The singer is Agnetha, her husband wrote this after they got divorced, he went on to marry someone else, she didn't have a partner for many years. He made her sing lines like And tell me does she kiss like I used to kiss, does it feel the same when she calls your name.... It must have been SO difficult for her.

It's the end of the journey for ABBA, so in love at the beginning. ABBA were Agnetha Bjorn Benny Annifrid, hence the band name. This song was written by Bjorn for Agnetha to sing during their real life divorce, that's why it sounds so real.

Shon, It is a break-up song. Agnetha (Anna) sings the lead. It was written by her husband Bjorn and Benny Andersson . Anna and Bjorn were the AB in ABBA "The winner Takes it All" was released at just after they divorced. Benny and his wife Freda (Anni-Frid) were the BA in ABBA. They divorced soon thereafter. Today, 40 years later the band is together again.

You have SUCH GREAT ENERGY! Yes those lyrics were personal to her because her husband (guitar player ) wrote the song and they were divorcing. The other two were also to be divorced soon after. Complicated situation for members of the group all married to each other

For sure. Björn Ulvaeus wrote those lyrics about their divorce and his ex-wife Agneta sung it like it really matters. A musical gem.

That was her long-haired, former Husband standing to her right, who wrote the song that she had to perform about THEIR divorce(though at the time they just said they were "influenced" by it but the truth emerged later. Abba had 2 Lead Singers but, for obvious reasons, Agnetha sang this solo.. The other Guy was on the piano, with the beard:)

Best Band Ever

Thanks for the reaction. I've always loved ABBA. And yes, this song probably hit home for the blond lead singer. She and the clean shaven guy to her right playing acoustic guitar were married when the band first started out, and he wrote the song. They divorced just as the band really started gaining a lot of world-wide fame. But even though their divorce was friendly, I'm sure there were some feelings there. And the singer with the dark red hair, Frida, has just married the bearded guy at the piano, Benny. Their divorce was not so amicable. The band didn't survive their divorce.

I like the juxtaposition of ABBA's catchy hooks and upbeat melodies against their sometimes soberingly sophisticated lyrics. It's got something for everyone. You can think deep thoughts while you are dancing! They were deservedly popular, and their music holds up. Glad you reacted to it. In my teengae years mum had the Abba album. I know all the songs and words. This song was vert sad and it affected me about love n loss. i felt for when she sang tgus song coz it relates to her divorced from her husband. Must had been hard to sing it.

I think she's talking about a divorce with her husband he did her wrong and when she said someone way down here loses someone dear I think she means the kids and at the end I think she's talking about the end of the divorce in court because they were couples all the two girls with the two guys and they all got divorced
