I’m so so so happy that AUDIO is finally bi-directional! 😫🙌🏾 this single feature alone makes my life easier performing live because I don’t need an external audio interface, plus the integration with Ableton is great! Thank you Roland 🙏🏾
With this AND the new Tonewheel capability, Roland just changed the game!!! EVERY keyboard player needs to go buy a Fantom right now! This is no joke. Excellent work, Roland!!
@@TheGhostBuddy I'm a film composer who started in video games and as a part time educator have taught pretty much all the apps - Cubase all the way for what I do... I started with the Atari version of Cubase the moved on to Cubase Audio on the Atari Falcon 030 - many a software video game title I created the music for with that system during the 90s...
I just got my Fantom and I am blown away by what you guys are doing at Roland! I still have barely scratched the surface of what it can do but its the most amazing synthesizer Ive ever seen by a large margin. Much more than a synthesizer, stuff like this DAW integration makes it more of a hub/controller for your entire setup. It could even be used as a mixing control surface! Here is an idea if you guys are interested. On the next version of this hardware consider adding a few more knobs in the vertical fader stack and you would have full "channel strip" control via hardware for even more fluid and fast mixing with your DAW using only your Fantom workstation as a controller! Would be super cool if the LEDs changed color as well so you could mark knobs in the control stack by what they control, e.g maybe eq would be dark to light blue for low to high range, compression might be red or something. Anyway keep up the fantastic work, absolutely LOVE my Fantom and the fact that Roland is looking forward instead of resting on their considerable laurels. Cheers!
This Roland board is definitely interesting, keeps getting better and better. Yamaha, I hope you are watching (don't tell me about Machine Learning Smart Morph).
This best for rapid music creation. 16 drum sequencer gets you drums in seconds, sample pads and loops add more creativity. I have Korg Krome it has nothing only archaic screen with archaic user interface from last century. Korg Yamaha dont get it. Only Roland knows what helps ppl make music fast
Wow! Mac AND PC! I tough DAW interface was only available for MAC computers, not PC. Thanks for that. Now, the next DAW integration should be with PRESONUS STUDIO ONE
This is mega exciting!! I need to get my hands on a fantom for a review on my channel!! 🙌 there are all sorts of demos I can think of doing with this new integration!
Seems a no brainer that next up would be support for ROLANDS ZENBEAT apps too - plus eventually just integrating Zenbeat into the Fantom 8 itself... or at the very least - ( if not already in there ) allow seamless export and import to/from Fantom songs
I'd love a new iteration of Fantom Workstations adding an LED RGB light-strip of the Komplete Kontrol kind - along with the software to map articulations etc etc of software instruments like the ones in KOMPLETE ( both orchestral and pattern based ones ). The LED strip thing and NKS has such potential - shame NI have been so sluggish and inept at supporting the NKS based software
It is, at 2:30 e.g. look at the release dial in the bottom right-hand corner of the Ableton screen. Then at 2.40 the tail of the wavefile changes length.
Hi Mark, and thanks to you for this new video and to Roland for this amazing update. I had no problems with the new Organ funcions, but unfortunately it was not possible to enjoy the Ableton integration, because when i try to connect my PC (with Ableton Live 9 Intro or Ableton Live 10 Lite), my Fantom show the message 'please connect to the PC'... of course I have made several attempts connecting and disconnecting the cable between my Fantom and my PC (an ASUS one) - do you have any suggestions ? Thanks in advance .- Daniele
Please modify the sampling pad. So that you can record an even square (loop) like in a sequencer. We are a whole group of owners who faced this problem.
Thanks for the video! I can't find any information on the Fantom-08 and using the Assign keys to enable the knob/slider control in Ableton. Where can I look?
2:46, "Fantom is an evolving platform with new features getting added regularly'. Ahem, this has been left in the dust. As off11/03/23 the faint hasn't had an update or bug fix for well over a year now. Good luck.
can you explain why my Roland fantom 07 says external internal and remote instead of slave and master? Also my Roland haven’t been able to daw integrate I got it 3 days now and I downloaded the drivers, and all the other drivers but it doesn’t seem to work
Hello, in my case it dowsent work, i get the message dont connected from the fantom, if i push daw control and selected ableton. although. but the siganl over vendor worked. but only audio?
What power of computer laptop do I need for Ableton Live min power maybe 17" monitor,,,, ????? I have a new Fantom 8 coming I just bought today. Maybe Logic Pro would be better but then I have to use a Mac. I read they can share files over to Protools real easy. I also have protools on another computer to work on songs. Ive never had Logic or Ableton live. Maybe even a decktop where I could hook a larger monitor HDMI . I use some older desktops you can buy cheap that run QuadCorei5 16G of ram and Tbyte drive. You can buy for $225 Many people seem to use Ableton Live.
Hello for I don't have more than 8 scenes on my fantom 7 I put ex ten scenes on but the famton can't read it thank you for an answer have a good day Bonjour pour je n'ai pas plus de 8 scènes sur mon fantom 7 j'ai mis ex dix scènes sur mais le famton be peux pas le lire merci d'une réponse bonne journée
This is great works really well. I can't get the audio to stop 'doubling' when using sounds from the Fantom with Ableton effects. And ideas anyone out there? I hope this can be done.
I have the Fantom 06....can you use the Fantom in Ableton while in the track view? I mean....who in the bloody hell wants to work with clips in the Fantom AND Ableton all the time? If all I cared about was clip-based recording....WTF do I need Ableton for?
Hi, Anyone know if I make a complicated drum pattern using TR Rec but over 1 length then I decide I want 2 lengths but slightly varied, do I need to re input all my sounds in 2nd bar or is there a copy function I cant see?
Can someone help me, my Fantom is not detecting my Ableton for Daw control only as a audio card. Are there any settings I need to make in Ableton preferences to get it to work.
Hi Roger. I’m having the same problem. Have downloaded and installed 2.5 upgrade, as well as upgraded Mac OS X software (from Roland website). Do you have any other suggestions. Ive got the latest ableton live too. Changed cables, restarted, etc but still not talking to each other!
DAW remains DAW and Keyboard Workstations remains Keyboard Workstations. Don't know if this is good. For sure, to work DAW-less is an experience by itself and I think roland should put more afford into the DAW-less experience we do got if we have a Workstation like that. This is a feeling like the akai mpc's so on and so forth. But for sure some people will be thankful with this DAW integration.
Totally agree. Fantom needs foremost to be a workstation and is still missing important features for that. Using fantom as a daw controller is confusing. I want the fantom to stay as the fantom, i can add a separate daw controller if i need it. Export fantom project to the daw over usb with a one press project transfer button would be a better idea. Especially once the fantom can actually record audio files !
@@christianthompson1473 Big doubt on that mate. It only has 2.5 GB for pad samples and 2 GB for wave expansions. If it were to add audio tracks it would have to use either from these two memory locations. And to have it for all 512 scenes it would be impossible. Probably will have to record at 44.1/16-bit. Not good since most people use 44.1,48 and at 24 bit to record on average these days on their PC/Mac. This is something only possible if Fantom uses an SSD or hard drive for storage.
@@christianthompson1473 At a max of 60mb/s (usb2 limit) ? Even if that were possible the audio files attack portions would have to be loaded in the RAM when the Fantom starts up and when it changes to a scene that contains a sequence with audio tracks. And that increases the boot time and decreases the possibility of having Scene Remain Functionality. Also the new Fantom's internal architecture is quite different from the older series. The previous Fantom series had expandable RAM functionality for audio files and multi-samples but in the new Fantom the computing system is already integrated with the BMC chips, Flash memory and whatever else. I don't see Roland aiming for the complete workstation experience here to be honest. They are aiming for the newer generation workflow with computers since they have evolved quite well over the past 5 - 10 years. But as a quick scratch pad for scribbling down ideas they have implemented the new sequencer and its tools. And for the live performing artist it's got great sounds and DAW integration. Just my 2 cents. Don't take anything harshly please.
