Ah, its both harder and easier to find near mint condition volvos now. 10+ years ago it was easy to find endless rusted out ones for almost free, and a few old man owned in decent condition but no one restored or cared for them. Now theres more and more restored ones and more hidden barnfinds coming out thanks to higher value so its way easier to find a mint one today but you have to pay 50 - 120 000

@@neuroleptika All agreed, its both easier and harder. With "this nice" I meant like a barn find of the sort Michael did find. 145 (station wagon), 2 owners, sitting for the last 10 years, everything original on the car, not completely banged up etc. Like a dream for a restorer! Already restored or customized ones are still quite easy to find if you got the cash.
@neuroleptika
@neuroleptika 2 года назад
@@OrangeZingoSWE yep thats true. But if you just want a decent or mint 240, even the most expensive will often cost you less than to restore yourself so I think rn prices are in a sweet spot, you get basically a brand new 240 for half or less of a new low end car

This low mileage rust free Volvo station wagon is a real gem. It looks incredibly good. Extremely rare to find in a condition like this. 2) I really hope that I missed something or have you seriously changed only the brake caliper and pads on one side? If so it's definitely a big, big no go!!! It's extremely important to absolutely always do brake renewals on both sides of the axle. If not, you will have uneven breaking and that's definitely a big safety issue. Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.

Yes you're right, but I think he did. At 4:35 he says "we can start on this side" and in the past, Michael often showed it with one example and in a later shot/video, you could see that it's done completely to make the videos more varied :) Greetings from Germany

My old man had a 92 240 5 speed in fjord blue, ipd exhaust, mild cam, installed 2 janky turbo setups then got a nice one, suspension upgrades all around, and a clutch upgrade. But the thing looked completely stock. It made 275hp at the wheels in final form and he sold it for 3k 4 years ago with 400k on it to a good home. The skinny little tires were so kick ass for burnouts in the high school parking lot.

Oh my goodness I bought this same exact 1969 Volvo Wagon from the original owners in 1985. Same color. Manual transmission. Super comfortable. I probably have a picture of it somewhere. I loved it. Drove my new baby around in it. It broke down and I let it sit for a year and then gave it to a friend. I don't know what even happened to it, but I could track down the old friend and ask

These are beautiful, well-designed cars and this example is in such clean original condition. Probably my favourite vehicle on this channel - I'd love to see more of her but in true Volvo fashion she will probably give you very little cause to tinker, so just enjoy driving what is still an incredibly usable everyday classic. Here in the UK the 140 series was prone to rotting out, and so if you want one now you need deep pockets or else to be very handy with the welder. Even the later 240s (which I have in 1982, DL sedan form) were no match for our horrendous weather. The dual circuit brakes can be a pain to set up but they were a revolutionary safety feature when Volvo introduced them in the 60s and designed to make a total brake failure almost impossible. Good call on the roof rack, I think they add a nice retro surf wagon look to these cars. My partner and I have six kids so if i had one of these, I'd probably source and fit the optional third row rear-facing seats that stow away into the trunk floor and make a really practical family bus :)

Very nice old Volvo ! my Dad had a true love for Volvo Wagons and when i was a teenager inSouthFlorida we would buy any one we could find usually we Stripped them for parts for resale and sold off the body shells for Scrap he mainly liked them for the quality and Reliability and both my parents drove one for a Daily Driver it got to be so many of them that if one was a driver we just called it the Color of that one did you know on those brake systems they had a safety device on the Steellines they called the PorportionalValve that you need to reset for Bleeding the System? it was part of the Engineering for Safetey that if a big leak occurred either on the front or rear Brakes that Valve would still allow Fluid fromthe Master Cylinder to be pumped to the other half of the system so you still had Some Brakes it was super duper easy to do as you simply unscrewed this Valve that looked like a sending unit and put it back in its place without any fluid pressure then Bled the system if you didn’t perform that task. a Caliper was likely to lock up on you in the 70s many Hot Rodders and Muscle car guys would Scarf up Volvo 4 wheel disc Brake systems to modify and bolt onto their cars to get them to stop better this was Way before Willwood many builders preferred using Old Jaguar independentSuspensionFront Ends instead of the heavy American Systems for improved handling and i know the Volvo Calipers fit easily on those when the Volvos in the late 70s switched to FuelNjection they utilized the Bosch system and that was on lots of other cars like Jaguars Volkswagen ,Porsche ,Audi all those Components and parts were really expensive a it was a Electronic FuelInjection System that by a Computer under the front seat it was called the Brain and was basically like todays ECM nobody but the dealerships knew how to reprogram those things and the Volvo ones would Plug into any vehicle with that Bosch system that had a failed. one on it our local Junkyard used to give us a thousand dollars for any of those that came out of a running car he sold them off at two thousand dollars as fast as we got them for him ! in the late 70s all the watercooled VWs used those and they were notorious for not being reliable many Professionally trained Mechanics at Small shops would tell the customers they needed a replacement but in reality. those guys didn’t have th decoders and knowledge like they do today so those things were in high demand all over. our local Junk Yard at that time was one of the first yards to join the network of Dealers that joined the force of tracking parts with everyone else in that business essentially the start of Computerized inventory i’m almost 60 years old and i laugh now that i was able to see that whole thing first hand cars that tuned and adjusted themselves a high tech self diagnostic system that could tell you what was broken and so on don’t get me wrong i didn’t know how that worked personally but i knew that those things were expensive and made us money !
