Another "What If?" scenario, this time presupposing what a color (sorry, "colour") ident might have looked like if ABC had held on to their weekend ITV contract in the Midlands after the 1968 franchise round. (In real life, ABC effectively merged with Rediffusion, the weekday ITV contractor for London, to form the now-legendary Thames Television, while the weekday contractor for the Midlands, Lord Grade's ATV, expanded to seven-day-a-week operations.)
This one was rather heavily based on the first color logo of the American CBS network. Notably, it starts off as a simple B&W logo form-up, only to dramatically reveal the truth later on... a nice touch.
Made with Inkscape, ImageMagick, and OpenShot Video Editor, all in Ubuntu Linux (10.10 "Maverick Meerkat"). The audio is authentic and taken from an actual ABC ident from the 1960s. I claim no ownership over any registered trademarks used in this video, as it is just a tribute to a bygone era of television branding.
