1. Money is purely a medium of exchange, of NO inherent value. As with the Manna in the wilderness, we are told NOT to cling to it, but to consume it, which is what taxes and other revenue does. 2. Gold is an asset, famously used to impersonate God in the golden calf, allowing Man to rule as if God. Other traditions, such as the story of Midas, warns against gold, other assets, and asset standards to constrain the free flow of true money.
There is a awesome author and scholar that has studied and written about this more then 100yrs history. His name is Dr Micheal Hudson. He has written several books that I think Muslim must read in order to understand the trauma and grip that the west has on our financial systems. His book called Forgive us Our Debt is a unbelievable book about loans, usury and loan forgiveness.
