaring thing that was completely overlooked. You opened the closest and saw scrubs, which you automatically assumed were nurses attire, but doctors also wear them. Secondly, when you open the book on the bed there was a name and address followed by M.D., which is an abbreviation for Medical Doctor. My guess is that the name stamped in the inner cover of the book will lead you to the answer of who once resided there.
It's also easy enough nowadays (for the guys filming this anyway, since they don't want to give out it's location) to get the address and do a Zillow search for who owned it.
Good Observation! I was able to read the name “C. Clemente MD” and a quick google search comes up a Celestino Clemente MD from New Jersey who passed in 2013.
@@Xsar08X I didnt catch the name in the book but the Yuenling bottle was kinda a giveaway the house is eastern bound, 20 years ago that bear wasnt served past the tristate area, its more distributed these days but seeing the empty bottle and a rough timeframe of decay I was thinking tristate DE, NJ, MD beach house Plus there are no pictures of real people anywhere - maybe a rental or pictures collected post death
This is what's so upsetting to me. He could've done some research and added It during his adventure Without giving away details of part owners or its location. Instead he left it to us to investigate. If he didn't want people to know where this was so it wouldn't get looted he'd been more careful of his vide
You need to stop watching tv and get outside animals do not go out of their way to kill people as humans do and the state of the house means only bugs, rats and mice would be in there which cannot hurt you.
That board game looked pretty clean 🤔 and most of the stuff didn't even have dust on it for the level of mess and deterioration. If I don't clean my TV station for a week I get a layer of dust.
There's no dust because it's a beach mansion. Meaning moisture. Moisture causes mold and decay. Now if this house were in say Arizona or some other dry region then you would find layers of dust and cobwebs probably.
Jessica Gray, that's not true. I live near the sea side & still get dust build up if I don't clean. Dust is everywhere. There were plenty of dusty surfaces in that house. But the board game, the FDR & Titanic book ect: where too clean. I'm not saying these guys set it up, but something is fishy here.
@@966Mako I definitely agree with you I'm wasnt saying there wouldn't be dust as u said its everywhere and I grew up in fort Lauderdale Florida right by the ocean and of course there was dust I was just saying that when you're by the ocean it's less dust as compared to here in Arizona where I literally have to dust almost every single day I went to whole week one time without dusting just to see how bad it got and it literally looked like you hadn't dust in months that's how much worse dust build-up in dryer States compared to moist States
Miti Cuellar he adds things to the homes right before he films. He admitted that he lit candles on the table for a photoshoot. Im sure he did the board game and the book on the bed.
@@charlee2149 right and while they obviously never got around to upgrading the house it's self typically people upgrade other items from time to time. My parents bought their house in 1989 but by the time I moved out in 2007 the only item I had from the 1980s was my Optimus Prime action figure I kept for sentimental value, but most of our appliances and decor had long be updated. So what I'm saying is obviously these people moved in there around the 80s but either were out by the early 90s or they were heavily introverted and had no interest in the modern world.
i feel like a i need a mask and gloves just to watch this. *cough , wheeze....really a very interesting mystery. you could have a nice little series if you do some investigation on this home and report back.
Yea something doesn't add up. Some of the stuff is just way too clean to have been sitting there for ages ESPECIALLY when there are holes in the roofs letting dirt, sand etc in. The white baking dish on the dining room table as well as some of the other dishes are sparkling clean. Look at the condition of the wooden entertainment stand and EVERYTHING around it and then the Titanic book is prestine...the pages are white as all get out. No dust on the tv...I think this is half staged.
If you watch other exploration channels you'll see that they did this house a while ago. Some of those folks stage scenes to make it dramatic. I know one channel for sure likes to set up dinner tables like the homeowners ran out in the middle of a meal or a game of Trivial Pursuit.
Seems Like you tubers have no Problem going into any home, its still a B & E or Entering without Permission, Just Saying, i wouldn't want to go to jail for just making a video... yeah, i think part is staged, no dust on many things, Good eye, alwayswanted Ababy
What I don’t get is why the house wasn’t handled in a disposal manner. As a hazmat worker if a property is as bad as this we put the property under demolition and remediate the site.
