Abbots Leigh is thought of as one of most sought after villages on the outskirts of Bristol . Its about 2 miles away from Clifton.
I will visit the charming village in another video, but in this video I will show you a delightful woodland and water walk that is perfect for walking of a big roast dinner that you might have eaten at the George Inn in the village (or even to work up and appetite for one!) If you do decide to eat at the George, it is advisable to book as it is extremely popular for its Sunday roasts!
There is also a fantastic coffee shop attached to the George Inn.
The George Inn post code is: BS8 3RP
Abbots Pool Car Park is off Manor Road.

Very nice walk. It would be a lovely place in the summer. You could sit and have a picnic. Thanks for all your videos

The roast dinner did look good. What a delightful place for a walk. Love that little bridge. Good to hear people out enjoying the fresh air. The cave is wonderful. Hope you are having a good weekend. Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️

Thank you Dave and Dawn! That roast was so good! In all my years going to Abbots Leigh, that was my first time that I have been to that pub. Today I am enjoying an ice cream at the seaside for lunch as I make a couple more videos in the sunshine ☀️ I hope you are having a good weekend too!

Such a lovely relaxing walk and what a beautiful place - it is like it has been lost in time. I particularly enjoyed the boathouse by the lake, and that cute little bridge too. Great video Louise!

Thank you Paul! Yes, I can imagine not much has changed there for centuries. I enjoyed imagining the monks fishing in the pool all those years ago.

Hello Louise. Nice little stroll down to the pool. I reckon you needed that after the huge Sunday lunch. Seeing the fallen tree across the cascade, i was wodering if you tried walking on it.?

It looka like a really nice place to visit. Loved all the mature trees and roots over the path. The mud maybe not so much. Hope you are having a great week, Louise!

Hi Louise, what a great lunch and walk. Some nice parsnips there. I think we live in the Parsnip triangle here, its a devils job to get them. They are grown and consumed here but not in my part of the world (they are chirrivia in Spanish). I couldnt resist having a look at the history of the place and discovered that Pulhamite isnt actually a rock but a patented composition that no one knows quite how they made it. I was expecting to see a mill but it turns out this was a medievel fish farm. Its alovely place so close to the cirty too A great sunday afternoon walk complete with some mushrooms on the tree, well done!! All the best!!

Thank you David! That’s interesting about the parsnips. Thanks so much for looking into the history and finding out more about pulhamite and for sharing it here. That’s all really good to know and I really appreciate it.

This looked like a lovely walk Louise, that mud at the end was similar to the mud I faced in Wells (felt I could have easily lost my shoe in it!). I've not heard of Abbots Pool before (only of Abbots Leigh) so thanks for showing us around.

Thanks Jesse! Haha! I had visions of losing my shoes in that mud!! I hope you get a chance to visit Abbots Pool. I can’t wait to return to Abbots Leigh to do more walks.

I think you probably benefitted from a stretch of the legs after that wonderful looking lunch. Although I am frightfully anti-social, it was rather lovely to hear people enjoying themselves at the pool. That squelchy bit did not look appealing at all.

Similar name! That’s Abbotsbury in Dorset where the Swannery is. I really want to visit that some time too!
