Ever seen a sheet piling rig in action?
In this video, we’ll take you through the mobilization journey of an ABI Mobilram TM 17 sheet piling rig from the yard to a construction site in Al Layyah, Sharjah, UAE.
The backstory: a contractor is working on a large infrastructure project taking place in Sharjah, UAE, specifically, Al Layyah. They came to us as the heavy equipment rental company, for help providing quality foundation machinery, hence, this brand new ABI rig. As we handle everything from mobilization, assembly/disassembly, to application.
At mark 1, the video starts with preparing the piling rig for transport, which includes taking the vibratory hammer attachment off the rig, retracting the crawlers, and mounting the machine onto the low-bed truck. It then travels from the rental company’s main yard in Sharjah Industrial Area 15th all the way to the worksite in Al Layyah, at a distance of approximately 15 kilometers, which takes around 25 minutes in normal traffic conditions. Once there, operators disengage the truck to drive the rig down, and a trusty Tadano mobile crane lifts off the vibratory head attachment as well. Once safely landed, the machine’s crawler will be expanded and mast coupled with the attachment- it’s now ready for work. The rig has an advanced docking system that swiftly holds the pile in place for ramming into the ground. With the help of the crane, the rig latches onto each beam for piling- a process that takes just over a minute. After each beam is piled into the ground, one of our welding technicians will weld the piles together.
This project is a key component of Sharjah's growing infrastructure, contributing to the construction of a new attraction featuring entertainment and F&B outlets. The development includes a canal linking the lake to the sea, adding to Sharjah's impressive landscape alongside Mariam Island and Al Qasba. Our ABI rig is instrumental in laying the robust foundations necessary for these significant developments.
