Talbot: "At night when the moon is full, I turn into a wolf." Costello: "You and twenty million other guys." I love that line.

@@latenightswithsammy I think one of their funniest is called “ Hold that Ghost “ from 1941. Just know that if you ever put that one on RU-vid, there’s definitely a part in the beginning that would very much only slide in the 1940s.

"I've had this brain for thirty years. It hasn't done me any good!" Fun Fact: The archive footage of the London policeman is from Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man (1943). Count Dracula Fact: Although he would play similar vampires, ghouls, zombies, et al, in other films since Dracula (1931), this would be only the second, and last, time that Bela Lugosi would play Dracula in a feature film. Casting Notes Fact: Bela Lugosi's last involvement in a film for a major studio. Lou Costello didn't want to make the movie. A $50,000 advance in salary and the signing of director Charles Barton, the team's good friend and the man some call their best director, convinced him otherwise. Authentic Battle Damage Fact: Lenore Aubert did all of her own stunts and all her own screams, including the scene in the laboratory in which the Monster, played by both Glenn Strange and Lon Chaney Jr., picks up Sandra and carries her to the skylight window to throw her through it. Aubert wanted to do the stunt to its completion and be tossed through the window, which was actually made of spun sugar; however, director Charles Barton and studio head Robert Arthur, explained to her they were nervous and scared for her safety, and while they took every precaution to ensure she would not be hurt in any way they could not let her be tossed through the window because the insurance company would never allow her to do it. It was a good thing she didn't do the stunt to completion, though, because her stunt double, Helen Thurston, fell on her right hip after being tossed through the window because the cable wire she was attached to was given too much slack.

Universal Studios did a lot of IP crossovers back in that era. the monsters all met each other and Abbott and Costello got to meet lots of people. So did Scooby Doo, Laurel and Hardy, The Muppets, and a few other at the time big names. in the case of Abbott and Costello they have there own stand alone work as well as there monster crossovers as well as Meet ups with the Key Stone Cops, Jack and the Bean Stalk, and Captain Kid Similarly Laurel and Hardy got to be with the Little Rascals and often part of a large "All of Hollywood" Ensemble including some surprise cameos. See Babes in Toyland / March of the Wooden Soldiers as an example. You can also find good team ups from Buster Keaton and Lucille Ball, Three stodges and a few others. Some other monster films followed this sort of idea too Young Frankenstein certainty counts for this genre but also Monster Squad and Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters is on record of taking inspiration form Hold That Ghost and the Bob Hope film "Ghostbreakers" This film was out in the last era of the Univeral monsters. This and Creature from the Black Lagoon were the tale end of the era. Though some people tack on The Fly and the Blob, the Thing, Godzilla and King Kong as also monsters. regardless, this is a great way to get to know every one.

The mixture of comedy and horror and the cleverness of the writing makes this my favorite movie. The director allowed the comics to play around on set and have pie fights with the cast. Their other movies did not have this level of cleverness. Batman (1966) is another watchable movie that is silly but keeps your attention.

You must not have not been paying attention when Larry Talbert was telling Costello. That's when you saw them running from the phone to the door they know, they're in dracula's house par

I love your reactions! Your enthusiasm brightens my day. I grew up in the 1960s, when TV filled many hours with B pictures. Consequently, I saw just about all the various series: the A&C movies, Tarzan, Jungle Jim, Chalie Chan, Mr. Moto, the Saint, the Falcon, Ma and Pa Kettle, the East Side Kids/Bowery Boys, Francis the Talking Mule and others. I haven’t revisited most of these, so I appreciated this opportunity for a quick refresher. There was probably never anyone better at fast verbal comedy (they started as radio stars). Their “Who’s on First” routine is immortal, and I recommend finding a long version of it to get the full treatment. Many others have imitated it, but no one has the perfect timing that A&C had for it. One very long version of it appeared on their short-lived TV show (I saw it in reruns). “Buck Privates,” A&C’s first feature, was a big hit in 1941 and was their best movie overall, I think. I also think that “A&C Meet the Invisible Man” is the best of the “meet” films.

Glad to see you watch this classic. I grew up watching these guys so I've seen just about all their stuff. These Universal Monster collabs were always a blast to catch. Between The 3 Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, and these 2 nut cases they were my personal favorites. Though they all have their moments Abbott and Costello had many great routines and films. ' Who's On First ' being probably their biggest hit. Lot of fun here. ✌️

The other movies where A&C meet the Invisible Man and the Mummy are…not great. (And not sequels.) If there’s two other classic Abbott & Costello movies, there’s their first starring role, “Buck Privates”, where they join the Army, and “The Naughty Nineties”, where they play a vaudeville team doing the DEFINITIVE reference version of their “Who’s on first?” baseball routine. (Also “Jack and the Beanstalk”, their first venture into Technicolor kiddie musicals.)

Hey Sammy ! I personally think that A&C Meet Frankenstein is the best horror comedy of all time. I know people love Y.F. but I never liked Young Frankenstein which is stupid humor that I have never enjoyed. I prefer classic humor like A&C Meet Frankenstein.
