My chinese neighbour sent me a bowl of vege ABC Soup when I was down on fever. It was so comforting. She even bought a new clay pot and senduk to cook specially for me instead of using the existing in her kitchen. Thank you Ah Pa for the video ya. I can start doing my ABC soup with chicken.
I like the way Ah Pa explained. Ya. I knew how to cut carrot, onion and all, but today is my first time know that is called 'Kuntou' cut #beginnermalaycookchinesefood and I learned something from this video.
Ah pa. I am not sure about others. I am a very newbie. You really teach me how to cook. And thanking you for sharing so much tips in cooking. Thank you 🙏
The peeler, as you are holding the peeler, if you pull the peeler from top to bottom will be easier..instead bottom to top..hope this helps Thank you for your receipts Ah Pa
That's a fruit and veggie peeler. Oh dear Ah Pa you took off too much skin of that carrot. You can try scraping the skin off the carrot with a knife which is what my 84 year old Mum does as her eyesight isn't good and she still wants all her fingers intact. We call this ABC soup too in SG and it's a popular tasty, clear nutritious soup.
Sometimes i don't even know what to cook.. i just wanted a very ² simple easy and fast cooking recipe as long as there's soup because my son must have soup everyday.
Instead of beef, I use chicken [with bones], add celery and a few slices of ginger. I usually leave the skin on the potatoes. When possible I also use one carton [ 1 liter] of chicken stock soup. I pull all this in my pressure cooker for one hour. It’s very flavorful without salt and pepper.
Big Onion’s absorption power is very strong; when you put a cut onion in smelly refrigerator the smell will gone overnight. Therefore, try to finish it as soon as possible.
any reason why you do not first brown the meat and sweat the onion and carrot before adding water? I did not know there was a name for that type of vegie cutting - Chinese and Germans have names for everything; I was told it increases surface area (p.s. And peeling, faster and safer if peel towards you)
Actually u can brown the meat if u like, but usually for this soup, we only blanched it to remove the excessive bloods in the ribs. This is meant to be a very clear soup.
I tried this recipe recently and the soup indeed was tasty. This was my first soup ever made and thank you cooking ah pa for sharing and showing this recipe.
Thank you Ah Pa, with your help in sharing your cooking videos, those stayed overseas that homesick of comfort food back at home can finally cook any where they are now, Happy Near Year to you and family and every one watching :)
