My grandmother still lives in a house in Seaforth which has been in the family for over a century, she tells that when this cannon fired, the home windows as far as boulders beach would shudder.. not only that but for accuracy in its shot of the trajectory was set correct this beast could accurately hit a target over the mountain in Table Bay.. assuming heavy mathematics were involved though
We did the same type of exploring at a similar gun above Llandudno ... my now wife, then girlfriend almost stepped on a massive Cape Cobra while running down the steps going under the gun. To this day, the biggest Cape Cobra I have ever seen. So glad I didn't lose her that day ... Awesome day that we will never forget
There are/were ten of them in the Cape Town area: 4 near Simonstown, 3 above Llandudno & 3 on Robben Island. My dad was a navy gunner in the 50s - I think he worked in them when they were active. The 3 above Llandudno are def still there at Apostle Battery . (don't know the others). Their underground areas are easier to access and have the exact same layout. Flippen interesting to go there. There is also a REALLY deep shaft with a ladder that goes into a group of chambers there - the ladder is the only way in and out.

☑️😉 This is the gun I use for deer and elk, but its a bit small for black bear and moose. For them, you need a gun off the Yamato... Sometimes it overpenetrates, and destroys the meat. 🤪👍
Hahaha you people got big cahooneez, I was born in Simons town, 5th generation infact and I have never dared to go down those chambers, the one time when I was about to, not far from the entrance I saw a black cat, body twisted, hind legs facing one way, torso twisted and front legs facing the other way and again the head was facing the direction of the hind legs.. many many tales of witchcraft and some other worldly shizzniz happened there.. thanks for the vidoe
