How does he do it? I remember this coming out in the early 80s and his voice sounds nearly the very same, and he almost looks the same. One of my favorite all time songs. Terrific album.
TOTALLY AGREE; the guy must be onto time travel or something and if he is then I definitely wanna go back to 1982 or so. Would be great if I could also be 21 again.
After all those years I still remember this song as if I heard it yesterday! There was many great songs/music back then but ABC had this special mix of orchestral-pop sound that was very unique. And as many already said: It is unbelievable how Martin's voice still sound great!
This is good for being 35 years later you should find the live version from 2005 the bass is much more prevalent and funky. This is a bit subdued but still his voice hasn't changed.
Good to see Mr Martin Fry after decades of being the ironic lead singer (distinct voice) of one of my favorite 80s band, "ABC." and it is a good thing also that he won that fight in beating his own health dilemmas of cancer ABC and all their hit songs 🎵 of the 80s are all fantastic and beautiful and will always be a treasure to listen to because the great 80s British band era are the best of the best. Can't excahnge it for this current modern times radio music and artist.
The best 80‘s band!! Love Martin Fry, his voice is legendary. Drummer Richard Brook is playing on my new Single out Fall 2024, I feel grateful, happy after years of severe autoimmune illness…feeling love 😊❤🎉
Missing lyrics: And all my friends just might ask me. They say, "Martin, maybe one day you'll find true love" And I say, "Maybe there must be a solution to the one thing, the one thing we can't find"
Wonderful,,, this talking sequence which made the song complete was a result of David Bowie coming in their recording studio to meet them, he had heard about, Martin Fry was trying to put the song together and had gaps that he couldn't resolve,,, so when Martin told Bowie of this gap, Bowie suggested "Why not put a talking tidbit there",,, and sure enough they did, and became a great hit, abroad,, David Bowie helped many artist, and never expected anything back. When Tina Turner's career was failing he took action,, he and Tina were in contract with the same record company,, so he knew all the upper decision making executives, one night while visiting with Bowie, the execs asked him what his plans were that evening,, He told them "As a matter of fact I'm going to the Turner concert tonight, please come and go with me",, and they did, and he let them see and hear first hand Tina still had the mojo that made her great. Her career went uphill again, and never regressed again,,, now her and Bowie did have a romantic thing going on at the time, but her talent was the main catalyst .
He became old? He was 57 when this was recorded, so he got older but 57 is not old at all. 50 is the new 40 these days because every generation does look younger than the previous one. With exceptions alright.
@ around 2:40 the original verse with Marty asking himself (in 3rd person) about ever finding true love is replaced with an extended instrumental as a replacement, interesting. why they changed it up.
Wow the years have passed but Martin's voice is stella My most favourite band of all time I have grown older but ABC will never age. Listening in 2021 from Perth Western Australia
