Dear CRC social media person, i'm a complete neophyte when it comes to all this kind if stuff and i ONLY use CRC stuff because Abomb says so. Brake kleen, evaporust, the bed rust prevention spray, all purchased because i saw it on Adams channel. You ad money is working.
Adam, please don’t listen to the folks who criticise you. This is a fantastic symbiotic relationship with CRC, your credibility when endorsing products is considered to be really credible as folks know in the community you would NEVER endorse a dodgy product. Yes other products are available and that is great. However, I really trust your judgement. CRC have found a great partner here. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
Another product is dark molasses, the cheap kind used by hunter to bait deer. I mix it one cup to every gallon of water. You won't be disappointed, if your taking rust from wrenches that have been zinc coated just check on them but cast parts just let them soak. The molasses will not remove the black hardened marks on tools that have been heat treated and hardened.
As a hobby I dabble in vintage Lionel trains and often times when I go to shows or places like that they have extremely rusty old track or rusty old pieces an evaporite has saved many many many that I have bought for cheap and or gotten for free it's a great product and I highly recommend it and I love that Adam is endorsing it for them because it's fact if he likes it then he'll promote it well done Adam
I absolutely love evaporust! It's the best rust remover I've ever tried. I restore vintage motorcycles and it's made the process so much easier. Especially cleaning the inside of gas tanks. I used to put nuts and bolts in and shake them for hours with a toxic mix of chemicals. Now I just fill it up with evaporust and let it sit for a day and they look like new. Best part is its reusable. I didn't know it comes in a 5 gallon bucket. I'm going to have to try and find one. Thanks crc!!👍
Thanks for the great feedback! Evapo-Rust is available in many sizes. You can check out the Where to Buy on our website: www.evapo-rust.com/where-to-buy-evapo-rust-remover/
I work at an export company in detroit and freight up and preserve mostly automotive manufacturing equipment for shipment overseas. We use a product called cortex 50 gallon drums about 1500$ but we aerolize itn through a gun. This stuff cleans up with mineral spirits and protects against the toughest of sea conditions
Found an old very large Chanellock slip joint plier (I think the largest they make). Would never have bought because usually don't ever need anything that big but for free it was a good deal. Problem was, the slip joints were "welded" shut with rust. After cleaning as best I could, about 24 hours in Evapo Rust and they were free. After clean up, I just sprayed and wiped with WD40. Got a bunch of other badly rusted US made tools including smaller Channellocks from same source and applied same treatment. Highly recommend Evapo Rust. And it is reusable! Nice succinct video.
@@CRCAutoUS I have an old lathe with really stubborn rust. Can I soak rags with evaporust and drape on the lathe ways or other surfaces as I can't submerge it?
Good job mate, I have found that doing smaller pieces using evaporust. It works much quicker and arguably better If you heat it up in the microwave to sort of about 60° C and it will clean up parts in an hour or two instead of overnight works much better when it’s hot. Maybe give it a try. All the best from Melbourne Australia
I use an induction hotplate to bring the temperature of the evaporust and parts up to 100°-125° fahrenheit for 15-30 minutes, seems to speed the process. Keep it covered so you aren't loosing any thing to evaporation.
@@CRCAutoUS FWIW, I tried the towel/ cling wrap on some large flat objects. The results were very disappointing. A tray, lots of towels, carefully sealed, saturated....and uneven results across the surface, and of course indentations were not reacted at all.
Rust Block: what is it? Is it a film or does it react with the surface perhaps making a phosphate or depositing zinc? While EoR does not touch the metal, it leaves the surface rather reactive perhaps leaching out beneficial oxides which keep the surface from rusting when put on a shelf. After doing some transmission gears, they flashed to a light golden soon after dried off.
I wonder how well this would work on firearms. I have some firearms that were brought to me for cleaning that the owner had left in her garage for several months. Some have extensive surface rusting almost to the point of pitting. Was considering electrolysis, but have been advised by some gunsmiths that there can be issues of weaking the metal by using this method of rust removal.
you are killing me with the camera cuts write a script read it once an take the shoot. Also take the damn safety goggles off you are just unscrewing 2 bolts with the adjustables. Did youtube osha just visit or something Bwahahahaaha Ayoh!
It seems Evaporust is ridiculously expensive ($55 per gallon on Amazon) and over rated. Ospho is much less costly, $20 per gallon or less and works better and faster. When living on the Gulf Coast, I bought a 500 gallon gas tank for my boats. The tank was totally rusted. I brushed off the loose rust, sprayed it with Ospho (took about 1/2 gallon) in the morning. That afternoon I spray painted the tank and frame with Rustoleum paint. After 5 years while only 20 feet from saltwater the tank was still perfect...not a spec of rust anywhere. The whole process cost me under $30. Ospho works great, been using it on everything that rust for nearly 25 years now.
@@grimlock1471 As long as the piece is completely dry, it is not a problem to paint it. Ensure the Evapo-Rust is completely washed off, along with any other film or oily substance.
For all the cool tools that you have, I don't recall you having a bead blast cabinet. For all your experience I'm sure you must have use them in the past. Is there a reason that you don't have one?
It will depend on the metal. High carbon parts should not be soaked longer than necessary, as most likely the metal will darken in colour. The darkening does not have an adverse affect on the metal. It merely represents the movement of carbon from the interior of the metal to the exterior of the metal. If you have any detailed questions, please don't hesitate to contact techservice@crcind.com
Some situations not covered that I have run into: 1. Isn't there an instruction/condition/recommendation to avoid contact with air? Obviously that tank doesn't respect that instruction. 2. How do you tell when the solution is spent? The volume does have a service life, correct? A finite amount of reaction it can effect? 3. And how about technique for larger objects for us folks who can't justify over $1000 of solution and 25 sq.ft. of workspace to house a vat like in the video? For instance, I had a Weber grill where that bottom bolt holding the vent fins to the handle was fused with rust making normal rotation impossible. Any suggestions (towels, sponges) of how to work the product on a section of a large object? 4. "Discoloration"-- Everthing seems to come out with, what to me, appears to be a unique flat black patina, not the look of steel I am used to. Am I wrong? Future video ideas? I have been pretty happy with the product. I expect my next purchase will be the 3 gallon size (though the recent 25% price increase on Amazon sucks). But I want to get more out my usage.....

99% of folks can't afford that. I looked at a new one at auction, but that sold for $290K before adding in buyer's premium and sales tax. This was a 1000w German machine, so there are much cheaper machines out there but nothing for less than $50K that is quality.
Hey Adam, why don't you show trying to remove rust/stains on some "Precision Tools" ? You know, common every day used machinist tools that need to be "RESTORED"! Precision Tools like various Micrometers, Combination Squares, Scales, Precision Squares, V-Blocks, Angle Blocks, etc
Its great if you are given Evaporust for free to do all these jobs. If like me you're not sponsored, I would need to sell my kidney to afford 50 Gallons. At $26 for 1 Gallon I'll stick to DEOX C. It removes more rust, lasts a lot longer, and is a quarter of the price.
I like the fact Adam isn’t going to give anyone the nod he doesn’t believe in. Only way it could be better is Abby making an appearance. Maybe one of those spokesmodel poses she does so well. Adam is evaporation of the liquid in your tank a concern?
*_Evaporust is fine and I use it however.. HOWEVER, using it on cooking items? NO! Not a chance. And then rinsing it and letting flow into the ground? NO! Sorry. Come on now. Serious?_*
Yea right! Wait until people see this and use it on their cookware. When people start getting I’ll and suing ABOM and CRC for advertising this product as food safe.
keep in mind you have to be as strong as Adam to lift a vice into that tank!!!! Adam has been an inspiration to me and so many others. And I've always loved CRC from the 5-56 days!!! NJ
