Hello again, my dear friend I'm so glad to see You return with reaction to more ABBA songs now with the self-titled album 'ABBA' "Mamma Mía" (1975) for me is the best pure pop If someone ask me for what is a pop song, i give this video and song "Mamma Mía" have all elements: catchy melodies, more hooks, beauty voices and harmonies, and a distintive sound with a marimba; it's funny, it's adictive, It's a great song It could be in my Top 10 of all ABBA songs "Mamma Mía" have a story ABBA was recording their third album, the self-titled "ABBA", and Mamma Mia was the last song recorded ABBA filmed four videos in only two days to promote their songs; "Mamma Mía was one of these; Also ABBA lunch a new single, but "Mamma Mía" wasn't choose These is an iconic official video for which in Australia they asked that "Mamma Mía" be released as a single finally ABBA did it, and it was #1 in Australia for 10 weeks and ABBAmania woke up there When the single was released in England it had a slow but steady rise to #1 and from there toppling none other than 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen in January 1976 (it's crazy that in the begining of the video you are singing the Queen's song) "Mamma Mia" together with their predecessor "S.O.S." are the two songs that gave ABBA its musical identity as a pop group With both songs ABBA find your musical identity as a pop group, and began ABBA's great series of more than 20 worldwide hits for seven consecutive years consecutives I hope to see you in next reaction to 'ABBA' album, one of my favourites, with the basis of the best ABBA pop music the next song is "Hey hey Helen" it have a video with a TV perfomance at US My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America P.S.: "Mamma Mia" also is a tittle of a musical and of two movies, all inspired in all ABBA songs and directed by ABBA songwriters"
I grew up with all the fabulous music from the 60's-80's. ABBA was one of my favorites. They had lots of hits & I owned many of their albums. I can't think of a bad song by them. Some of their best are "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme", "Thank You For The Music", "Does Your Mother Know?", "Waterloo", "Money, Money, Money", "The Name Of The Game", "Super Trouper", "I Have A Dream", "Voulez-Vous", "Fernando", "Take A Chance On Me", "Chiquitita", "SOS", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "Dancing Queen" etc. Nice to see that they are back together again recording after all these years.
What a song! How many other artists from today will still be listened to and loved in 50+ years? Not many that’s for sure! Looking forward to your reactions to the songs you haven’t heard yet. Was great to see this video, thank you 😊
This clip was sent to Australia before they even released Mamma Mia as a single song. It was put onto TV by the receipt with communications back to ABBA to get them to release it as a single record which they finally did and went to number one.
@@eleonoragiacomazzi5775 In an interview to an Aussie channel(just some years ago),female interviewer taped a video of Benny saying 'Thank you Molly Medrum' as a grateful response for his support. When Molly was shown this he got really emotional nearly wet eyed in front of the camera who captured the moment.
David,Waterloo introduced ABBA to the world through Eurovision ,and with the smouldering embers of that small fire Australia threw petrol on the embers and created the massive inferno that would burn throughout the world and never die .It all started with MAMMA MIA,a video, this video in a package with three others that the music program COUNTDOWN used as a filler to use up excess time towards the end of that weeks show ,and the Telephone lines to the ABC TV station went BALLISTIC and was replayed again the week after and finally released as a single ,a massive single with apprehension from their record company,to unleash the heat and passion that still burns unabated 48 years on.
Abba's early power pop in glam rock '70s outfits. The marimbas used-as far as i know- was last minute decision and addition right after Benny saw them in the studio and used it for the fun.Sounded great and gave it a go.'
Hey ABBA is back ❤😂 Thankyou David Love this catchy and infectious song 🎶 There iconic close ups of the girls 👄 ABBA where pioneers in these videos you know 🎉
I remember the first time l heard and saw this video..had the T.V playing in the background and all of a sudden, the piano started and BOOM l had my heart taken! It's of no importance how many years have passed..Abba are classic and timeless. Thankyou for another great reaction David. The Abba train has recommenced...LET'S GO!! Ciao bello! 🤗😁
Bjorn just wore some modest pair of boots here in it didn't he? lol.Twas early to mid '70s glam rock fashion for the bands and soloists at the time, until late 1975.Early 1976 everything changed drastically.
This was the last song of this album called Abba that came out on single and i think their first international number one hit. In the UK it knocked Queens Bohemian Rapsody of the number one place.
Wow!Well to be honest i was expecting like crazy that promised ABBA 'Happy New Year' reaction of yours that finally didn't happen. You did all the squillion rest festive Xmas ones but no Abba to this?!Even in Vietnam it's a traditional song to change the year every new years eve.(Serious!)
I think he should continue to react in chronological order to the songs/albums. So many reactors reacted to HNY that it was almost annoying to see no reactions to other ABBA songs in that days. With luck he can react to it next New Year. 😀
I was missing these ABBA videos.... Although we have heard this song for a billion times, yes, it's a very good and unique song. Those close-ups of the mouths is typical in many ABBA videos, a kind of a trademark. Björn's outfit is ridículous but I LOVE Benny's outfit and look. Thanks, David. 🙃
The video looks great upscaled to 4K. You can see the shadows on the background and the green detail on Agnetha’s outfit. The outfits do get less outlandish as time goes on. Can’t wait for your review of the songs you’ve not heard from the album.
Happy New Year (I know, I'm a bit behind). Another great reaction. This video and song is classic Abba. It really does feel like we've hit another level once we get to this song. Enjoy your week, GT.
Wow...this is very different music on your channel🤔 I must admit, I did love them back in the day & they were Superstars, great memories as well as lots of other Bands, great era for the music seane!!👍💙🎹🎶🎷🎸🎧🎤
ABBA is what gave my channel my first "boost", so I need to stay true to the ABBA fanbase, and I made a commitment, that I would react to ALL ABBA songs I have not yet heard. So I included the songs I have heard too, but not seen as a Live performance, of a music video =)
@@GivenToe I can understand ABBA giving your Channel a boost, every song they sang was a hit💥they have made a great contribution to the Music industry🎸🎶🎶🎹🎷🤙
This song was never intended to be a single (wtf? how?) but an Aussie music host kept playing the video on Australia's top music show. The local record company eventually got permission to release it as a single and it went to #1. UK followed suit. And nearly fifty years later we have a bunch of movies featuring the song or called 'Mamma Mia'.
I was wondering, when I saw your upload if you really don't know Mamma Mia....everyone knows Mamma Mia😆. I know this video from waaaaayyyyyback in the 70's. I must be very old...what I really like about this the fact that female singer were allowed to have proportion in their bodys. Agneta and Anni-Fried are so so beautiful . They didn't have the pressure of being thin thinner and worse. The are normal and very very beautiful 😍 Now remember to do Feuerschwanz with gimme gimme gimme😊
I also remember seeing this video long time ago, when I was a child back in the 80's, it's actually one of the first ABBA songs I heard, very first was Take a Chance On Me
For now at least 😅 I appealed it, and they have 30 days to decline or approve. We shall see. Worst case scenario I will edit the video, and re upload it. 😊
I have seen this video many times, but like it, because it is not jumpy and allows you to actually watch them sing. The clothes were outrageous and you are right that they are amusing today. I think they wanted to stand out and that's why they dressed like that. They are four very good looking people, even in those clothes.
I commented already but… anyway jump forward 40+years to I still have faith in you to frida laying head on Agnatha shoulder and she rolls her eyes I do believe this is the video they were making. There is a video for hey hey Helen on stage not under official videos though
ABBAMAN.. as I mentioned in previous comments the third album is wherever really flies to the skies from here on out there is a lot of videos that were made from each album that were not always a single so when you do the next songs try to look for a regular video . Some of my favorite tracks come from this album and I know you will enjoy them a lot
I hate to say yayyy abba again with all the other great reactions but yayyy abba. Great reaction again as always too. As most time as it happens I’m at work cramped up under a hot tub in the snow and ice, so I know I will watch again later, just playing on the phone while I work. Whistle while you work, nope, abba while you work ! I can’t believe I actually said that.
So nice to see you back with an ABBA reaction. I don't know about others, but lyric videos are not particularly beneficial for true ABBA fans. Missing out on a lot and they don't do justice to the official videos. The decision to wear these outfits was to appease Swedish tax authorities who, at the time, had special tax discounts for items of clothing bought for work purposes that couldn’t be worn for everyday life. The loophole almost certainly wasn’t created to make tax exemptions for pop bands’ stage clothes but, technically, ABBA was right as nobody was wearing that outfit down the shops.
Interesting idea but for the hits you’re already familiar with, have you thought about maybe doing a reaction video to the live version instead? Say, Dancing Queen, for example - check out the version from “ABBA In Concert” instead. They were a great live band too, it’d be interesting to hear your thoughts
@@GivenToe there’s not many live versions of Mamma Mia on RU-vid. But definitely check out “ABBA In Concert” for some of the other big hits. Here is a great live performance of SOS, which is also on the same album as Mamma Mia - when you get to it :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AYGFPy3BnUw.html
@@GivenToe cmon dude Dancing Queen deserve 03 reactions haha one for the original video, the ABBA In Concert AND the live version from "The Movie" - is very emotional!
Hey Mr Toe fascinating erudite assessment Sir, & really enjoying your Swedish accent, particularly the unmistakable "s" & "z" sounds can see (& hear), here & there, also the suggestion of a great singing voice in yourself (lovely baritone), very handsome too mind you, your snippet of "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the beginning is predictable cos i was already guessing that you're a huge dyed-in-the-wool fan of the dreaded Queen (The World's Worst Band) predictable too are the comments about Abba's naff clothes: yeah in 1975, as you say, all bands were wearing stuff like that, during the unbelievably gross, hideous "glam rock" era (as a young boy in the 70s it seemed hideous to me even then) *just flip through some photos of the dreaded Queen (The World's Worst Band), say in 1975, & see it again for yourself but Abba early on needed to draw much more attention to themselves in order to succeed in a music scene dominated by Brits 'n' Americans & in the time of glam rock that regrettably meant the flashy, ludicrous costumes (none of that is rocket science, Sir....which i've said to you before: ref. "I Do, I Do, I Do...") you're a "proper rock fan" also i know because of your smirking, sniggering, giggling manner towards Abba which you can't quite ever contain (i may also be psychic) & have noticed that at the end of your (many) Abba reactions you often don't really have much to say....almost as though you had expected to hate the record but then find yourself speechless at the power & flair of the music (hence falling back on predictable, smug, dopey, meaningless comments about naff clothes) MUSIC HISTORY TRIVIA: "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the dreaded Queen (The World's Worst Band), admittedly in this instance an impressive record, was UK Number 1 for weeks & weeks over Christmas 1975/New Year 1976 (i remember it well) but was finally knocked off Number 1 by.... ABBA "MAMMA MIA" Strange But True P.S. another weird psychic hunch that you're an old fan of the tiresome, equally dreaded Marillion & just like your hero Fish it was only the tragic intervention of Male Pattern Baldness that prevented ya from holding onto a long horrid mullet hairstyle to this day (sob), "proper rock fan" that you are now sadly as bald as a coot x
Welcome to the LP ABBA not ABBA the Album which comes next.😂 the reason you may recognise the shot of the girls adjacent to one another with close ups of their lips became a trait used in other ABBA videos which may be why you recognise it.
ABBAMAN., Next up on Abba is hey hey Helen never a single that I know of there is a simulated live version the girls are wearing lime green and purple capes better to look at that video then a picture of the album cover
Bjorn could have been wearing just a speedo and I wouldn't have noticed... couldn't keep my eyes off Agnetha in this one! 😍 Is it ever really accurate to describe anything as perfect? Can't find any fault with this brilliant song. It's perfect. Cheers Mr. G! 🇺🇲🇸🇪
