It's even funnier when translating directly since the subs are adjusted for an english speaking audience, like the "foreign markets" part actually lists "wine, booze, Volvo and Saab isn't even swedish anymore" and the "eurovision" part is sung as "schlagerfestivalen" which was the old name for the eurovision preselection contest in Sweden (a.k.a Melodifestivalen) bc Mello is the most watched program on swedish TV 😂
@IceCreamSplat

@@dwaynesview I may have been a little too generous with the word fact there, but it is at least a highly plausible theory. Looking at British texts from before and after the vikings conquered parts of Britain, there is a noticeable difference in humour. Since the vikings left precious few texts behind, it is hard to verify though. But we do know that the norse were very big on poetry, like obsessed with it, and they often competed against eachother in verbal fights, trying to insult their opponents in various witty ways. So it's certainly not a farfetched theory.

Here's the correct translation but with less good rhythm cause yeah hard to translate but just in case ur curious what they actually say word for word: Intro: Yeah it is very easy to loose the faith.. in the world we live in today. But, I would like to, as comfort.. would like to say like this, that: Song: Over this whole world (oh yeah oh yeah) Happens catastrophies terror murder (alas and alack) But us who walk with Jesus, have yet our backs free Because the root of worlds evil, is not us! No its the **** fault! (The ***** fault!) the ****** fault! (The ****** fault!) In the bible it is written: "it is the ***** fault" I don't now which row or verse, chapter or part But somewhere here it is written "it is the ****** fault" The war in Afghanistan? The ******* fault! The dictatorship in Iran? The ***** fault! And earthquake, flooding and everything else horrible? That "wine and sprite" and "Saab" and "Volvo" is not even Swedish? Yes it is the ****** fault! (The ****** fault!) The ****** fault! (The ****** fault!) The world is one fire and it's the ****** fault My son with hunting rifle four people shot to death, somehow I can feel it was the ***** fault Divorces and alcoholism (the ***** fault!) Parking attendants and atheism (the ***** fault!) That the youth nowadays never learn *respect/discipline* ((old slang word that kinda means that, also "shame")) That schlagerfestivalen(melodifestivalen/Eurovision) nowadays never want to end Yes it's the ***** fault! (The ***** fault!) The ****** fault! (the ****** fault!) Everything is upside down and it's the ***** fault My upbringing have made it that I probably never can be psychologically whole But my family is in agreement it's the ***** fault Crazy fundamentalist (the ****** fault!) Every conflict in world history (the ****** fault!) And religious grounds/foundation/bases we go to war kill and fight But the debt/fault that it is like that, don't fall on us No it's the ****** fault (the ****** fault!) The ***** fault! (The ***** fault!) Thereof can we agree it is the ****** fault One can believe it is Satan himself who play us their game But even he goes free because it's the ***** fault Yes it's the ***** fault (the ***** fault!) The ***** fault (the ***** fault!) Everything that is wrong, yes it the ***** fault I've been sitting in front the computer so my neck is stiff (there is no doubt it is the ****** fault!) Whats funny is we still play this both ironically and "literally" in a sence today. Political party's and or groups related to LGBTQI stances (especially political youth parties, trust me im vice-chairman in Stockholm city for one of these parties. We play it all the time IN PUBLIC... On speakers) will play this very commonly as a stance against homophobia and anti-LGBTQI. "De är böggarnas fel" is still a very well known joke and pretty much everyone even the kids will usually understand the reference.

@Thaerii

Everyone in Sweden understands that this is satire showcasing exactly how absurd homophobia actually is. Something similar could definitely have been made today in Sweden, but of course it would have had to touch on contemporary issues, like trans people rather than gays, the war in Ukraine rather than the War on Terror, and Tesla's attempt to crush Swedish unions rather than lamenting that some companies are no longer Swedish. About Eurovision Song Contest? The Swedish qualifyer takes place over 6 weeks! _That_ is what they actually allude to here, not the three events over less than a week that is the international contest. (They sing "Schlagerfestivalen", which can mean either the Swedish part of the contest, the international part, or both.) The kind of Christians parodied here are American-style Evangelicals rather than Catholics, by the way. Not that the Catholic Church isn't against same-sex relationships, but at least it doesn't blame gays for the very existence of all evil.

This sketch was actually inspired by a Swedish comedy duo from the 60s: Tage Danielsson and Hasse Alfredson - the latter being the father of Tomas Alfredson the director of the Swedish vampire movie “Let the right one in”. Those two made a gospel parody sketch called “Hur ska det gå med min syndiga kropp?” or “What will happen to my sinful body?” for their show “Konstgjorda Pompe.” 😊 The joke was about everything fun being dangerous - food, alcohol, sex, entertainment - and while the lyrics are all different from “Bögarnas fel” the music, the choreography and the way the lyrics are presented are SPOT ON!

Yes, SVT = Sveriges Television ~ BBC. ( Denmark: DR, Norway: NRK ) We admire British humour very much over here in Scandinavia, so we are often inspired by it. We often laugh at the same things as you do in Britain, watch many of your TV comedies, and we use a lot of irony, sarcasm and dark humour as well - although sometimes you really need to explain it to the poor Swedes more carefully 😂 ( Dane here 😉 ). And Germans typically don't get irony, sarcasm and dark humour at all 😉 - as a certain Basil Fawlty so correctly pointed out. 😂

I love this song! I'm from Sweden, and also bi and most queer folks love this song too. It's kind of annoying tho when you see people posting it with a caption like "I miss when we could joke like this" because it's still being played at pride events and stuff like that.

Yes SVT is like the BBC, in fact it was originally specifically modelled after the BBC with the same idea of politically independent funding guaranteed by a TV license fee. SVT also has the same issue of political "independence" the BBC does as lampshaded in the UK Comedy great Yes Minister(which is and always will be the greatest political satire show in history XD).

SVT is our ”free channel” in Sweden. A Chanel without commercials and that are free for all. Funded by the the state/government money (is it called treasury…?)😊

@@Bawamba absolutley, by the taxpayers (the treasuary are taxmoney? Am I wrong? My english is far from good sadly). But I for sure wouldn’t say force founded. May feel like that for some but most people would happily let some of the tax money found that if they were educated on what it really means.
@Bawamba

The SVT tax is force founded. It's maybe 10% of the people watching SVT, and maybe 50% watching television. Before it was bound to taxes you payed the money yourself for "tv license". But since SVT is so biased and corrupt, people didnt pay it. So they didnt get money in to force their biased opinions onto people. So they changed it and added it to taxes so that you're forced to pay it even if you watch it or not. Just to found their BS.@@zannadunstrand6289

SVT = Sveriges Television = Swedish TV like BBC = British Broadcasting Corporation SVT is owned and controlled by Swedish Guvernement and is like 98% ad free and they have two channels, like SVT 1 and SVT 2 like your BBC ONE, BBC TWO and so on But they also have a SVT Barn (Childrens channel) and a SVT Kunskap and SVT 24 (Knowledge and news 24/7)

I think that Swedish and British humor are quite the same. What I have noticed when watching reaction on both this and for instance Little Britain (which I absolutely love) is that you say that this wouldn't be accepted now?? Have I missed something? My gay friends for instance still laughs at this and Little Britain "cause I am a lady"
