I'm not a member of deeper life church but I believe in the word of God they preach. God will not adjust his word to suit civilization.

I do not know why people are thinking Abel Damina was referring to Pastor Kumuyi in this video. Deeper Life Church does not have a Nigerian overseer. They do not have visible women leaders. They do not go for conference anywhere, rather others come to Nigeria for conferences. Women do not wear trousers in America or elsewhere. I know that some members during winter wear talma pulp stockings in addition to their skirts or gowns. He has been having a running battle with Pastor Adeboye. May be he was referring to his church or any other church. Abel is a confusionist. He should have mentioned the church if he was speaking the truth.

Nice video! I am an American, and a member of the Deeper Life Church. What I think is, about the wearing of hats by women of the church in the US and not those in Nigeria has to do with finance. There are branches of the church in Nigeria that I know their women wear hat, just like those in the US. So, wearing hat, by my own understanding has to do with affordability, and not merely based on doctrine. If you as a woman could afford the hat, of course you can go ahead and wear it to the place of worship.

Please Dr Abel Damina should focus on teaching people who are with him and forget about dragging men of God, judgement is coming, he should be careful. I'm not a member of deeper life bible church but sometimes God will tell me to pray for w.f. kumuyi. God knows what he's going through in the hand of those pastors under him.

Nobody is forcing anybody against his or her conviction. Whatever you believe live by it provided you are sure it will take you to heaven. Pastor Kumuyi will never compromise biblical standard. The standard is the same every where. There is a place he preached outside Nigeria, he told them to remove deeper life from their sign board and put whatever name they want if they are not ready to stand by what he believes. He is one of the men God l respect in Nigeria. You can find him in any of this rubbish. Deeper life standard is the same every where. As to wearing hat or not. He believes your hair must be covered as a woman. If you must put on hat put on the type that will cover your hair. Even the present wife put on hat. The style of dressing in Nigeria was laid down by the late wife. The women in Nigeria decided to take after her dressing. Hat or no hat , your hair must be covered.

I think there is an issue here , abel damina talks about religious traditions . There are places in the world where everyone wears trousers in the winter , no one needs go tell anyone . Media team are always on the entourage that welcome Pastor Kumuyi anywhere he travels to and you cannot force a new way of dressings on them. One thing that I know is that wearing trousers by women is very controversial. Jesus quoted the Old Testament a lot but never prescribed how we ought to dress. The Apostles also never mentioned Deut 22:5 or whether women can or cannot wear trousers. Some women in Nigeria who are police or customs officers wear trousers as professional dress and some of them are members of Deeper Life. Ladies from Deeper Life who undergo NYSC do wear the uniform which includes shorts and trousers. In some places it would be extremely difficult to live in Winter without multiple layers of trousers, otherwise, your bones will ache unbearably. Would God reject such people who dress according to the winter weather? Dressing is based on cultures and the way we dress in Nigeria is copying the western cultures and marrying them with our own. The Bible is not explicit enough on dressing, only that we must dress modestly and not expose our private parts. Deut 22:5 says "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God." Who prescribes or defines what a woman's or man's dress should be? Did that verse actually refer to Trousers (or pants)? Is there anywhere in the Bible where such distinctions were made? There are other Laws in that book of Deut 22:5 that we don't follow, why? Why did we isolate just one verse and make it a doctrine? I'm confused about this whole issue because neither Jesus nor the Apostles talk about wearing Trousers. I'm a man and I love God and I want to do the will of God but it's difficult for me to preach or defend this doctrine of women not wearing Pants or trousers because the Bible does not have information about what we classify as women or men's dressing. Modes of dressing vary from country to country and from culture to culture...which is the DIVINE Standard?

I love and respect pastor Kumuyi but as far as the Scripture is concerned, pastor Kumuyi is in error when it comes to dressing, especially when he mentioned Deuteromomy. It is a classic error that he has established and has refused to repent from. Abel Damina is correct on this one. Truth is universal and absolute. Weather doesn't affect truth.

The truth is, he deserves no attention. He lacks depth, conviction, and direction. We should be more concerned about his followers who are busy chasing wind. He is just like a well with water.

It's funny how we Christians talk as if the truth is so slippery that we cannot ever hope to get a proper and confident grip of it. We say that God knows best and what we mean by that is that we can't really know who is right "on this side of eternity". Let me say this: God knows best, but that superior and excellent knowledge of his has been revealed in the scriptures. Also, he is not a respecter of persons. Therefore, he does not deternine truth by which pastor's face he likes most. Holiness or hyper grace like we tag them is not how he determines truth. All those are just what we see when we look at his word. He determines truth by the proper and objective interpretation of his word following the rules of language, taking into cognizance important factors such as the background of statements which help to better establish the context of a statement. Truth can be clearly established. What does God feel about dressing? Samuel was told: GOD DOES NOT LOOK AT OUTWARD APPEARANCE. There is a clear information about God. If God does not look at outward appearance then you would have to use that to judge Deuteronomy 22:5. When Moses wrote that a woman must not put on what pertains to a man, he never said that doing it will lead her to hell. This teaching of Kumuyi is not the doctrine of God. If people go to hell for how they dress then God looks at(judges by) outward appearance. It is a simple matter. Pastor Kumuyi is teaching what he was taught, I believe he does it with a sincere heart...but that doesn't make it sound. What he is preaching is not the holiness of God. Think about it: Jesus did not comdemn a woman that committed adultery. Is it someone that dressed indecently that he would condemn? Any teaching that focuses on outward appearance as a basis for judgement is the doctrine of men. It is written: Men judge by outward appearances. It is a very simple thing. The trick now is that when a man judges by outward appearance, if he is a man of God, he claims that he learned that from God then we begin to take it seriously. God does not judge like that. I'll end it like this... See this scripture: Ezekiel 16:12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. 16:13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. That was God saying that he put jeweleries on Israel to describe beauty. How will God use what he sends people to hell for to beautify his people?

If he was addressing women wearing trousers, did he have to go on about a pastor or a what another minister said? Abel Damina is wrong about his attribution to Kumuyi. Exposure that isn't true is not exposure. It is covering with lies that which has not been shown to be untrue. However, does that mean that Kumuyi is right? Is his insistence that slacks or trousers are globally, eternally and permanently masculine right? The Bible is clear that a man must not wear what pertains to a woman, and vice versa. However, what pertains to a man and woman varies from place to place, culture to culture, generation to generation. What pertains to male and female in Jewish culture even in Jesus' time wasn't the same in gentile spaces. And the Council in Jerusalem did not impose upon Gentiles the Jewish fashion or ceremonial cultures as found in Deuteronomy. If Kumuyi was born 300 years, he would not be wearing suit and tie in Africa or even England. Perhaps he and his wife and daughters will be tying wrapper, from waist down and wearing whatever light garments they can get waistup. And they would be wearing clocks and tunics that go from neck to the ankle. Yet, which have distinctives as to ensure that males can be told apart from the females. So, insisting on that distinctive as to refute the feminists and transgender/LGBTQ perverts is what the gospel demands. Not legalism based on the style preferred in the middle of the 19th century. No one has the right to modify as permanent that which Scripture hasn't so codified, especially as to something known for its impermance: culture and fashion. So, there is a legalism Kumuyi has refused to acknowledge even as Deeper Life goes global that will cause him the kind of headache he is clearly already experiencing and which ultimately will cause schism and divisions in that Church. What's useful is to use the New Testament guidelines in teaching his people modesty and the need to maintain the distinctives between male and female so as not give room to the Transgender perversion in the Church.

Abel Damina is confused. He needs our prayers. He teaches the bible with human terminology and not heavenly revelation. " For many false prophets shall arise among you and shall deceive the very elect", and because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold.

Abel Damina is telling lies. First, the story never happened in Deeper Life. Second, Deeper Life all over the world uphold the same stand on clothing. Third, Pastor Kumuyi in a message he preached during a conference in the US warned against such kind of dressing. Fourth, Pastor Kumuyi also noted that he once saw a lady who met him at the airport and introduced herself as a member of Deeper Life, but when he looked at her, the dressing and look was something else. He said he doesn't think such person goes to Deeper Life. I am writing to point out the lies in this video which is aimed to paint Deeper Life as a church with double standards. Though he's trying to correct some of these issues like tv etc. Please don't Please pastors or people. Please God not church. Go check Kumuyi son's wedding ?. Sorry sir with all due respect, why are you not calling out Kumuyis doctrinal error of women wearing trousers for what it is???? I know Damina is in error for most of his teachings but the trouser issue was just swept under the rug by you. Can Kumuyi open a church in Russsia and his female member dare not wear trousers??? If she was that bold in calling him Daddy, despite how she looked, then she's not alone in it. It's clear that women in America wear trousers as against those members in Nigeria. From children church,to DLSO, to adult church. I've equally lived in America and I know. In Nigeria, no female member would try approaching the man of God in trousers, but it's different in America. We should focus on Christ and leave dressing because it's a cultural thing. The Bible was not written to today's audience, it's wrong to lift it and put on people today irrespective of cultural, religious, educational, etc differences
