Hello BB ! First of all , I Love BAB, it's full of exuberant cheer , life and happy good times. I can visually see that ABBA enjoyed performing it. And why not! It's refreshing and constantly moving in joy. The scenery was nice enough for a perfect video. Stockholm is so beautiful already. So BB, thanks for the awesome info about the inside scoop of BAB. Bang a Boomerang is such a joyous song for me. I don't know why the boys dislike their work, I think they did a really good job! Abba looked very cute for their "ABBA" album. It is one of my favourite Abba albums.

Being Australian with a fair share of Swedish ancestry I can’t help but loving them ppl never really understood, which was painful. My own psyche used to ‘get’ me in respect to this song. The Boomerang as we know is an indigenous weapon used by the Australian Aboriginal. I ran around thinking, ‘how on earth did they think of that’? Benny and Bjorn might be a bit harsh on themselves regarding the lyrics. In my mind it’s a stroke of genius and a sophisticated song. Playing it on guitar proves quite a challenge. An Australian television producer spotted their handy work after the ‘Waterloo’ and ‘Ring Ring’ clips were shown here and he then produced a documentary TV show on them for the Australian viewers in prime time; and as far as we’re concerned the rest is history. Clearly beyond a doubt abba had their sights on Australia as a stepping stone. Thanks for this video !

Since you noted that it wasn't a hit single meaning it wasn't an official intrenational relase....Let's not forget that it was part in every famous ABBA GH/Best of ABBA collection released at the time '75/'76 packed with many other less known'' tracks from their first 3 albums.So all these were given the chance to become massively known to the '70s Abba fans and audiences since these vynils got sold in phenomenal quantities of million copies worldwide.

I love putting original song titles in place of the final one. Who's Gonna Love You in the place of Hasta Mañana, and Stop and Listen to your Heart in place of Bang a Boomerang, as they fit syllable-wise, and then imagining how different the song and arrangement would have been if they had gone with the original/working titles. Yes, I am sadly obsessed with the group 😮😂

What a fascinating video, thanks BB.. Great to see the history of this song & its video. Like the ‘That’s Me’ video, I loved the feel good fun of this song. Living in Australia I wondered about Svenne & Lotta’s connection with Benny & Bjorn, hearing their version of Bang A Boomerang & there versions of Dance (Where the music still goes on) & even Funky Feet which sounded so similar to ABBA’s production. BB, was Funky Feet actually recorded by Abba for the Arrival sessions? If so has anyone heard a mix? I know Benny & Bjorn thought it sounded like Dancing Queen.. Great location video again BB, thanks again for letting us know about all things Abba, I hope Abba are seeing your hard work..

Hello again, my dear young friend. and congratulations on another wonderful video of ABBA locations "Bang a Boomerang" is all joy, both the song and the official video The ABBA album is fantastic (the only song I almost don't like is "Man in the middle") and "Bang a Boomerang" is a beautiful song, Agnetha and Frida shine with pure power and harmony in their magical third voice, musically very catchy and enthusiastic And the official video for "Bang a Boomerang" is among the three most joyful ABBA videos, along with "Take a chance on me" and "Head over heels." (and I would add the unofficial "When I kissed the teacher") And it is important to note that many of his images were used appropriately for the official video for "I still have faith in you." If we place ourselves in the context of history, ABBA came from the failure of "So long" to enter the main positions on the charts. (perhaps it did not have an official video at the time, although ABBA made many television appearances with it, relying on the success of "Waterloo") and also the failure of the 1974 tour. The good thing is that ABBA always knew how to draw lessons from non-events. and so they advanced with the official videos for the four songs in just 2 days and that's how it got Australia's attention. and Mamma Mia became a single and took it by storm, and S.O.S. broke the curse in the UK and the rest is the glorious known history and since I said "S.O.S." I have a special hope that you will be able to discover something about the locations and techniques used in its official video. one of my favorites (although most ABBA fans don't see it that way) I hope this is among your projects and you do it I wish you a great weekend My special greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

Your videos are a wealth of information and your passion always shines through. I have been deeply moved more than once. Finally I have a wish, a video about Ted Gärdestad who was discovered by Benny Andersson when he was 14 years old and released his first album in 1972 on Polar Music when he was just 16 years old. For me "Bang-A-Boomerang" will always be a Svenne & Lotta song, since I heard their version first, in Melodifestivalen 1975. I would say that their Swedish version is better known than ABBA's English version in Sweden. Svenne Hedlund said years later that he was a bit angry that ABBA decided to record it themselves and sort of stole Svenne & Lotta's hit.
@christianoazzuro6711
@christianoazzuro6711 9 месяцев назад
A bit angry?Oh why?I could have been really proud since Abba gave it an internanional 'out of boarders' chance.After all Both Benny/Bjorn were the songwritters and were basic producers to various acts working for Stig's Polar records i think even before Abba.Btw Svenne/Lotta's version was far better that the one attempted by a duo for UK Release of 'Honey Honey" from The Sweet Dreams that was a UK top 10 hit.!That version of HH was really weak and rather 'poor' recording and aged awfully through time while Abba's still sound fresh even today imo.
@LapsangTe
@LapsangTe 9 месяцев назад
@@christianoazzuro6711 Svenne and Lotta recorded an English version and released it abroad, but by then the ABBA version had already been released so no one was interested in their version since they believed it was just an ABBA cover. Svenne felt that "Bang-A-Boomerang" was their big chance to make it outside of Scandinavia and that ABBA took that chance away from them.

@@LapsangTe oh yes i see.ABBA' had already break it big in '75 and the S.L 's single got kinda limited in the continental Scandi chart success.Personally Abba's version is unbeatable, to my ears.The only song Abba didn't manage to overtake is Billy G Son's 'I saw it in the mirror"lol.,Abba's version sounded pale if not dull compared to Billy G Son's country blues colours.They didn't fit in this.Of course just my opinion again.

Hello Bobby's Brother. You say here that Bang A Boomerang was never performed on TV. That's not true. I remember very clearly it was performed on Italian TV RAI. In those years ABBA made some passages in Italy and each time they performed a pair of songs at a Sunday afternoon broadcast, always with the same presenter. I perfectly remember some of the songs and the short presentations. I was already an ABBA fan then and Bang a Boomerang was among them. I have written to you about this but had no reply. If you like, we can work together to ask the RAI archives to release those videos. There's a hidden treasure of ABBA videos in those archives. Reply to this message please and we'll try to recover it.

@@christianoazzuro6711 I have very clear in my mind 5 songs performed in RAI at that Sunday afternoon broadcast, each of them with a brief introduction by the presenter.
