I hear you! I love that this song has slow part to sway to that you feel sad for her then the fast part that makes you stomp around in time to the beat gives you hope lifts my spirits and makes me happy and the outro with the piano is a fab ending to a song. Abba are class!!!
Yeah that's a good way to put it.. I actually don't like or dislike their music but it's just not my thing. But my mom loved them and they are indeed much like her. They sound like they wouldn't hurt a fly and that's indeed calming. I understand!
Everybody who is anybody in the music industry loves Abba. They made utterly perfect pop, they were different from their contemporaries at the time and there has never been another band like them. They are unique. And their music sounds deceptively simple - they're not simple at all and some of them are stupidly hard to sing. Or at least, sing well! I loved this reaction J, a big smile on your face the whole time. Pretty sure that's why they made their music - to make people smile! Peace, Jen
The issue with singing ABBA songs is that you really need two women with well-matched voices singing the harmonies. I love to sing their songs at karaoke, but find myself gravitating to songs like "The Winner Takes It All" because it doesn't feature Frida very much. I'm always in need of a Frida.
A critic said if you wanted to hear the easiest way to make money listen to ABBA. It was a slam. No one worked harder than ABBA on their songs. The girls sang all the multi tracks. ABBA wasn't simple pop by any means. They never got their due until long after they were gone. And even now some say ABBA was nothing more than simple pop. Far from it. You don't sell 400 million records being simple. Second all time to only The Beatles if you weren't any good at what you do.
@@larrylindgren9484 Yeah, that's like that thing of someone being told how lucky they are, and replying "Yes, and you know the funny thing? The harder I work, the luckier I get."
That;s not true... who told you that anybody in the music industry loves ABBA? There's documentaries showing their struggle and how they didn't like them...
ABBA we’re absolutely awesome. I’m a heavy metal fan and spent my whole life hiding from my buddies how much I love ABBA lol………they would disown me lol
50% of the profits for this song went to UNICEF and later they gave 100%, those profits were serious, I believe the Spanish language version of this song was number 1 in Mexico for half a year.
Abba was a global phenomenon during the Disco era. Talent, sure; charisma, absolutely, but the magic they created is unexplainable. They captured lightening in a bottle and ran with it.
@@tuijakarttunen9164 the main writers were Benny & Bjorn, Stig Anderson only contributed to the lyrics of some of their bigger hits at the beginning but the duo were still the main writers…
The Spanish version of this song was the first song I ever hear of ABBA and it was always playing somewhere as I was growing up in Mexico therefore it’s so nostalgic for me to hear this one ❤️
Wow! Same here. My mom is from Mexico City and we went every year for 3 months. I had uncles and aunts who where much younger in the discotheque days. They always played such great music. I knew the Spanish version before the English one. The harmonizing with these ladies and the arrangement if their music is difficult to achieve as purely as they do. They are my go to group to get emotionally up beat and remember my childhood. ❤❤❤
The harmony in their voices is incredible. I don't think I have ever heard voices that sound so amazing together. I have read somewhere that this was one of the reasons why ABBA was so popular
In my opinion the best harmony duo of all time. But dont miss out on another amazing duo, also from Sweden. First Aid Kit. They are sisters. Totaly different style but their harmony and connection is perfection.
I recommend that you listen to a Brazilian band called Roupa Nova. They sing in harmony. The genre is different, but they're amazing. In Brazilian music, the harmony duo is very common... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m9jp5K-IT2Q.html
You should definitely check out their songs “so long (made in Sweden for export) 1975”, ”does your mother know” (which Björn, the guitarist is the main vocalist on), “thank you for the music” and “the name of the game” All their songs are so so so so good so it’s hard to choose a favorite but I think these are some of my faves atm and chiquitita is definitely a fave too, their harmonies and the ending is AMAZING
ABBA are without a doubt the quintessential Perfect pop band. It was something that I always remembered on the radio in the background growing up. As I Grew Older I learned to appreciate songs like The Winner Takes It All. For me at least it is the perfect song about divorce. I cannot express to you how much I love them. Agita & Ana's voices tho...🥺🥺😊😊🥰🥰
Been hoping you'd react to this song and this video in particular (with the snowman!). Frida and Agnetha look so lovely here. This song is pristine and perfect. Next by ABBA, perhaps S.O.S. and The Name of the Game? Maybe Waterloo, which was the first song of theirs to put them on the map. Thanks Jay!
ABBA were incredible and Chiquitita was a genuine sprinkling of gold dust that goes straight to your heart, soul and mind. Whenever I hear it, I really connect with it because it's a soothing song that everyone can connect to especially during a difficult time and listening to it could make them feel better. It's a very caring and beautiful song.
This song reminds me of my grandma she would always play Abba songs on the weekends when it was cleaning house day lmaoo she basically got me into Abba and til this day she still a fan of them ❤️ Plz react to Voulez Vous that one is so catchy and danceable 🔥
These guys were huge in Australia 🇦🇺 and New Zealand 🇳🇿, they defined a generation of kids growing up down under. It reminds me of summer, beaches and BBQ’s, Christmas. Happy times in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Iconic
@@ALong-fo5so well that's your opinion okay! As for other countries in this world, we can say the same so there! I've noticed Australian people love big heading themselves! I'm mean seriously can yall heads fit through doors, being yous are so up yourselves lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 I mean, give us a break man! Lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂 lol.😂
I love how good music speaks to people all over the world, no matter their background. It's the universal language. Every once in a while all the stars align, and we get bands like Abba, that come together and produce gems for the whole world to enjoy. The smile on J's face is a telltale sign.
How come no one notices the amazing piano skills by Benny. What a talent. He composed all the Abba songs more or less. Up there with the very, very best of all time
ABBA have no rivals and never will have as they are completely unique. Its a fact that their chord sequences and melodies are more difficult to play than most of the music ever made. They are undoubtedly the best female duo who have ever lived.
Real talent makes a huge difference. Not just the singing, which is phenomenal, but the writing of both the lyrics and music. One of the greatest all around groups ever. We definitely need more of this now more than ever.
"Chiquitita" proved to be one of ABBA's biggest hits. It was featured in a 1979 UNICEF charity event, the Music for UNICEF Concert, broadcast worldwide from the United Nations General Assembly. As a direct result of this event, ABBA donated half of all royalties from the song to UNICEF
Man, this song. Makes me cry every time. Brings back some intense memories. This band was incredible when it comes to harmonies. I still have one of their albums in vinyl. ❤️
The Spanish version of Chiquitita stroke a chord in all of Latin American countries when it came out. It talks to a chiquitita, a humble (and implied, poor) little girl in a Third World country, which most of Latin America was and still is, and gives this little girl a message of hope. Give the Spanish version a try, now that you know the English lyrics and what is really about.
@@raesour2806they did the Spanish version first and late English but in Spanish chiquitita it's way more emotional if you know what the lirics really is about.
I'm new to this channel. I dont know Jayvon. I dont know how old the guy is. I'm guessing in his 20s. Its really nice to see someone of that sort of age group actually embracing music from before his time. Good stuff. Keep it up mate.
ABBA we’re a real force of music in the 70’s, agnetha was like an angel with a voice to match. She’s still so beautiful even today. This came out in 1979, always loved ABBA from the first time I saw them in 1974.
This is a really well written song . Perfect vocal harmonies . Even the chorus deviates from 4/4 timing and adds an extra note to briefly enter an odd time signature (5/4) .
This is probably my husband's favorite ABBA song. I'm definitely sharing your reaction with him! You are spot on. They were so GOOD. Their writing and arrangements, the performances...polished and beautiful.
Such a warm redemptive song of hope. Benny and Bjorn, were musical geniuses, and Frida and Agnetha were singing and style geniuses i perfect combination. Stig Anderson and Michael Tretow were stunning contributors, and other musicians they called upon played their instruments with such grace and style such as Rutger.
Another comment I think that You react these eight ABBA songs: Mamma Mía Fernando Dancing Queen Knowing me knowing you Take a chance on me Chiquitita Gimme gimme gimme The winner takes it all My suggestion to next reaction is: Waterloo (1974) S.O.S. (1975) Thank you for the music (1977)
Abba were brilliant and their songs are rarely covered because they are so complicated to play and sing. Please react to SOS, Eagle and Summer Night City - more of their brilliant songs.
When they sing "The sun is still in the sky and shining above you" it really gets me in the heart. What utterly beautiful lyrics throughout. And Jay, I have only watched a few of your reactions but already I can see that you're a sweet soul. Don't ever change.
Despite their radio-friendly pop confections, this group was not made up of empty calories. They had substance and heart and even gave the rights to this song to UNICEF to help the children of the world. You nailed this one JV. So glad you appreciate them ❤
Money Money Money was a huge hit back in the days. Not a typical ABBA track, but a track where you could tell that they had fun and played with music. A bit classical, a bit musical. And a great video.
That ending piano part, probably has done more then any therapy could ever do. I ain’t even kidding. It just sounds like what living life could be. I always picture the best things when I hear that part. I may be overly emotional with it but that’s just how it makes me feel. Abba in general just kicks the depression out of me sometimes lol
Hello, have you done a reaction video to any songs by Adam & the Ants? Try ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’, ‘Stand and Deliver’, ‘Prince Charming’, ‘Ant Music’. There is more.
They still continue to do so, since more than 10 years them give 100% instead of 50% of the earnings, more than 5 billion $ yet - isn't it great? So let's keep on soreading this song.
Thank you sweetheart for playing my favourite ABBA song, there are no bad songs bt this amazing group but this is so uplifting and compassionate. Your words and the message you get from them and their music is so positive and well thought out. They are so professional and so in harmony, I don't know personally anyone who doesn't like them. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
