Babymetal are the Godzilla of the Japanese music industry and one of the top metal bands in the world. They just finished a tour on the European metal festival circuit where they absolutely killed it . They'll be touring the US starting in early November 🦊🤘
Su is an incredible talent and has been on stage singing and dancing since she was 8 at least. And she started with Babymetal when she was 12 (14 years ago). Her voice never waivers and is always astonishing live. The apocryphal story that a lot of us fans heard in the past is that she practices singing while running on a treadmill, though it's never been confirmed or denied, but the girls do say they train a lot for live shows and tours. I choose to believe Su-Metal is out there running full steam on a treadmill belting out songs at full force (even if she isn't).
The live versions are 99% of the time the way to go to really experience what Babymetal is really about. It's the live performances. The shows are absolutely amazing, especially if you go back to the early years, which I recommend. We are lucky to have a video of the show that basically propelled Babymetal into the international spotlight. The song is Ijime, Dame, Zettai (No More Bullying Forever) performed at Sonishpere 2014. All of them teenagers, in the first festival ever outside of Asia and in front of a notoriously hostile crowd in the UK who take their metal festivals quite seriously. To say it went well would be an understatement, so just check it out when you get a chance.
@@Abigirl_Reacts Nope, they are all at least 20. Su-Metal is 26 and Moa is 25 (her birthday was on July 4th) and Momometal (the newest member) is 21. The original lineup from 2010 to 2018 was Su, Moa, and Yui. They were all 11 and 12 at the time. Yui left the band in 2018 for heealth reasons and Babymetal performed as just a duo with various backup dancers until late 2023 when one of those long-time backup dancers was officially added as the permanent 3rd member. I suggest a video called The Not So Extensive Guide To Babymetal after some more reactions to get the story of how they started because it's an amazing journey the girls have been on.
Next suggestion: - *Road Of Resistance* live in Japan official MV (2015), it's the most epic live version and with the best sound and technical execution by the best musicians you can find in Japan. But if you want a more recent song and live version i suggest you another powerful version: - *Monochrome* live at Makuhari Messe 2023 🦊🤘🔥
That was a great reaction. So many thoughts. Really don't worry about understanding the lyrics so much. As Queen Su herself says "Don't think, feel!" Ok, BM can obviously put out a great mv. That said the heart and soul of BM are their legendary live performances. The "live pro shots" are often best. If you have an official live video it is generally studio sound synced over live concert footage. Choreo is done by Mikiko Mizuno. One of Japan's premier choreographers. Babymetel's songs are generally thick with different highly produced layers. So backing tracks will be used live to give the sound the full richness of the studio version. But Su is singing live. Su's ability to do this has been a wonder since their earliest days. Typically Moa and Momo are her wing ladies providing extra vocals, crowd guidance and just their unique part of the BM magic. Babymetal were actually formed in 2010-yeah, they were young. Their 2014 (I believe) release of "Gimme Chocolate" is the WTF-to many westerners-song that really put BM on the music radar of the west. So these ladies are very seasoned pros at this point. This song currently has 193,000,000 views. Babymetal's music is always evolving and changing and now all in their 20's they are a different group then when they were in their early teens. But they are now and always will be Babymetal. One of the most positive, exciting, ground breaking musical acts to arrive in a very long time. My suggestion for a more recent performance is one of their classics "Megitsune" a song who at it's heart is about female empowerment. It is one of their all time favorites. "Megitsune" live at PIA Arena, Black NIght, April 2023 (link follows): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-edbqQ-ldF_U.html
Great reaction, thanks! Yes Su-metal always sing live. She uses backtracks sometimes to harmonize with herself, even live at the venue. She sounds incredibly good and you will be impressed. 😁 I personally like if you change the video aspect... but it's probably too distracting for you... although if it helps somehow... 👍 "Metali" (metari) is the combination of "metaru" (metal) and "matsuri" (traditional Japanese festival). So it's a "matsuri" influenced song and it's all about hyping the crowd and inviting them to dance and sing along. Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". Very happy for Momoko on her first song as an official member (this is from 2023 H2) and also for her feature on that kabuki (traditional Japanese theater) style interlude. Since you are going backwards in their discography, next should be something from The Other ONE album, so, here: "Believing" (Live at PIA Arena 2023): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l_jCFgG6SIA.htmlsi Enjoy your BABYMETAL journey in our Foxhole! 🤘🦊
subscribed.. always fun to see new people discovering Babymetal maybe because I always want to recall my experience back on 2014 when I first started discovered them have fun on your journey with Babymetal as I had and still have
Glad you gave them a chance. They have a song for every mood and will definitely surprise you. 98% of the time live is the way to go to see the choreo but the recorded version of this song is a good one. Enjoy the journey. :)
Babymetal are one of the most polished hard working bands out there, the shows they do in Japan are spectacles and the production value is insane. Live is always the way to go but make sure the video says" live" in the title, some of their "official " videos are studio track over live footage but the "official live" videos are full on live and truly sound way better. You said "I love the Indian vibes going on" but this is more traditional Japanese sounding including the Japanese guitar the Shamisen and the Kabuki theatre break down in the middle, if you want to hear something with an Indian flare check out "Shanti Shanti Shanti" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-usNfBLPxJCA.html , they have also many other ethnic sounding songs including Egyptian "Metalizum", Latin "Night Night Burn" among others. No matter what Babymetal song you listen to no two will sound the same. Since you're working your way towards their older stuff "Monochrome Live at PIA Arena" Or "Road Of Resistance" from the same show will really give you a good idea what a Babymetal show is all about. The Fox Hole is deep so buckle in and enjoy your trip down it.
Yea I relistened to the track and feel silly that I thought I heard Indian vibes but it just goes to show the lack of international music I listen to haha I am however excited to keep listening to more BM not only cause I'm a fan but also to get more educated on the kabuki style of music! Ty for the information ^_^
@@Abigirl_Reacts Don't worry, you are not the first who thought you heard Indian. I would actually recommend Shanti Shanti Shanti as well, also an metal band from India is on the rise as well: Bloodywood.
LETS GOO! I knew of BabyMetal for awhile now but I haven't really sat and listened to them, But watching you react to them has me hooked Abiiii :D and I'm loving the videos. It really makes me wanna go listen to more of their songs now and get into Babymetal! :D
_Wasshoi!_ 🦊🤘🏮 Hey Abi welcome back to the Foxhole or just another way to say BabyMetal's journey, no rabbit here.😉 Thanks for coming back with this suggestion, it'll be interesting to going backwards but my suggestion is always going from around the beginning or early era songs so you can appreciate the evolution of this amazing group, but do as you please, it's all good. As for the live version pretty much always is better to enjoy the live performance, although there are some MV versions you will enjoy and feel the experience for the first time such Megitsune, Iine! Doki Doki Morning and Karate, these are the only few exceptions. We would love to see you reacting to a BM Guide, especially "The Not So Extensive BM Guide" by A Fox Song but meanwhile the answer is yes, they got one of the best dance choreographer in Japan, her name is MikikoMetal (aka Mikiko Mizuno, not related to Yui former member) she is utmost respect and even selected for the Olympics ceremony, she got her own dance group called Eleven Play and she is also behind another famous Jpop group called Perfume (which is official BM old sisters and oc under the same company Amuse), she was also choreographer of Sakura Gakuin where all these girls comes from. The other important member of this group is oc the creator and mastermind producer KobaMetal, but more of them later. You can find MomoMetal doing harsh vocals in three songs she did, during the live version of METALI!! which you can also find an official live, and when singing the second part of Headbanger!! during the special live show honoring her 21 birthday at Legend MM last March. And the more recent clip showing her unique skills was with RATATATA. Here's some official info about this song released last year. "This is officially the first new song by the newly reborn BABYMETAL, now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. This song is very up-tempo and one that was created with the envision of a summer festival taking place in a metal village and everyone forming a circle to celebrate the festival. BABYMETAL is ready to make this summer even hotter with their new song. BABYMETAL are now celebrating a very special collaboration with legendary guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. This collaboration with BABYMETAL will become a very exciting opportunity for both artists transcending generations." Tom Morello comment: _"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I’ve been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of METALI!! I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"_ The song title is Metali!! (metal + matsuri, which is a Japanese festival) and you can hear it in the spoken section when MomoMetal is doing the Kabuki moves style. Just so you know "wasshoi" is another shout used in Japanese festivals when men are carrying the shrine, similar to sore and soya in Megitsune and Karate. The traditional Japanese instrument you can hear in the beginning is a shamizen, also used in Megitsune. I can totally see why they pick Tom Morello on this, the groove, the catchiness, the super energetic jump and those typical 90's vibes at funk or alternative metal live concerts. This one is definitely a banger when performing live and they finally met along with Tom recently at Download Festival. Next suggestion: - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV (2015) Don't worry about blurring or putting visual filters, feel frree to do it when you need it and dodge the copyright blocked. Also love when reactors put themselves with higher frame than the clip, that way i can appreciate and focus more on your reaction. Yesterday was MoaMetal's birthday so happy belated birthday, and today they just announced they will be in Brazil for the first time as part of Knotfest in October.🥳 Keep enjoying more BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘❤
Woah! They´re going to Brazil, finally? The Brazilians will put on a massive and fun crowd show, you bet! Wouldn´t wonder if there´s a 100k people just for watching BABYMETAL live 😄 The Brazilians pleaded so much and so long for BABYMETAL visiting Brazil... now BM does. Nice!
Welcome back, great reaction. My original comment has disappeared again, same as the first time when you reacted to 'RATATATA'. I'll just say the official videos are all good, but live is best - and no, Su sings live every time.
@@Abigirl_Reacts Thanks - its just the RU-vid bots messing me about I think when I leave a comment that is possibly too long. I think everything I wanted to say has made it into the other comments now anyway, so no harm done.🙂

Awesome reaction. You did amazing :) Su doesn't lip-sync. Well... there WAS ONE song where she lip-syncs, but she didn't hide it. You'll get to it eventually though I'm sure. BTW at the time that I'm writing this, you're already well past 500 subs so congrats lol You're at 631 (I'm the 1 lol). Su does have an amazing voice. She's one of my 2 favorite female vocalists with Morissette Amon being my other favorite. Thats another singer you should check out. You'll also get another big boost of subs that way too as Mori also has a large following. Anyhow back to Babymetal. Going backwards is different. I don't think I've ever seen a reactor do that before. Normally when they go in order they start at the beginning and work their way though each album, watching and seeing how the girls grew and matured with each album as they started VERY young. Su was only 14 and Moa and Yui (Yui later left the band due to health reasons sadly) were only 12, so they've actually been at this for a decade already! Even after watching their videos (live IS always best btw as that is where they really shine), there's other stuff you can check out if you REALLY get into them. There's lots of cuteness to be had should you wish to follow through with all that. Like Su's graduation speech and Moa's response where she breaks down and starts crying, very adorable. Or where the class organizes a surprise graduation celebration for Su and they end up scaring her and Moa and Yui have to chase her down to bring her back lol There's lots of fun stuff to watch later on too. You're going to have a lot of fun with this band. One thing to note before I end this. Babymetal likes to experiment. You're going to find that no two song sounds alike. Take Ratatata and Metali. Even though both were collabs, and they both sounded VERY different, regular Babymetal songs also sound JUST as different from one another. Some will be very high energy, some will bring you to tears, some will make you laugh, some will make you want to run a marathon. They like mixing things up and Su loves trying to convey the meaning of the song by how her singing makes you feel. She has stated as much in interviews. She doesn't want the language barrier to be a barrier so she wants you to be able to FEEL the song. Anyhow, keep up the great work and have fun doing what you're doing!
Loved this, pause/stop/talk/blur all you want to be comfortable and say your piece - no BM fan will complain, anyone who does is worth ignoring. Yes Su-Metal is better live; her breath control, precision, and power are legendary. She can hold a note while jumping (see the song "Kingslayer" live collab with Bring me the Horizon as one example). You can spend years finding new instances of live performances and continue to be blown away, I know this from personal experience. Look forward to more! Btw: Mikiko Mizuno, also known as MIKIKO, is the main choreographer for Babymetal. She has been with the group since their formation and is responsible for their iconic dance routines. She is also the director and principal choreographer of the dance troupe Elevenplay, and has worked with other notable artists such as Perfume.
Hello Abigirl! New subscriber here for all the Babymetal, who introduced me to the amazing Asian rock/metal scene being led by very talented women. I highly recommend the latest release from Babymetal, a live performance of "Brand New Day" It is pure musical and visual bliss! Also, get your ticket now for their US tour this November. I have mine for Hollywood, FL! Have a beautiful day!
My most favorite song from Babymetal is the rendition of No rain, No rainbow in Hiroshima from the legend - S - Baptism XX in 2017 . SueMetal is from Hiroshima and she is almost in tears at the end of that balad rendition. Better than all the other version because of her emotion state in that particular song, location and time.
I love this reaction! So, I'm 47, my wife and I saw them twice in Texas last year and they put on easily the best live performances I've ever witnessed! They have an insane relentless energy, the synch dancing is mezmerizing, Su's voice hits inside your chest live, and the stage presence of all three of them is something you can actually feel! As reactions go, it's always tricky with Babymetal but I believe it's hard to go wrong. Most the time, live is better. But there are a few official music videos (like this one!) Which ARE VERY well done and worth reacting to in addition to live! I'll let the rest of the fanbase steer you, just enjoy the journey! No two songs sound alike. They have intense detailed choreo every single song. The messaging ranges from silly to super serious. They're truly a marvel!
I certainly can't choose whether to react to the music video or live... so why not do both? Lol there's no limits on this channel and I'm truly enjoying the ride! ^_^
I did watch that first reaction and from what Iv'e seen for as long as I've known Babymetal...rarely have i ever seen anyone NOT enjoy the massive talent they possess. I couldn't believe you didnt get a feel for them and thought maybe there was something wrong with you (im kidding) cuz millions of others couldn't be wrong. So, i passed you by. Somehow, you apppeared back on my feed again so...."something's gotta give". Welcome to a wonderful world you almost missed. These young ladies will steal your heart and blow your mind and your sense of what you thought music was...will never compare to what you'll be hearing now. Listen to your subscribers, they'll know whats best for you now. And while you're on this fantastic journey into this foxhole, make sure you see where it all started and where all these young ladies met as w well. Lots of videos of them in school, graduating, etc. You'll laugh.....you'll cry....but you'll love everthing about them that much more. PS. Honestly....I seen the name Babymetal quite sometime ago and being the old school metalhead, i never listened. "for as long as I've known them"....its been only since May when i caught a countdown to their Ratatata video release in May. lol Since then, I've never loved any band and their music like I have with BabyMetal. You've gained another subscriber to watch what Ive just went through. Enjoy the ride Abigirl You're gonna love it Oh...if you're still looking for screams...watch Momobanger.
@@Abigirl_Reacts It is. But its also listed as Moabanger (Moa's version) and Momobanger (Momos version) Its kind of like a birthday song being it was used and a "scepter" (you'll see) was handed over from Suu to commemorate their 21st birthdays. Or in Japan....their 20th...same thing. I don't know. Don't ask. Lol Turning from a little girl to a headbanger. Youll get what you've been wanting, in each version, they sing the last half if the song so, you'll get to actually hear them. But...Momo's version....the crowd and you, just like most of us...went crazy hearing the primal scream she let's out. Have fun. BTW...loving the reactions. 💜
In all reality, I'd like to make a suggestion as to where you should really go if you're going to follow BabyMetal. Not necessarily the very beginning but close. BABYMETAL-Road of Resistance-Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) (that exact title) That was the biggest song that caught everyone's... ear. At that age....early/mid teens...how Suu could already sing with an amazing voice and the voice control she had already, how all 3 could control the crowd, the choreography....everything, all of it...will make your jaw drop I swear. Lol But I will say, that was definitely the foundation....or the last brick in that foundation that made them who they are.
Thank you very much for the reaction. Abi-Metal, as long as it's Babymetal, you can do anything... we're here. And live, these three wonderful women are of course a force of nature, so yes, please a live video next time. Preferably something from the PIA Arena performance, Road Of Resistance would be my favorite right now. Greetings from Germany. Forever THE ONE 🤘🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts I support Road of Resistance from PIA Arena 2023. Newer performances are just better, and the only reason people request old ones is because of a segment of the 'fan base' that still lives in the past when Yui was a member, instead of the current lineup which I think is incredibly disrespectful to Momo, but they don't seem to care.
🤘🦊🤘 The live shows are amazing. I suggest 2 songs, just to see how the crowd reacts. First an older one, "Road to Resistance" from 2016. The second is "Headbanger", BUT the "Moabanger" version. This is the live version there is Moametals 20th birthday. There are a lot more and I hope you enjoy it.
Hello and welcome to the foxhole. I am a 58 year old German and stumbled in the Foxhole for two years ago. Since then I'm a babymetal fan. i seen them live in Munich and it was amasing. But be careful! Resistance is futile... So have a good time Kitsunes... 狐神のために 🦊🤘
As I am sure you have been informed, you should always react to a live version of the song. With Babymetal Live is always better. They always make sure that the audience or as they are called "The One" is involved. They have great chemistry with the audience.
Great reaction! Welcome back to Babymetal. Babymetal is by design, a live performance band. Their MVs are great, but ALWAYS choose live! Su’s vocals are live 95% of the time. The backing vocals sees a but more track usage. Next suggestion: *Road of Resistance* _Pia Arena MM 2023_ for a recent version, or _Official Live_ for Jan 2015, when they were 15/17. Both are amazingly epic. Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊
@@Abigirl_Reacts Nice! But don’t discount their stuff when they were young. They were equally epic, and had a slightly different charm back then. Definitely check out their earlier performances too, some of their heaviest stuff is their earlier works! 🤘🦊
Great reaction! There is really nothing I can add to what has most certainly already been said...except that you have been introduced to the most diverse, fun and unexpected band that I myself have ever run across. So many songs have positive or uplifting lyrics, and for us "older" fans (I am 61 and "discovered them" in 2017) it has been like watching your grandkids grow up, and feeling so proud of them! Especially given that got much hate for many years be some in the metal community...but they have persevered and I love it! Live is almost better...and I am sure there have been many suggestions provided...but honestly, I am looking forward to your next one, what ever it may be. Keep up the good work and I am a new subscriber as of now! Oh...however you feel you need to modify a video to post it, go right ahead...I am here for the reaction (have seen all the videos multiple time, lol!)
"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ Great reaction - welcome back. The song title translates as 'Metali' (or 'Metari') - it wouldn't show up in translations because it is a made up word, it is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). The song is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival, so they have included all the matsuri shouts everybody would be calling out as encouragement to the people carrying heavy floats etc like "Sore, Sore", "Dokoisho" and "Wasshoi!". They are inviting us all to dance. The lyrics (Su sings it and it is in Momometal's kabuki theatre section) say about we are all fools - the fools who watch and the fools who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all fools why just watch, we may as well all dance. You mentioned an Indian feel - this one is all Japanese (the stringed instrument at the start and playing throughout is a shamisen). They do have a song that is a full on appreciation of Indian music (or Bollywood) - that one is 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' (and yes they used a sitar). The official videos are all great and worth seeing (two or three are almost essential viewing) - but live BABYMETAL is where they are always at their best .... and yes Su-metal can do all that and sing live (and sound even better), no lip-sync. The whole concept was formed around her talents for very good reason.
and in some cases you can react to the MV and about 10 different live performances and no one here will complain (ie, Headbanger, Headbanger live 2015, moabanger, momobanger... etc etc. ) they're worth watching for different reasons.
@abigirlreacts You are amazing Sis! This video is dope af! I dig the music, you’ve made me a fan now haha, I’m also so happy to see you making content again! Have I said that yet? 😂😂😂😅😅😅
BABYMETAL music videos are awesome, the live videos are even better. I recommend you to react to their official video and a live video, two videos in the same reaction. Also, please look up the lyrics. Talk about the lyrics, try to understand and dissect them. Recommending: Ijime, Dame, Zettai official music video the Live at Sonisphere 2014 version of the same song. This was a live show that made history.
I don't think I'm quite that analytical yet, not that type of reactor but it's something I can certainly practice off camera for a bit until I'm comfortable with it. Thank you so much for the tip! ^_^
As MartinMetal said, this is a myth that spread in RU-vid comments, it was never said by Su or anybody else in an interview. She may have said she does the choreo or moves a lot in rehearsals or in the studio to get her breathing right for live shows ... but I couldn't say she said that for certain either.
⚡ 💕 🍑 / 🦊 🏮 Metal can be "metaru". Festival is "matsuri". The song title, メタり!! is "Metari !!" (or "metali"), a combination of those two things. Su-metal sings live, without lip synching. There are some backing harmonies and occasional vocal effects on her voice. It is surprising that she can dance without throwing her voice off. You might notice that the other two members are often still vigorously dancing, while Su slows down to sing.
Fun reaction! Don't sweat the lyrics. BABYMETAL works because they deliver the heart of their songs with choreo and attitude and vocals. If you don't think about it too much you can feel it and that's sort of part of the magic.
Su-Metal's vocals are amazing live and she does add some vocal flourishes and slides that aren't on the album versions. And when you consider how much they move around on stage...it is staggering to think she can sing at all let alone with the strength and clarity she pulls off live. I work on just on playing guitar and singing live...can't imagine a full-on aerobic workout while singing.
Most of their lyrics are in Japanese. They do include some English but most of those are available on the albums which are distributed by their Western distribution partner and the versions in Japan remain in Japanese.
I subscribed from your Ratatata reaction. Like that one, I really enjoyed you starting to better discover Babymetal here. In case you didn't see my comment on the Ratatata reaction, please do yourself a favor with Electric Callboy and watch their videos first. Pretty much the opposite of what everyone recommends for Babymetal. It isn't that they aren't great live, but you will appreciate their live performances of a song so much more after seeing their amazing (and usually hilarious) videos first. Then, you will understand why they are wearing a particular costume for certain songs. Plus, you will get to hear the lyrics much better that way. (Also, it might be confusing if you see references to Eskimo Callboy. That was their original name before they changed it to the current around the time when Nico, the clean vocal lead, joined the group.)
I recommend you to check some more BABYMETAL song (old and new) and then, watch the "Not so extensive guide to BABYMETAL" that explains a lot of who they are, where they come from and much more interesting staff 🦊
Another great reaction! If you're going backwards I'd say you have Leave it all Behind up next. It's another fantastic collab. No live version from BabyMetal exists (yet). The live versions of tracks are great but if there's a MV 100% check it out as it offers another level of BabyMetal. As a content creator I'd personally choose the MV and then watch the live. Only because there are numerous live performances and it can be difficult to navigate. In saying that, there are some AMAZING live performances out there.
YES 💯 % difficult to navigate! I get overwhelmed so easily trying to decide which to react to next! And thank you for understanding I also want to watch the music video as well so that I can truly appreciate the live performance. ^_^
Thanks for the fun reaction. Just a heads up on their live performances...because the choreography is so important during live shows, their is a light backtrack you may occasionally hear. This is so the band and the dancers can stay in sync in order not to sound like a complete car crash. But SU Metal is singing 100 percento and even while jumping around can still sound great. She is a highly trained vocalist/dancer who is probably the best at what she does. She's been singing/performing since she was a child and is the vocal Queen of Metal for a good reason.
@@Abigirl_Reacts She has been called Queen Su many, many times due to her powerful voice and presence (and occasional Death Stare). Well deserved title.
@@Abigirl_Reactswhenever a poll is taken for female metal front women by the media that covers the metal scene, Su-metal almost always comes out on top
@@Abigirl_Reacts I highly recommend PIA Arena 2023 as well. I know one person in your comments suggested the Makuhari Messe version, which doesn't actually exist on RU-vid. It is used as a part of a compilation (where someone will take multiple concerts in one video) as MM23 was blocked for the longest time, despite it being the only Blu-ray release we had for quite a few months. PIA Arena 2023 are just newer, and overall the better concerts.
Wash your mouth out with soap ! Su Lip Sync 😮 🤣 Joking apart 👍 Su is even better live. You have yet to see the best of Su . I will surrgest Monochrome and Road of Resistance live version 😁 Great reaction. i enjoyed it 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
To hear some of how Su-Metal sounds live, check out the BXMXC (Legend MM) that they just dropped! I've heard them perform that song live twice and yes - it sounds like that in person too. Copyright may be tricky on that one, not gonna lie, but I think it'll be worth it to hear Su's ridiculous range. Great channel, great reactions btw! Please keep it up; I can't wait to see you grow on here!
already a lot of great suggestion in the comment, i just want to stress out more to check their live. I know that normally one would watch the official video, but live show are where these girls just slay. For instance, Metali! live has a special part for Momoko that is NOT present in the video
Not sure if anyone answered your question, but in recent years they have designed much of their own choreo, consulting with their long-time choreographer for final polish.
I know people say that the choreo is done by Mikoko Mizuno, but that's not the clear picture. The way Mikiko explains it, and this was 9 years ago, with a group like Perfume, the ladies come in, Mikiko gives them the steps, they practice a few hours, and they're done. Babymetal's process is different. They come in, Babymetal shows Mikiko the steps they have worked up, and Mikiko helps them refine their natural movements for performance, and it takes a day or two per song. But the ideas start with Babymetal, Moa actually.
Hi from Ireland, great reaction you are heading for epic live shows, always try to go live definitely agree with nocturn-al pia arena shows 2023, monochrome live at pia, then road of resistance and megitsune live at pia. To appreciate the strength of sumetal, then sometime road of resistance live in Japan she was 17, you will be truly amazed, sumetal also has solo performances, Amore, rondo of nightmare, no rain no rainbow, have subscribed and liked
Welcome to Babymetal! Honestly you're going to hear a lot of varying opinions on how to dive in to this. I would say do what you feel is best but yes definitely explore the live versions of songs as well. If you want a live version of a recent song I would suggest one of the following: Divine Attack: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-igz0IfYDSZs.html Monochrome: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XJZhy7fWNyY.html Just a heads up about babymetal. They started when they were very young 14 years ago when Su was 12 and the other two were 10. They have a lot of history and you're going to be lore dumped big time (not a bad thing that's one of the compelling things about this group and the fan base) so there's a lot of history and growth to their songs with fairly clear eras. Babymetal fans are very passionate about you knowing every piece of it (again not a bad thing). At some point you might check out one of the guides that teaches you more about what they've been through and where they came from. It helps you appreciate them on a different level. Still it can be daunting so take it one step at a time and we'll be back to check them all out
Great enthusiastic reaction. 🙂 Btw, BM just released a new live video, for Yava, one of their older (but great) tracks - it might be something to react to as well.
Dokkoisho, dokkoisho! BABYMETAL HAS GOT THEIR KAWAII BACK!!! (And I sincerely hope that they don't misplace it again!) (This music video would have been so much better had they not had Vin Diesel in the background wearing a panama hat and pretending to play guitar. LOL!!!! 😁 ) First, as I said before, I think you should start from the beginning and work your way forward: see where BABYMETAL has been before getting caught up in where they are (imagine watching their first MV when Su-metal was 13 and both Yui and Moa were12 when they recorded it!). Second, as a rule, you should go with live versions but there are several MV's that are worth looking into ("Doki Doki Morning", "Iine!", "Megitsune", "Karate", and "BxMxC"). With that it mind, there's no rule saying you can't take in both the MV and a good live version. Avoid compilation videos and fancams like the plague! Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. You are not reacting to BABYMETAL, you are reacting to a highlight reel of BABYMETAL. And fancams usually have very poor audio and video. I would suggest checking the video descriptions before diving in. When in doubt, check my YT playlist "BABYMETAL Top Twenty" ( ru-vid.com/group/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj ) for excellent versions of selected songs. A technical suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or ten seconds before resuming, that way you regain the flow of the song. You may or may not know that if you tap your keyboard space bar once it will pause the video, another tap will resume play. Also, if you tap the left arrow key once, it will rewind the video five seconds (a second tap for another five seconds), and tapping the right arrow key will advance the video five seconds. This may also help baffle the YT copyright police. All in all, aside from the small pausing issue, I think you did an excellent job of editing. I'm not sure if you need to reverse the screen horizontally but if it works . . . . Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall again!) KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
Oh yea, I need to go back 5 seconds after the pause! Very good point. I'll try to get in the habit of doing that. Also your Vin diesel comment had me rolling in laughter, that was hilarious 🤣
They have an Olympic level (literally) choreographer named Mizuno Mikiko (Mikiko Mizuno for us westerners). It's difficult to find BM videos with captions for the lingually impaired but they DO exist 😜so just do what you gotta do and don't worry about the rest, the fans will translate if necessary. For catchy party type songs from them I recommend PaPaYa, and you've already seen Ratatata.
I think you did a great job with this video and the switching was not bothersome or annoying. I personally don't mind if the whole video is blurred or covered, since I've (as well as most BABYMETAL fans) have seen whatever you are going to watch 20+ times already! LOL. What I am more concerned about is that you will be distracted from watching the video and reacting to it if you are overdoing things. We care about YOUR reaction and your reaction video is not about us, so do whatever is easiest FOR YOU so you can focus on just reacting to what you are watching instead of worrying too much about getting blocked. As for pauses, they definitely help, and we are use to them, so sprinkle them in. Remember, majority of the people watching your reaction already have seen the video, so don't worry about us needing to see the video clearly! Some channels crop off part of the bottom of the video and maybe around the other edges which should be easy to do in OBS or whatever program you are using. When the channel "Offset Era" has issues with a video getting blocked, they will make the video small like you did and then cover the lower corner with a logo so almost 1/4th of the video is covered. They have also made the video full screen behind them so about 1/4th of the video is covered. Now that you have seen this video, you can check out what other reactors have done to prevent blocking when reacting to this video, but I think this video doesn't have issues as much as other videos that are from recent or upcoming DVD/BLU-RAY releases.. 🤘🦊🤘
Now THIS is the constructive criticism I was looking for! Yes, I get it now! I will get better at staying focused now that I'm not so self conscious about pausing too much, switching overlays too much. Ok. I feel better! FOCUS ON ME EVERYONE hahaha ^_^
Yea I can tell she's really singing, it's great! The live versions may certainly be better but I'm also still interested in the music videos just because I haven't watched them before but I'll definitely be reacting to both! ^_^
@@Abigirl_Reacts Oh yeah. In your video, you mentioned whether or not she would be able to sing and dance at the same time in a live situation. That was the thing I was responding to. Of course, another entire rabbit hole is the Symphonic Metal genre (which is big with reactions...): Nightwish: Ghost Love Score (Live In Wacken) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JYjIlHWBAVo.html Epica: Design Your Universe (Live Retrospect) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1qAEL81b3EI.html Within Temptation: Mother Earth (Live Black Symphony) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u5yyFrfR37I.html
Now you've gone and done it, you've unleashed the Kitsunes. Get ready to be inundated by the views, comments and sub's every time you react to BABYMETAL 😂🦊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts individually Kitsunes, collectively the entire fan base are called The One by BABYMETAL. They wrote a song for and about the fans called The One, you should put it on your list to react to
The 2023 world tour drew 270,000 people for 97 shows in 25 countries. On every stage, SU-METAL sings everything live. If you pause on the video, rewind and play it back a little. Please respect the song/lyrics and don't watch it if you treat it as a chore.
I am trying to get into the habit of going back 5 seconds when I pause, that will take practice but I don't feel like this is a chore at all! It's fun! I'm just not the analytical reactor honestly so I won't be breaking down lyrics. I don't over think. I feel. (As Su so eloquently once said) haha ^_^
Good reaction enjoyed it, do Electric callboy We got the moves it's definitely one of their best and a great live Babymetal is Karate at download festival, keep it up
@@Abigirl_Reacts Depends on the music video. So most "Official" videos on the official channel that looks live, are live footage with studio audio. An example of this would be Gimme Choco and PA PA YA. Skip those altogether, not worth it. The only actual live official videos are ones with live specifically in the title.
A word of advice when it comes to reacting to BABYMETAL. Ignore the BM "gatekeeper's" they can be really annoying, they can't resist wagging a finger of disapproval at a lot of comments on these videos. You'll know pretty quickly who they are, there's one on this video who predictably made an appearance
Dont need to know Japanese as Su-Metal herself said dont think just feel. Welcome to the Foxhole and might i suggest you check out Megitsune live 2023 PIA arena or Monochrome same night 🦊
Metali is a portmanteau of the words "metal" and "matsuri" (a traditional Japanese festival), so the song is about a metal festival and draws heavy influences from traditional festival music. Although quite a few reactors have drawn an Indian influence in this song, it is 100% Japanese. The traditional instrument you can hear is a shamisen. Babymetal have a choreographer whose name is Mikiko "Mikikometal" Mizuno. She has been their choreographer for their entire career. The trick with their dance routines and Su-metal's vocals is that she mostly does a simplified version of the moves that Moametal and Momometal are doing, and the routines are designed so that she can be relatively still in the moments where she needs to sing and then she dances around that. In terms of what to react to, we always recommend the live versions because the interaction between the girls and the live audience is an integral part of their performance. I would suggest "Megitsune" Live @ PIA Arena 2023 - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-edbqQ-ldF_U.html Don't worry too much about the copyright stuff. Babymetal's management company Amuse are notoriously strict on copyright enforcement, so reactors often have to mess with the video to get it past the content ID system and we're used to it.
Great reaction, thanks. They are amazing live, check out a live version of We got the Moves and enjoy how the crowd goes nuts. Please also check out Hypa Hypa.
🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥 Wow, you're in for a treat with Su- Metals live vocals and dance. To be honest it's quite incredible really. Ohh and as a fellow non Japanese speaker I wouldn't worry to much about lyrics to start with just enjoy the show. Japanese to English translations are notoriously bad and can take away from the experience.
Yay you're back! Generally with Babymetal "live is always better". With their music videos they often lay the album audio over the video because I think that counts for album/streaming play counts for the music charts. If you want to get a full blast of Su's vocal talents, check out the video from The First Take they did of their song Monochrome. It's a stripped down piano and vocal version and the conceit of the channel is that it's all done in one take, live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h-hPGRSjgms.html And if you want to get fancy you could also do the live concert version of the song, like this version from their 2023 PIA Arena show: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xAZeBm0o7Jo.html
Well, they have their on stage Choreographie Teacher Moa, that teaches and controls the other girls work 6 Fays per Week, but by Default thry have the best Choreographer all ovet jspan behonf their showd Mikiko Mizuno. And they did cut her are you ready growl. This means Momo is their newest member, she just joined the band in April pf 2023, oreviously she eas a silent guest dancer from 2019. And one of the main purposes of this number was to present her new capabilities, which were much bigger than Babymetal expected. In their last Collab, with Ekevtric Callboy she shared her Growls with Kevin.
@@Abigirl_Reacts Well the problem that they have, their last album was released just before Momo became a Metal and so they have no Album with their new capabilities (Chorus and Harminy singing with Moa and Su, now her growling (her fangs). And few more Collabs might be nice... And Koba was originally worried if they could still work as before the pandemic and now they show their competition their backlights.
@@Abigirl_Reacts A more recent performance is great too. Also, I noticed a lot of recommendations for "Monochrome" live at PIA Arena...I HIGHLY recommend that one too!
@@Abigirl_Reacts I would absolutely recommend recent performances. Old ones just don't really represent BABYMETAL as it stands now. I mean they have had over 10 years of growth. The old performances don't even have the current lineup of BM as Yui left back in 2017/2018, and Momo is now a member. Unfortunately this, and a certain segment of the old guard of BABYMETAL that sorta thrive in that nostalgia is one of the reasons that old performances are requested over new ones. Their backing band isn't even the same lineup anymore. Recent performance: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4XYMvGJy1JI.html
Go from older to newer. When they started out. All of the choreography was done by the people who the studio hired. As they got older, they had imput into the choreography, and now , they may still have someone in charge of it, but they have a lot of say in it. Su sounds the same live if not better. I saw them live last September. They only do an hour long set. I get why with all of the dancing they have to do, and thier record company are slave drivers. They player over 35 shows last summer crossing back and forth across the USA and Canada in less than 2 months. They are still on tour since then and are coming back to the states in a couple of months. I highly recommend going to see them if they are playing anywhere near you. The music videos are good, but their live performances are better. Su controls a crowd better than anyone. I recommend the song Road of Resistance live from Japan from 2015. Seeing a 17 year old in a tutu calling for a wall of death from the crowd is not something you get to see everyday. Okay, but now you also need to react to Rage Against the Machine. Such an important band.
If you are going to proceed backwards from RATATATA to Doki Doki Morning, in order to follow the timeline somewhat, don't skip: 2024 - "Leave it all behind" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7rdc-QV6P6s.html 2023 - "Kingslayer" (the song itself it's older but they didn't sing it together on stage until 2023) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6kYS_DMCuxw.html Yeah, the link it's Omajination's version, I hate the camera effects and instagramey cuts of the official video, also, Omajination's has more and better takes of Babymetal, AND the post-song scenes, which are precious. I still believe it's better to go from young to mature Babymetal, because that allows to insert "The unhelpful guide to Babymetal" at the end of 2017. and Sakura Gakuin scenes to see where they come from, and because I enjoy watching girls cry 😂when lovely Angel of Dance Yui has to leave the group. In any case, glad to have you join The One. Welcome to the Foxhole! 😄 P.D. Jakemueller and Grington's suggestions / lore are always good and accurate.
Dont be confused about the lineup. I will give you a short recap in 4 eras on the lineup: 2010 Sumetal MoaMetal, YuiMetal, Original Trio. 2018 Yui leaves for health reasons. Su and Moa continues alone 2019 The Avengers, a group of 3 unnamed backups rotate in Yui'a place (avegers have been identified as: Kano, Riho, and Momoko) 2023 MomoMetal, one of the avengers, steps in permanantly in Yui's place, and is now a part of the Main Trio
@@Abigirl_Reacts here to help. That is what we do. Btw, you are now considered as "The One" The One is all of us BabyMetal fans. What is the next reaction video? Only the fox god knows.
Great reaction! "Metali!" was a very good choice, too! Hope, they were heavy enough? 🤣 This is a festival song, and it is meant to dance and sing along to. As I told you already, they LOVE to make those songs! The MV of Metali! is very good, like is the MV of "Megitsune". You will notice some similarities, maybe 😉 For most other songs, you should prefer the live versions, though. This song does highlight the, at that time, newest member of BABYMETAL, Momometal. She did the "Kabuki" style part, and in the live version she does another thing you might not expect (we were very surprised, too!)😉I experienced this live myself, it was MASSIVE FUN! Su-Metal´s voice is indeed quite unique, and very beautiful, too. She is an incredible vocalist, IMHO one of the best in the world today. She is able to transport emotion with her voice, and her tone seems to be made for cutting through heavy metal music. If you want to experience a very young Su-Metal showing off, try "Rondo of Nightmare w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods" live from the Budokan 2014 Black Night performance. You´ll be blown away even more! And you´ll get to experience the "Kami Band East", their first Kami Band consisting of the best Japanese session musicians. This song is on their heavier side, too. Btw., try to get more of their choreo. That´s another vital part of what BABYMETAL is doing, and it sometimes is just as mind blowing 😉 P.S.: another comment suggested "BxMxC" live. You could do this one to see, how she sounds live. Su-Metal does sing live every single time. Some self-harmonies come from backtrack, but she does them herself, too. Other harmonies come from Moametal and Momometal (Yuimetal in the past). Yes, they do this live WHILE dancing along! These ladies are incredible in what they are doing!
@@Abigirl_Reacts Grrrr... the YT blocking striked, once again... I dared to name a specific channel for a reactable "BxMxC" live version🤐 It depends on who you ask... if it´s me: do BOTH 🤣 Some ppl don´t like the MV, but I like it very much. And BABYMETAL live is always a treat!
Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri (= festival)" → Metali. If you want to know the deep meaning and analysis of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley). And whenever you have an option (MV or live video), I strongly recommend you to pick up live one. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese festival to stoke people's exhilaration and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi (神輿) on their shoulders that is a kind of a float in Western style festivals. Momometal's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style gives an amazing accent in the exciting repetitiveness.
