I do not believe all of these people are trying to be “horse abusers”. I am going to assume (and *hope*) the reason they participate and train in this style is due to ignorance of equine physiology. Anyone who is familiar in the slightest, who really cares for and loves their horse(s), would immediately abandon saddle seat.
@Lauren-vd4qe

if you watch saddlebreds in the pasture, they trot this way all by themselves; its NOT horse abuse at all; if you are trying to locate horse abuse, go directly to the tennessee walking horse, the big sick lick class, you will find plenty of abuse fodder there...

That’s a different breed, the Morgan horse. Morgan’s and Saddlebreds are very similar breeds( one is just a little more refined than the other), so I can see the mix up. Saddlebreds don’t have a cool origin story like that.

The depresser tendon is cut and the tail is put in a "set" or brace to maintain that position. It is then kept in a bag to protect it. The whole horse is covered all the time with face covering, neck sweat wrap, blanket and leg wraps. I laughed when I saw them turned out in the pasture as that wouldn't happen for fear of a hair getting out of place. Plus if you ever let them out good luck ever catching them again, LOL!

the saddle seat discipline is NOTHING like the big lick. Obviously you have not done any research and are just relying on looks for your point. Saddlebreds are not abused and are not sored and unlike the media says they are treated very well and are very well taken care of. The only reason they put their hands up to that height and use full bridles are because of the natural headset and the behavior of that horse. The ONLY similarity in theses two disciplines are that they have a similar saddle. The Big Lick mainly sores,breaks tails, and puts big block on the hoofs. Oh and they use a completely different breed of horse(the Tennessee Walker) the difference in saddlebreds and the Tennessee walker is that one have a very exaggerated step and headset( the saddlebred) and the other is a breed mainly known for its gait and doesn’t have a big headset(Tennessee walkers). So many people always hate on the saddleseat discipline because of the big lick. So only speak out if you know what your talking about please.

@ S B you obviously don't have a clue about riding (considering what you re-post on your channel). Horses who are involved with Saddle seat, have their ears forward, and a willingly going. I ride Saddle seat, and I can tell you that most riders in every discipline (except the big lick) are good. Saddle seat is unique, and is an adrenaline rush, for both the rider and the horse. These horses naturally move this way, and their headset is natural. They are bred to do this, and I can assure you that they all get lots of pats, treats and love. Watch some GoPro footage of Saddle seat riders, and you will see that their care for their horses is extraordinary. I am actually writing a petition on the big lick, to illegalize it. So, if you would like to make a difference 1.) do some research on Saddle seat and big lick, and 2.) you can type your name for the print in the comments, and I will use your account name for the signature. Now go out there, educate yourself, and stop hating on Saddle seat!!!-Josie on her dads account
@richardwelsh3040
@richardwelsh3040 4 года назад
Also, Saddle seat is protected by the USEF, and unlike the big lick, has rules to protect the Morgans, Saddlebreds, Hackneys, Roadsters, Freisans, and Arabians, so that they can all have fun, and enjoy the adrenaline rush of Saddle seat riding:)-Josie on her dads account
