I don't know if this is a common trope in Europop as I don't frequent the genre that much outside of ABBA, but ABBA in general has always had a certain fairytale aura in their songs. Eagle and The Piper are the best examples of this, but other songs have more subtle elements of tender storytelling and life lessons. Soldiers' innocent, yet poignant fear of the unknowns of the War; When You Danced With Me's folksy setting and demarcation between a humble village and the Big City; I Am The City's mystification of the City itself; or Fernando, which focuses more on the ritualistic aspect (as in passing a national story to future generations). A big part of all of this is how solemnly Agnetha and our birthday girl Frida tell the stories, with a technique that both achieves intensity and tenderness in each word, like mothers singing their sons a lullaby before sleep. And about Frida's solo projects, I'll admit that I haven't listened a lot to this chapter of her life, but I've always liked title track Shine. Happy Birthday to the one and only Frida!

I want to highlight the quality of her recordings since her beginnings but particularly the album "Frida Ensam" and if it had been recorded in English, it would remain an international pop classic. Her 2 English albums are excellent and original. We can also notice 4 notable projects: the excellent duet with Ratata "As Long As I Have You", the French opera duet "La Barcharolle" with Filippa Giordano and finally the song by John Lord "The Sun Will Shine Again" and her cover of "Morning Has Broken". I think she could absolutely make a new complete album with choices of songs that would be great pop standards that she loves and to which she could bring all her sensitivity, elegance and sophistication like Diana Krall or Linda Rondstadt.

Happy birthday, Frida... Sista Valsen Med Dig.. is my all-time favourite song of hers. It's just beautiful, even though I'm English & dont understand Swedish ( rough translation on the video ). Check it out folks its from the Djupa andetag album 1996 .. in fact, I think it's her best solo album❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
