Abbotsford: Snow fall and flood water viewed by drone Saturday update 12-4-2021

Snow has been falling all day over the flooded zones of Abbotsford, Canada which remain under an evacuation alert. Aerial footage filmed this morning at 10h am shows some snow accumulation next to fields submerged in water. Flooding have now receded but the soil filled with water has numerous areas still submerged at the intersection of Highway 11 and Clayburn Road. Snowflakes falling in foreground of the flooded Sumas Prairie's farmlands give a surreal sight of the result of three weeks of flooding in BC.

Lived in the area almost 50 years, never seen anything even close. Moved to the interior only to be surrounded by fires and its devastation this past summer. Beautiful sunny day here. Several family members were evacuated from Mission, Abbotsford (Sumas Prairie), Merritt and still not back in their homes, and highways closed, no Xmas visit this year (Plane ticket $600 return, crazy!).

Here I am watching all the snow and flooding from New Mexico where we are crying for rain. We haven’t had a hard rain storm in months. It is so dry here. We are in a serious drought.

I agree: This flood has been absolutely devastating! Homes flooded - completely ruined, roads washed away - totally gone, 640,000 farm animals dead, supply lines in shambles! What are we going to eat? It is terrible! It will take YEARS to recover from this! But did you see that China, just last week, had a much worse catastrophe! Humongous floods, with landslides and disastrous weather that has left 540 people dead and 14,000 homeless. (Now, this isn't a contest: just letting you know that the world itself is in turmoil, and that, frighteningly, 'we ain't seen nothin' yet'). For the record: China has had well over 100 floods/earthquakes over the last 24 months that would make this Lower Mainland disaster pale in comparison. The 3-Gorges Dam - the biggest dam in the world - has been in peril non-stop for almost 2 years now! The water behind the 3-Gorges rose to 173 meters a few months ago; (at 165 meters they said it's "head for the hills!" time!) We'll see where it all goes.

Are people pumping the water out of the areas it is trapped in? Trapped water that becomes stagnant also becomes a health-hazard. A breeding ground for mosquitoes as well as allowing mold to grow on debris left behind are just two of the hazards around after the river drops. Houses that have been flooded and have drwall need that all replaced, as the old material that did not get wet still has mold spores on the paper on the inside of the wall. Remove it all, treat the frame with an anti-fungal agent (Borax solution sprayed on in a water solution) and install new drywall. Pretty much anything made of paper and mold is present has to be thrown out as just high humidity would be enough moisture for the mold to re-activate and start to grow. Mold is a toxic subject to any living thing.

Cold spell don’t linger that long. Very seldom the get harsh winter out there. Live there man years ago. Snow ❄️ doesn’t stick around . Of course everything can change. Hope the people will get help and a warm place. My heart goes out to everyone.

It was her land to begin with....we tried to make it hospitable but this was her lake to begin with....she wanted to send a reminder to all of us.... "Don't mess with what I've created!"

Well this video is part of the storey but most of this water has to make to the mighty Fraser river .l wish there was a view of the Mission bridge and it's high marker to show the height of the Fraser . I suspect it will show the massive Fraser river

I almost bought a decommissioned railroad burm off Sumas Rd. just north of the border back in the eighties. It was solid railroad rock ten feet ABOVE the berry bushes. I wonder if THAT piece is now under water. Build high.

So strange that you tell us to turn to "god" in prayer, when isn't it this very "god" that is responsible for all this?? all this damage and loss of life, both human and animal. the worst sinners are you bible thumpers that continue to sin but use your faith as an excuse to get forgiven only to sin again. keep your faith to yourself, if you want to believe in such a thing that supposedly brings great comfort and rewards in life only to snatch it away from under you with far more devastation than any good that life has to offer.
