ABBA is considered to be one of the largest in music history with over 400 million records sold and is one of the few artists to have succeeded across all the continents of the earth. In the mid-1970s, they were the most successful pop group in the world in all categories. Abba has almost 70 singles as lists all over the world and over 60 albums. In the UK they had 19 straight top 10 singles, 10 singles and nine albums as no. 1 on the British top list of which eight are in succession (1975, -76, -77, -78, -79, -80, -81, -82). In 2014, the group had sold 400 million records and is thus Sweden's most successful music export of all time,
ABBA are the four members. The most successful group of the seventies in the world! best selling band after the Beatles (still) and the fourth best selling act after Elvis, the Beatles and Micheal Jackson. They are brilliant and every hit is totally different
Thank you for posting this REACTION! ABBA was my favorite during my adolescence and when I visited Mexico...the Song Chiquitita in Spanish as Freaking Amazing! They didn’t speak English fluently back when they first started but what an International Famous Group. 🙇🏻♀️❤️🔍🔥🌏👌🏽
Benny is smiling because he knows it's one of the best songs they've written. Otherwise it was a very sad experience for Agnetha who was singing about her breakup right next to her husband who is standing right next to her. That shows you what great artists they are.
I highly recommend reacting to more of their songs. They have so many hits! (Mama Mia, Sos, Gimme gimme etc) Second best selling group in history. Abba is a group, the letters is an anagram. A(Agnetha) B (Björn) B (Benny) A (Anni-Frid) . Usally the girls sing together, forming imo the best female vocal-duo in history, but sometime they sing solo. Some songs is even they guys singing. When recording this song, the singer and the guy playing guitarr had just divorced making it even more powerfull.
This is without doubt ABBA's best song which is saying something considering they wrote some truly brilliant songs during their career. It's probably the most perfectly crafted pop song ever written both lyrically and melodically. Not bad for a song about a relationship break up and divorce.
awesome man! abba has a lot of well-known songs! the are the biggest band after the beatles, you have to check them songs out! like: mamma mía, sos, fernando or gimme gimme. About the song, the blonde girl (agnetha) was passing through a divorce, with the guy in violet suit (björn) and this song is about them, love it!
The name ABBA is made of all 4 members first letter in their name - Agnetha (Blond Girl), Bjorn (Guitar), Benny (Piano) and Anni-Frid (Brunette Girl - she was called "Frida" for short)
It was about HER divorce, written by her husband who was standing next to her ! ABBA are the initials of FOUR members but as this song was sooooo personal the other 3 equal members took a back seat. They are NOT backing musicians only the drummer and guitarist at the back were, my friend. I enjoyed tour reaction. :)
Actually it wasn't about their divorce, they've said it themselves as well. Just the timing was such. Although she did say that at times she felt as if it was about their divorce.
Thanks. They had a song for everyone. Ask 10 fans and they will never agree on their front 3 ! lol For me: 1/ I Do , I Do ,I Do , I Do ,I Do. 2/ The Winner Takes It All 3/ Chiquitita...:)
Even the original title was "The Story of My Life", so it's apparent the song was to some extent about them, or at least very much inspired by their divorce.
The band consisted of two married couples. The song is about the divorces both couples were going through at the time. Abba is the group, the singer is Agnetha Fältskog. They were a Swedish band and their name comes form their initials - Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anna-Frid (Frida).
Do yourself a favor, and listen to Agnetha Faltskog's ( The blond singing here) album 'A' that she released in 2013 when she was 63 (She was 30 here) Compare her voice from 1980 to 2013, especially the song I Was A Flower. Very moving and emotional, as only Agnetha can sing
Same here. Not Irish but grew up with their music in the South Pacific. I thought if we, isolated islands in the Pacific, knew ABBA, then perhaps the whole world knew them too. I was very mistaken.
Older folks in U.S. surely know ABBA. They really were huge in the 70's. Thing is they were widely disparaged because of their very "poppy" (some would say cheesy) style and sound. For me though...I was a fan and had many of their albums.
It isn't highly sampled, Benny and Bjorn who wrote most of ABBA's music have only given permition twice to sample any of their music. The second time was to Madonna who asked to sample gimme gimme gimme for her track 'hung up'
I think he meant that music afterwards sampled this song. I don't know any myself off the top of my head, but I wouldn't doubt that this track has been sampled in hiphop or something else.
3:50 is life- “Heeey” back at you! You look like you’d be a riot to dance with, too bad they don’t really play this at clubs. Not dance in a gay way, but you know what I mean. 😆
This song was about the divorce of the guitar player and the Blonde they were going through at that time. If you listen closely you'll hear that is actually a sad song. "the winner in s divorce case actually wins it all.
Only ONE that has been allowed to Sample there Music. And that is Madonna. You will never hear a ABBA song in a commercial. One company tried once. And that was were cost-full for that company.
This so strange. The pianist right there playing was married to lead singer there and they bdivorced. The other two were married two, the guy playing wrote the song. Those the guy playing seems more cheerful than the singer. But this must have been killing them. The winner takes it all. Not true. The winner gets hurt too. Obviously it hurt both of them. They took a real sad situation and put it too pretty music. Later when the boy bands did this they called it dirty pop. This is definitely dirty pop before it had arrived on the scene in the 90’s and early 2000’s
You are so right there was no Winner and Everything was slipping through their fingers especially for Björn who seen to bee loosing the relation with the Children for some years.
