Abdullah the Butcher vs Kareem Muhammad (Chain Match). From Montreal's International Wrestling/Lutte Internationale. This match took place at the Quebec Coliseum in Quebec City, Quebec.
I was there on that night for the card for that match! It had to be the largest crowd on attendance I had ever seen at the Québec Coliseum. There was 12,500 plus sports fans on attendance. It was packed ! On the same card NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair wrestled to a one hour draw AWA World Heavyweight Champion Rick Martel. Both were at the peak of there prime. It was magnificent. Slick Ric speaks of this card and match in his book To Be The Man. It was a wonderful Summer evening that more than 30 years later Wrestling Fans still remember to this very day !
@rickyjohnson4184 It was "" Lutte International "" and Abdullah's manager at the time was Deepak Singh Massand. Eddie Elner on the Wrestling magazine The Wresler wrote an excellent paper in 1985 on the relationship between the two.
Growing up in Detroit, we would get International Wrestling Saturday nights on Channel 9 (CBC) from Windsor. First time seeing both Abdullah and Bruiser Brody were on this show.
The Butcher seems to be the Face here based on his entrance. He is also jumping up and down in the ring getting lose. ..something he never does. The fans cheer him on as he is coming down the aisle ,which he gladly accepts. These are all indicators.
@@lanenordgren7641 I remember him as a face in Georgia. They turned him heel by turning on Buzz Sawyer in a tag team match. I remember him in a television match with Ivan Koloff. It was a good match with him holding his own with Koloff. He was a big guy that could wrestle. Sad we lost him so young.
