smooth sailing as always, Mike. This project has so much more going on than meets the eye. I didn't appreciate it's intricacies until visiting a website that explained the scope of work involved. The incredible pier construction below water line, extending deeper than you would expect - far deeper than the original footings - in order to connect the bridge to bedrock so it can withstand the big one. And the eventual sliding left and right of the existing lanes leaving gap in which new lanes will be added. Nothing 'normal' about this job, right? Your fly-over is much appreciated and please do a progress report next time you're in the hood, buddy.
Joe, I'm sure lots of folk complain as they are slowed down on construction projects and most don't take the time to research what the job is all about unlike you doing a deep dive into the why's and wherefore. It is a fascinating project and I find it very interesting. I spent two years downstream on the Tilikum Crossing and the first year was spent building trestles and cofferdams for the deep foundation work meaning year one nothing built was permanent and would all be removed as the job progressed.. A year after I retired they brought me back in to watch over the removal of the two tower cranes that sat 260' above the river; On this project I thought I had the drone work only to find out I was beat out by a DBE contractor. No hard feelings as when I'm in the area I still stop and throw the camera in the air for a looksee. This video is the fourth in the series.
The first two clips were 125-150 agl (agw🤔) and the third clip was a bit under 400’ and near the end 75-80’. In less populated areas I have been known to fly a bit lower. Check out “Splashdown” on my channel from a couple years ago shot with the original DJI FPV.
