Have a listen to Sissel Kyrkjebø at the Mormon choir concert and you might change your view but I expect you will at least enjoy the rendition. If you do have a listen also to "Slow Down" and note her reaction at the end to the applause. I only came across Sissel recently and don't know how I never heard of her before, Angelic and such a smile. I'm really smitten. Great songs on RU-vid from when she was a young girl and I wish I could see her in concert, not much hope living in Ireland as she doesn't seem to tour all that much except in Nordic countries but she has fabulous command of the English language. In fact she has sung in Irish as well !

Heard Sissel's version, quite different but enjoyable nonetheless, however, those silky, warm tones of Frida win for me. They create a dark, Winter night atmosphere in front of the fire wistfully thinking of a love lost and the emptiness that leaves. Her delivery paints a vivid picture more than Sissel's for me.

Their entire catalog can be collected on "Thank You for the Music". It has every song including studio outtakes and bloopers and never published songs. A perfect gift for any ABBA fan.

cantorchileno I love the demo versions too! The dance mix of this would have taken an entirely different direction. They should have made it their final swan song, but The Day Before You Came was also brilliant.

I think Frida's stage presence didn't have to hide behind Agnetha's. I only have to take a look at the live version of Why Did It Have To Be Me or at If It Wasn't For The Nights or So Long. She often danced and moved much more spectacular than Agnetha.

You don't know ABBA at all. Frida loved the stage and was dominant physically and vocally on all their live concerts. Frida was ABBA's only professional vocalist and the groups natural front and center performer entertainer pro. Stage since 1956. Pro since 1958. She was an actual working artist who made her reputation on the stage, theatre, TV and radio -- ALL Live. A huge get by Stikkan 'Stig' Anderson/Polar Music. Took a while to secure Frida and a lucrative deal. Frida is the real deal. No shielding. No smoke or mirrors. Agnetha is fine when she has reference and cover. But put her on stage, solo, front and center, performing a vocal centric centric song. No wall-of-sound. No Frida. No band. Just minimal instrumentation, leaving Agnetha to carry the song, in the spotlight, 3 meters from the audience on LIVE national TV. Nope. That's Frida. Frida was a working artist with a stellar reputation among her peers. The real deal! The ABB girl that always had a stellar reputation among music pro's since grade school to present day. They know Frida is the real deal.

I was commenting about ABBA, a band formed in the 70's. You mistook my comment to be a criticism of Frida in some inexplicable way, which it wasn't. My observation was that Agnetha more often took the limelight and that opinion still stands. Frida even hinted to the effect herself. Additionally, your criticism of Agnetha is simply your opinion and I disagree with it. I prefer her dance style and she is perfectly capable of performing solo and spectacular so.
