Hammerstein was first introduced in Starlord comic (UK's first full colour comic) in the Rojaws and Hammerstein strip (Rogers and Hammerstein!) where they worked for a cleaning company and got into all sorts of trouble. 2000AD took over Starlord and carried over some of the characters, incorporating Hammerstein into ABC Warriors and also brought over Rogue Trooper. ABC Warriors did feature briefly in the Stallone Judge Dredd film. With the mini's they look like they have been given a wash as the detail stands out clearly..
To be honest, it’s tough to get excited about a game if you’re not familiar with the backstory. Like with the MotU set... I was very excited to see He-Man and Skeletor on the tabletop. More my world.
It looks pretty neat, but it's a shame they couldn't keep the cost more digestible. Not knowing much about the ABC Warriors, and certainly having no nostalgia about them, it's a bit too much to take a flier on.
Those game cards are a massive upgrade over what they have done in the previous 2000AD games. I'm still not a fan of the resin, most especially since they charge the same or more for it than they did for the metal, contrary to the cost savings involved.
Now this is interesting. I grew up on 2000AD, & while Judge Dread was awesome, I have judges for law enforcement in my 15mm 5 parsecs games, Slaine & ABC were always my favourites. I couldn't quite justify the cost for the Dread, game but this...
