Ableton Push 3 Standalone - Quick tips for new users

Push 3 is a new standalone instrument from Ableton.
In this video I go over some quick tips that might save new users time when diving into it for the first couple of times. These are things that I didnt really find in the video guides or manuals online that really helped.

I had a similar problem with hanging Notes, but looks like solved in yesterday's beta sw for push just released

Oh no! It looks like your new Push is having the same issue with the pitch bend / modwheel strip that mine is - right around 5:48 you can see the pitch strip bugging out just like mine - except mine is way more extreme and the pitch bend / modwheel strip sticks all the way to the top. It happens **every time** I try to use it, so I haven't been able to use it. All the notes are super wonky. Here's a video where another user is having the same issue: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rgrMI3qHSq8.html I contacted Ableton, and they said they are hoping to fix the issue in a firmware update but have no ETA on that... ...and so I keep waiting..... 😔

Ah man, that is so frustrating. Mine was working perfect earlier. That sucks it happens every time for you. I’ll have to check mine again as I just made this video this morning and haven’t played with it again since… I’m having a super hard time wanting to keep it at this point.

One of the firmware updates did indeed fix it for me, and I've not any major issues with mine since then (knock on wood!) 😁👊@@el_dani

Do you mind sharing what was the issue with your first device? (you said it was defective) I got my new push3 just recently and would like to thoroughly check the machine.

Mine bricked. Completely stopped working. I talked about it in a couple of other vids. I ended up returning mine as I didn’t feel like it was meant to be.

It’s a great idea and cool machine, but I think it was meant for a different workflow than I’m used to. Good luck, I hope you love it!

So the JU06 is bus powered and sending audio over USB?

Yes, bus powered. No ground loop with this set up as far as I could tell.

How did you recover it from its bricked state?

I sent it back and got a new one. I have since returned the Push 3. It is not for me.

What was defective about the first unit.

It was not able to operate in standalone after the first use… it could t connect with the internal cpu for some reason.

reminds me of the maschine plus..paying 1500 for it and it crashed for a year then..price goes down for later adopters..fewer crashes more stable ..it took two years for the plus to be live pa ready..bummer

I’ve heard this and now maschine is considered a sleeper by many. I plan to do a couple more videos with the Push 3, but I’m just not sure it’s for me at this point. Not being a push 1 or 2 user, I find the “diving” tedious and am way faster and actually have more fun with the mouse. However, knobs are knobs and random limitations and even inconveniences can be very inspiring. So far, I feel like it does too much while not doing enough. Especially as “standalone”. A weird statement, I know.

@@alx-106 yeah but these hardware daw have limits compared to computer which is also hardware..that has limits too ..idk looks like the push has bout a year before it’s chill I would hang with it through the updates it’s prob gunna be rad

the Maschine Plus is still quite the turd as far as I’m concerned. Plenty of people agree. It can work okay if you just use samples but the plug-ins almost always make it unstable. I was a day one buyer for the M+, MPC Live and Force and the P3 stand-alone is way more developed and capable than all of the others.

Akai Force had the same problem it took at lease 2 years to get something less bugging and playable in live, I think Push 3 is a good idea but the software is not ready.

@@blablanmoguer I've owned every major groovebox in the last 10 years and the Push 3 is number one. There was one bug that effected me but it was just fixed. From here on the only way is up. It is the most solid release and capable machine out there in years. If you are saying this based on other's opinions you really need to give it a shot. If you have and it didn't work for you that is a shame because I don't know anyone who actually understands it that does not love it.

Always love your vids, ahout to you for all ur content, as far as Push 3…pass, all vids I’ve seen have bugs galore and for that price and instability …naaawwww, hells to the no for now. Maybe when it’s 5 years old and all bugs worked out.
